We're looking for a legal expert to join our friendly board, and help people excluded from society build bright futures.
Step Together Volunteering is a small but mighty charity. Through our unique, person-centred approach we support people to build the confidence and skills they need to look towards a positive future.
We work with young people, people in contact with the justice system, and the Armed Forces community, through 1-1 support, coaching and volunteering placements in the community. Our support doesn't have a time limit, we work with our clients until they have the confidence and skills they need to look forward to a more positive future.
We work nationally, our Head Office is Bristol, and our frontline staff are home-based in the regions they cover.
Our legal trustee has recently reached the end of her term, and we're now looking to find a new trustee who'd be happy to share their expertise with the board, and provide ad hoc advice to the CEO from time to time.
As a trustee, alongside your fellow board members you'll be responsible for the strategic leadership and administration of Step Together, and we're keen for you to contribute your perspectives and experiences to discussion. Specifically in relation to law, you may be asked to:
- Provide legal expertise and support to the rest of the Board and senior staff to ensure the charity complies with its duties and obligations.
- Ensure there are robust policies and procedures in place for legal and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with senior staff on ad hoc legal matters to provide support and advice.
- Advise on legal implications of any plans or strategies to aid good decision making at Board level.
Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years.
What are we looking for?
Your experience will ideally have been gained as a qualified lawyer (in any field, but those with knowledge and experience in employment law, company or charity law preferred).
Good networks within the Bristol area would be advantageous. You will be knowledgeable about the legal environment that charities operate in, including governance best practice, and be comfortable working at Board level, contributing to discussion and enhancing decision-making.
Ability to work at a strategic level is essential.
We are looking for someone passionate about the work we do, who is happy to advocate for and represent the charity to key stakeholders to help further our work and impact.
What difference will you make?
You'll be helping ensure Step Together is meeting its legal and regulatory duties as well as providing the board and senior team with the advice we need to operate well. More broadly, as a trustee, you'll play an important role in ensuring Step Together is sustainable, well run and has a clear, strategic direction so that it continues it's brilliant work, supporting people who are otherwise left behind.
Commitments
We have two in person meetings per year (one in London, one in Bristol) and two online, plus an 'away day' in the autumn. We're ideally looking for trustees who based in Bristol or the surrounding areas.
Our board meetings and away day are fixed but there may be times we need to get in touch on an ad-hoc basis, or ask you to be involved in task-focussed committees.
Before you apply
Please get in touch if you've any questions, or to find out more.
If you'd like to apply, please get in touch - we'd love to hear from you! It would be helpful to hear a bit about you, what you'd like to bring to the board, and why you're interested in Step Together Volunteering.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Here’s a slightly shorter, smoother version that keeps the warmth and key details:
Do you love gardening and helping others?
Join our Friday morning gardening group as a Co-Lead and be part of something truly special.
During the growing season, students from a specialist SEND school visit our vibrant Victorian-style kitchen garden each week to plant, water, and harvest fresh fruit and vegetables. Bringing your gardening knowledge and practical skills, you’ll work alongside a staff member who specialises in supporting SEND pupils. Together, you’ll lead a friendly team of around eight volunteers who support the group each Friday.
Experience working with teens with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) is wonderful but not essential. You’ll be supported by skilled carers and HLC staff, and you’ll gain valuable experience along the way.
What to expect
Sessions run on Friday mornings during term time (April–July and September–October). You’ll help prepare activities, brief volunteers, welcome students, and pair them with one-to-one support for the session.
You may work directly with a participant or oversee the wider group — and, of course, hand out the all-important biscuits at break time! At the end of each session, you’ll lead the tidy-up, support a short debrief with students and volunteers, and share key updates and photos with the volunteer team to keep everyone informed and motivated.
You’ll play an important role in helping participants work towards meaningful goals, such as following instructions, managing transitions, and developing fine motor skills.
What we’re looking for
You’re patient, kind, and empathetic, especially when working with people with learning needs and disabilities. You’re reliable, flexible, and eager to learn.
Consistency is key, so we’re looking for someone who can commit to weekly Friday mornings during both the Autumn and Spring programmes. Your steady, friendly presence will help create stability and comfort for participants who may find change challenging.
Join us — and let’s grow something wonderful together, in the garden and beyond.
Time commitment
-
Fridays, 9:30am–12:00pm
-
Autumn: 4–6 weeks (September–October)
-
Spring: 10–12 weeks (April/May–July)
An additional morning for garden maintenance and session preparation may be helpful in future, but this isn’t essential at the outset.
Skills and experience
-
Gardening knowledge and practical skills (required)
-
Experience with teens with PMLD (desirable, not essential)
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – VOLUNTEER
Flexible Role Recommended 5–10 hours per week | Shoreditch, London | Start‑Up Youth Social Mobility Charity
About REMIX
REMIX is a start‑up, youth‑led social mobility charity transforming young lives across London. Based in Shoreditch, we empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to unlock their potential, build confidence, and develop essential life skills through nurturing mentorship, inspiring role models, and transformative opportunities.
We are in the early stages of building something bold, vibrant, and community‑powered — and we’re looking for a visionary CEO (Volunteer) who can lead REMIX through its start‑up phase and into a thriving, sustainable future.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate, entrepreneurial, and people‑centred Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (Volunteer) to drive REMIX forward with clarity, ambition, and heart. As a start‑up charity, we are building our programmes, culture, systems, partnerships, and long‑term strategy — and your leadership will be central to shaping every part of our journey.
This is a hands‑on, collaborative role for someone who thrives in early‑stage environments, enjoys building from the ground up, and believes deeply in youth empowerment and social mobility.
Time commitment: Flexible but beneficial if around 5–10 hours per week, including:
-
Bi‑monthly Board meetings
-
Working groups and leadership sessions
-
CEO (Volunteer) duties, planning, partnership‑building, and organisational development
Key Responsibilities
As CEO (Volunteer), you will:
-
Provide inspiring, strategic leadership as REMIX grows from start‑up to established charity.
-
Work closely with the Board of Trustees to develop our vision, programmes, and long‑term strategy.
-
Build strong relationships with partners, funders, community organisations, and stakeholders.
-
Lead on operational planning, programme development, and organisational systems.
-
Shape REMIX’s culture — empowering volunteers, uplifting young people, and championing our values.
-
Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and compliance with charity regulations.
-
Represent REMIX externally with confidence, warmth, and credibility.
-
Drive innovation, opportunity, and growth across all areas of the charity.
This role blends leadership, creativity, operational oversight, and community engagement — perfect for someone who enjoys variety and impact.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous CEO experience — we welcome people stepping into senior leadership for the first time. What matters most is your passion, your drive, and your ability to lead with purpose.
We’re looking for someone who is:
-
Passionate about social mobility, youth empowerment, and fairness.
-
Entrepreneurial, proactive, and excited by building something new.
-
A strong communicator with excellent people skills.
-
Confident working collaboratively with Trustees, volunteers, and partners.
-
Equally comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
-
Organised, reliable, and committed to our mission.
-
Compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and community‑minded.
Experience in charity leadership, youth work, programme development, fundraising, or organisational growth is beneficial — but not essential if you bring strong leadership potential and a willingness to learn.
Why Join REMIX?
-
Lead a start‑up charity with huge potential and a powerful mission.
-
Shape the vision, culture, and long‑term direction of a youth‑led movement.
-
Build programmes, partnerships, and systems from the ground up.
-
Work with passionate Trustees and volunteers who care deeply about young people.
-
Gain senior leadership experience in strategy, governance, and organisational development.
-
Make a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of young Londoners.
This is your chance to lead a movement into the future.

Be the heartbeat of a new urban youth movement
Urban Youth is a brand new start-up London-based, volunteer-powered youth collective taking youth work back to the streets — estates, parks, unused spaces, anywhere young people already are. We move fast, cut the red tape, and create high‑impact, short-term projects that build confidence, skills, and community.
To build a movement, you need people. To build the right movement, you need someone who can spot energy, nurture talent, and bring out the best in every volunteer who joins us.
That’s where you come in......
What you’ll do
-
Lead the full volunteer journey — recruiting, onboarding, supporting, and celebrating our dream team.
-
Be the first face of Urban Youth for new volunteers: warm, confident, and able to communicate our mission with clarity and energy.
-
Shape and protect our culture: inclusive, youth-centred, fast-moving, and grounded in real community.
-
Run smooth, welcoming onboarding sessions that help volunteers feel part of something bigger from day one.
-
Support volunteers across projects, making sure they feel valued, equipped, and connected.
-
Work closely with our Founder to build a team that reflects our values and the communities we serve.
What we’re looking for
-
A natural people person — someone who lights up a room and makes others feel seen.
-
Confident communicator who presents well in person and online.
-
Someone who can build trust quickly and bring out the best in people from all backgrounds.
-
Organised, reliable, and able to keep track of multiple volunteers and moving parts.
-
A culture‑builder who understands the power of belonging, recognition, and shared purpose.
-
Passion for youth empowerment, community, and doing things differently.
What you’ll help build
-
A volunteer team that feels like a family, not a workforce.
-
A culture where people feel proud to show up, contribute, and grow.
-
A movement where young people are at the centre — supported by adults who genuinely care.
-
A recruitment and onboarding experience that feels human, warm, and energising, not corporate.
What you’ll get
-
A chance to shape the founding culture of a new youth movement in London.
-
Real leadership experience in people, culture, and community-building.
-
A front-row seat to the growth of a grassroots, street-level youth collective.
-
A supportive, creative team that values your voice and ideas.
Time commitment
Flexible and project-based. We work fast, but we work around your life.

Build the visual identity of a new urban youth movement
Urban Youth is a brand new start-up London-based, volunteer-powered youth collective taking youth work back to the streets — pop‑ups in estates, parks, unused spaces, anywhere young people already are. We move fast, cut the red tape, and create high‑impact, short-term projects that build confidence, skills, and community.
We’re building a brand that feels like a youth brand of itsself, urban styled, minimalist, and unmistakably street. Heavy sans-serif type, black-and-white logo with a sharp accent of yellow. A brand young people feel proud to wear — not a corporate youth service badge.
We need a Graphic Designer who can help us bring that identity to life.
What you’ll do
-
Create a bold, urban visual identity for Urban Youth, rooted in black, white, and yellow.
-
Design a logo that feels wearable, iconic, and movement‑ready.
-
Develop a brand style and guidelines that volunteers can use across social, print, merch, and pop‑up spaces.
-
Shape the look and feel of our street‑level youth projects, from posters to signage to digital assets.
-
Work closely with our Founder to ensure the brand stays authentic, raw, and youth‑centred.
What we’re looking for
-
A designer with a strong eye for minimalist, high‑contrast, urban aesthetics.
-
Someone who understands urban youth culture and can translate it into a brand that feels real, not corporate.
-
Experience with logo design, typography, and brand systems.
-
Ability to create assets that work across digital and physical environments.
-
A collaborator who cares about accessibility, inclusion, and impact.
What you’ll help build
-
A brand that young people want to wear, rep, and feel part of.
-
A visual identity that matches our values:
-
Radical accessibility — free or pocket‑change.
-
Agility — we move fast, no six‑month waits.
-
High contrast — clear, bold, unapologetic.
-
Youth at the centre — always.
-
What you’ll get
-
A chance to shape the founding identity of a new and unique youth movement in London.
-
Real creative freedom within a clear aesthetic direction.
-
Portfolio-defining work with visible, street‑level impact.
-
A collaborative, energised team committed to doing youth work differently.
Time commitment
Flexible and project-based. We work fast, but we work around your life. You can support us as little or as much as you like.

You’ll be the person who keeps us on track, spots gaps, solves problems early, and makes sure nothing falls through the cracks.

ROLE TITLE: Brand Guardian (Visual Lead) – Men’s Mental Growth Movement
CATEGORY: Arts, Culture & Heritage / Marketing, PR & Media
CAUSES: Mental Health / Men
ROLE TYPE: Volunteer (Remote)
JOIN MINDSET:
Most men’s mental health branding is depressing. It’s all clinical blues, sad faces, and "waiting room" energy. We’re bining that. MINDSET is a new, action-first CIO that speaks the language men actually respond to: challenge, movement, and real-world connection.
We don’t want a charity brand. We want a movement identity.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Brand Guardian to join our "Engine Room". You will be the architect of our visual soul. Your mission is to create a brand that feels like a high-performance lifestyle label—think Nike, Patagonia, or Movember—but built for mental resilience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
We have a logo already but you will use that to;
- Build the "Mission Kit" (Social media templates, digital assets and physical flyers for our events).
- Ensure every pixel of MINDSET passes the "Pub Test"—if it looks like a doctor’s surgery, we start again.
WHO YOU ARE:
- A designer with a "gritty," active, or high-contrast aesthetic.
- Someone who believes that "action" is the best medicine for the mind.
- A volunteer who wants to see their work on the chests of men climbing mountains and hitting workshops across the UK.
COMMITMENT:
This is a volunteer role with no set hours. While we would ideally appreciate a committment of 2–3 hours per week, we are fully flexible around your other life commitments. You are free to stop volunteering at any time. This role is fully remote.
APPLY:
Send us a link to your portfolio and tell us why you want to kill the "sad man in a hoodie" trope.

ROLE TITLE: The Storyteller (Content Lead) – Men’s Mental Growth Movement
CATEGORY: Marketing, PR & Media / Writing & Editorial
CAUSES: Mental Health / Men
ROLE TYPE: Volunteer (Remote)
JOIN MINDSET:
Most men’s mental health content is beige. It’s full of "it's okay to talk" platitudes that men have stopped hearing. We’re changing the script. MINDSET is a new, action-first CIO built around shared experiences, challenges, and real-world connection.
We don't want a "Content Creator." We want a Storyteller to turn our missions into a movement.
THE ROLE:
As our Storyteller, you are the voice of MINDSET. You’ll be responsible for taking the raw energy of our "Missions"—hikes, workshops, and challenges—and turning them into punchy, no-BS content that actually lands with men.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Draft our "Mission Manual" (The Tone of Voice guide).
- Write "The Hook, The Action, The Growth" copy for social media and our newsletter.
- Interview the men on our missions to share real stories of transformation without the clinical jargon.
- Ensure every word we publish passes the "Pub Test"—if it sounds like a doctor wrote it, we bin it.
WHO YOU ARE:
- A writer, journalist, or copywriter who knows how to grab attention in three seconds.
- Someone who can write with heart and humour, but zero fluff.

ROLE TITLE: The Digital Navigator (Growth & Social Lead) – Men’s Mental Growth Movement
CATEGORY: Marketing, PR & Media / Digital & Social Media
CAUSES: Mental Health / Men
ROLE TYPE: Volunteer (Remote)
JOIN MINDSET:
Algorithms don't care about "awareness," and neither do we. We care about action. MINDSET is a new, volunteer-powered CIO that’s binning the clinical "waiting room" approach to men’s mental health. We’re building a movement around shared challenges and real-world connection.
We don't need a "social media manager" to post quotes. We need a Digital Navigator to lead our growth.
THE ROLE:
As our Digital Navigato, you are the link between our vision and the men who need it. You’ll be responsible for our digital presence, managing our "Coming Soon" campaigns, and using data to make sure our "Missions" are seen by the right men at the right time.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Deploy the "Coming Soon" campaign across X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
- Monitor engagement—using data to tell The Frontline (The Doers) what activities men actually want.
- Apply for and manage our Google Ad Grant (up to £7.5k/month in free ads).
- Grow the waitlist using simple, high-impact digital funnels.
WHO YOU ARE:
- A digital marketer or social lead who knows that "likes" don't equal "impact."
- Someone who understands how to target male-leaning audiences effectively.
- A volunteer who wants to use their technical "day job" skills to save lives.

ROLE TITLE: The Tech Setup Lead (Systems & Infrastructure) – Men’s Mental Growth Movement
CATEGORY: IT / Technology / Project Management
CAUSES: Mental Health / Men
ROLE TYPE: Volunteer (Remote)
JOIN MINDSET:
Most charities are slowed down by clunky tech and "reply-all" email chains. We won't be. MINDSET is a new, action-first CIO built for the modern world. We trade clinical waiting rooms for real-world challenges, and we need a digital workshop that’s just as efficient.
We don't want an "IT Support" person. We want a Systems Architect to build our engine room.
THE ROLE:
As our Tech Setup Lead, you are the invisible force that makes MINDSET scale. You’ll be responsible for setting up our "Tech Stack"—from volunteer comms to member waitlists—ensuring everything is automated, secure, and simple to use.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Set up and manage our Google Workspace for Nonprofits.
- Build our internal "Mission Control" using Slack and Notion.
- Implement a lean CRM/Email system (like Mailchimp) to manage our growing brotherhood.
- Bridge the gap between our vision and the digital tools that make it happen.
WHO YOU ARE:
- A tech-savvy pro who knows how to make different apps talk to each other.
- Someone who values "simple and scalable" over "complex and clunky."
- A volunteer who wants to build the foundation of a movement that changes lives.
