Remote volunteer roles
Transform is looking for a new Treasurer to join our board of Trustees!
We are looking for a qualified accountant, preferably with experience in the charity sector; knowledge and experience of the drug sector an advantage.
As we are a small organisation this is quite a hands-on role. You will need:
To work collaboratively with the CEO, our book-keepers and the auditors to produce annual accounts
and regular financial statements
Proven accountancy qualifications, budgeting and understanding the finance of small
charities including a working knowledge of xero
Ability to translate finances in an easy-to-understand manner for different
stakeholders with less financial knowledge
Good knowledge of charity governance rules and procedures
To be passionate about the values and mission of the charity
You will also work closely with the Chair and the Board to ensure we are meeting our
financial objectives
You will be willing to bring experience, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and be
willing to broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.
About Transform
Transform Drug Policy Foundation is a global leader in developing, and advocating for, more
humane drug policies. Our vision is a world where drug policy contributes to safer and
healthier societies. We want to recruit a treasurer, to oversee income and expenditure of the
organisation, to help drive forward our work.
This is an exciting time in drug policy. Rapid changes in approach are occurring in the UK and
internationally. Transform has a long history of shaping these changes and seeking to ensure
that reform reduces harm, improves social justice and protects public health. Our Anyone’s
Child campaign is a highly effective family-led movement that has had a significant impact
here and abroad. But like so many charities, we are feeling the strain from the cost of giving
crisis and gaining longer-term sustainable funding is essential for the continuation of our
important work.
We welcome applications from all candidates with the skills and commitment to support the
work of Transform. We especially welcome applications from Black and minority ethnic
candidates as part of our commitment to ensuring a full diversity of experience is reflected in
our work. We are also interested to hear from candidates with personal lived experience
which informs their understanding of the need for drug policy reform.

The Board of Trustees exists to inspire and guide both the Executive Leadership and the Senior Leadership Team through the application of Choose Love's vision, mission, and core principles, providing inclusive leadership. The Board Governance ensures that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for effective charity governance, whilst supporting and, where appropriate, challenging the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive.
The trustees ensure that the Board functions as a cohesive unit and works closely with the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives. They act as ambassadors and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Chief Executive, representing Choose Love's values and mission to stakeholders and the wider community.
We are looking to strengthen our existing board. Choose Love is seeking to recruit two additional trustees.
- TRUSTEE VACANCY ONE: TRUSTEE DEDICATED TO ADVANCING CHOOSE LOVE’S HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMMES
- TRUSTEE VACANCY TWO: TRUSTEE DEDICATED TO ADVANCING CHOOSE LOVE’S COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY
We are seeking trustees who are ready to do more than fulfil statutory requirements or attend scheduled meetings. The work of Choose Love, and the impact we strive to achieve, depends on trustees who are proactive, engaged, and generous with their time, expertise, and energy.
We encourage candidates who are willing to be accessible and responsive outside of formal board settings, whether that's by advising on urgent matters, attending events, mentoring staff or volunteers, or participating in advocacy and outreach activities. This role will involve reading and reflecting on reports and proposals in advance, giving thoughtful feedback, and being available for consultation as required.
Being a trustee at Choose Love is a dynamic commitment that extends beyond the boardroom. We are seeking individuals who will play an active role in shaping our vision, supporting our team, and ensuring the charity remains resilient and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.
We are pioneering a new movement in humanitarian aid: fast, flexible, transparent and accountable.

We are looking for a Trustee with fundraising and development experience to join our Board to support our small but mighty charity to bring the joy of reading to primary school children across the country.
Location: Online
Salary: Voluntary with reasonable expenses reimbursed
Deadline for applications: 31st October 2025
About Us:
The Children’s Bookshow is a national charity that inspires children with a love of books and reading through an annual programme of inspiring theatre and digital performances and engaging creative workshops. We showcase some of the best authors and illustrators of children’s books from around the world, and celebrate children’s literature in translation.
We are an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation that has been running successfully for 23 years. Each year, we deliver 15 events in venues ranging from iconic theatres such as The Old Vic in London to community spaces and smaller scale theatres such as the New Wolsey in Ipswich, plus a programme of 60 creative workshops in primary schools. We target areas of high socio-economic deprivation, support environmental sustainability through our programme, and partner with local authorities, libraries and education providers. Every child who attends our theatre performances receives a free copy of the author’s book to take home and keep. This is integral to our offer - putting excellent books directly into the hands of children.
“Having Frank Cottrell-Boyce in for a free workshop really did make such a difference to our school and to our children. Frank was able to inspire every single child to write, no matter their need or ability, and children who would normally be reluctant to share their ideas in front of the class were confident to do so. Every single one of them went home talking non-stop about the amazing author they had met - with many now inspired to become authors. I can't put into words how grateful we are or how much of an impact those couple of hours have had on both the children and staff.”
Teacher, Winyates Primary, Peterborough 2024
The opportunities:
If you think you have the expertise and passion to support our work and help us to deliver the kind of impact and change experienced by Winyates Primary, then we would love to hear from you!
Thanks to successful fundraising The Children’s Bookshow is financially stable for the next two years. Iterative growth and continued financial sustainability are crucial for us to fulfill our aspirations for the future:
- Give more primary school children the invaluable experience of a live author event at a local theatre
- Enable children to work creatively with a world class artist in their own classroom
- Increase book ownership by putting a free book into the hands of every child who attends one of our performances
We are recruiting a Trustee to join our Board of highly-skilled, committed and friendly Trustees to guide and support us in achieving these aims.
The Role:
Trustees share oversight of The Children’s Bookshow’s artistic programming, operations, fundraising and finances, to ensure good governance in compliance with our governing document and with UK charity and company law.
Time commitment: around 4-6 days per year.
Trustee:
We are looking for a dedicated individual who has enthusiasm for our work as well as experience in fundraising and development in the UK charity sector, to advise on and support our longer-term strategic fundraising plans and assets (such as proposals and case studies).
A background in children’s literature, publishing or theatre would be an advantage, but not essential.
The Children’s Bookshow is committed to creating a collaborative Board of Trustees that is inclusive and representative of our society. We actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and from all sections of society to apply.
Meetings:
There are typically four Board meetings a year lasting around an hour. Three of these meetings take place online and we endeavour to meet in person once a year in central London for a meeting followed by lunch. We welcome Trustees to attend our theatre performances and online events wherever possible to directly experience our work.
We also have a Finance and Operations Committee that occasionally meets online and reports to the Board, which Trustees are invited to opt into to share their expertise in specific areas such as Finance, Fundraising and Development.
How to apply
Please email your CV and a covering letter (each a maximum of 2 sides of A4) detailing your relevant expertise and experience for the role of Treasurer or Trustee, and why you would like to be part of The Children’s Bookshow. We look forward to hearing from you.

Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.
We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading skills.
Area coordinators support and coordinate a team of prison volunteers. They help recruit and induct new volunteers and are the first point of contact for advice and support. Area coordinators lead and inspire the team via quarterly 1 to 1s and area meetings. They also help oversee the progress of Shannon Trust in prisons in their area and provide cover and support where needed.
We are looking for volunteers who are organised, flexible, able to work independently, and able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years. Due to the nature of the role prison security vetting will be required.
We provide training for the role via e-learning and 5 training sessions which are a mix of live, online and group training.
