Self Injury Support has been supporting people affected by self-harm, trauma, and distress for almost 40 years, and we're looking for new volunteers to help us continue offering these vital support services.
Our wonderful team of Helpline and Text Volunteers provide valuable non-judgemental support to people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds via our helpline, text, and email services. We're looking for people to help make an important difference to the lives of those who contact us.
We’re currently recruiting Bristol-based volunteers. We regret that our office premises are not wheelchair accessible. We can offer flexible working, please mention this on your form and we can discuss it at interview.
Our next training block will take place at our Bristol office on Upper Maudlin Street over 4 days in October: Thursday 16th, Friday 17th, Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th between 10am-4pm. Please note that attendance on all four dates is required to complete the training.

What's it like being a volunteer?
When you join our team, you’ll take part in our training course. The training is a brilliant opportunity to meet new people and learn the valuable skills you’ll take with you into the work. Our training covers listening skills, self-harm, supporting suicidal callers, understanding the impact of trauma and abuse, mental health awareness, and reflective practice.
Once you’ve started on the service, you’ll answer calls, texts, and/or emails from people across the UK and offer them confidential emotional support. The work can be emotional but highly rewarding.
Every quarter, you’ll meet a group of your peers or your personal supervisor in a supportive, reflective space to discuss volunteering. Here, you’ll have a safe and confidential space to reflect on the work and its impact on you and talk through any issues.
Who can volunteer?
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and life experiences. You may have your own experiences of self-harm or mental ill health, or be keen to learn more about how to support others through these experiences. Please note, personal experience of self-harm is not essential.
You don’t need previous helpline or counselling experience, just an open mind, a commitment to the role, and a willingness to learn.

Practical details:
- An Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role, which will be paid for by Self Injury Support.
- All volunteers commit to a year on the service after completion of training.
- Our main office is Central Bristol, near Bristol Royal Infirmary, with good public transport links and parking nearby. We regret that the premises are not wheelchair accessible. We can offer our preliminary chat over the phone and discuss any adjustments we could make for more flexible roles.

Would you like to volunteer in a customer facing role at RNIB's Product and Advice Centre in London? Could you be the welcoming face of RNIB? Do you have good communication skills and enjoy meeting and helping people? We need friendly, enthusiastic people like you to give visitors to our building the best possible experience when they come to us for information about our products and services. Visits to our Products and Advice Centre are a great way of customers finding out about the products and services that RNIB offers, and give customers the chance to try and buy products.
The role involves welcoming customers and assisting customers to view and try products before they buy, recording purchases on the till (training will be provided) and some admin tasks such as using excel, checking stock lists and processing payments.
We are looking for volunteers with a welcoming and friendly nature, who enjoy interacting with people. Some experience of Microsoft Office and Excel would be great but is not essential.
The Product and Advice Centre team is a friendly and supportive team and ideally, you will have some flexibility to fit in with the needs of the Product and Advice Centre. Volunteers are needed from 10am until 4pm.

Can you commit between 2 and 4 hours a week to help those suffering from Dementia? We are looking for volunteers to spend a short time each week working with our Community Hub Officer (CHO) to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our Dementia Support Group (Forget-Me-Not Café) and help to provide specially designed crafts activity sessions such as leaf printing, making seasonal decorations etc. All our visitors are accompanied by their carers and as a volunteer you will receive specific awareness training to give you the confidence to provide conversation and a smile for those with dementia at the Edward Hain Centre. Role Description Our dementia activities and group sessions are attended by all kinds of people experiencing dementia. We work with specific care homes whose elderly residents are brought along by their carers and we run a Forget-Me-Not Café, set up for individual carers or relatives to bring along those they care for with dementia. Key Responsibilities: • Greet attendees warmly as they arrive. • Support the CHO with setup and organisation. • Prepare and serve teas and coffees. • Welcome session attendees, ensuring they feel comfortable. • Help attendees take part in table activities (if they want to). We are looking for volunteers to facilitate regular gardening sessions for our clients, guided by St Mungo’s values. Can you commit to between 2 and 4 hours a week to help us run the Reception area at The Edward Hain Centre?
We are looking for volunteers to spend a short time each week helping in our Reception area. This role would particularly be of advantage to College leavers or those between employment positions looking to gain some experience and references for their CV and we welcome anyone with spare time who wants to give back to their community and make connections with new people.
Role Description
As the Edward Hain Centre grows we are getting busier! We need volunteers who can spend a short time each week supporting our Community Hub Officer (CHO) by manning our Reception desk. The people who use our Centre can expect a warm welcome and directions to the different areas of the building. We need help with small admin tasks like printing and folding leaflets and there will be opportunity (with training if needed) to create posters in Canva. We also need to gather feedback from our Users in the form of surveys or testimonials and answering our phone and taking messages is vital! Join us in creating a friendly and supportive space for everyone!

Racing Homes is a national charity providing affordable accommodation for those working and retired from the British horseracing and breeding industry. We are seeking an advisory committee member who shares our vision that everyone from the horseracing and breeding industry has access to high quality, affordable, safe housing.
The charity is in a period of change with exciting times ahead as we start to implement our new strategy. We will be seeking opportunities for capital development projects and growth in the North and South of England whist ensuring our property portfolio is fit for purpose and provides the best accommodation possible for our tenants.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for the work that we do and who is familiar with the challenges of running a national organisation.
What will you be doing?
Racing Homes’s board meet four times a year, usually twice via video-call and twice in person. The meetings are currently routinely attended by trustees and committee members, the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Housing and Finance Director. The meetings are held to report on and discuss the performance of Racing Homes, its strategy, to consider any current issues or challenges facing the charity, provide advice to the main board to help assist with high level decision making.
There will also be the requirement to undertake a committee member induction which we anticipate being a one-off one-day commitment. Each year, in addition to the committee meetings we anticipate another two days commitment would be required.
We invite committee members to join the Charity for an initial period of three years with the possibility of Trusteeship after one year.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking to add to the expertise that we have on the Racing Homes committee, through enthusiastic individuals who have experience and skills in the following areas:
· Professional experience delivering capital projects; or
· Background or knowledge of Safeguarding; or
· Legal expertise of housing associations, social housing and/or property
Please note, as this post will involve governing and advising on services that have direct contact with young people and vulnerable adults alongside some work of a sensitive nature it will be subject to a satisfactory, enhanced DBS disclosure. We also make checks on staff working with vulnerable adults and young people against the DBS barred lists.
What difference will you make?
Racing Homes currently has 165 units of accommodation housing young people, working age staff and retirees from the racing industry. We have housing schemes in Newmarket, Lambourn, Middleham and Malton and have advanced plans for new schemes in two of those locations, providing more than thirty additional new units of accommodation. You will be part of this team, providing crucial advice to shape the housing provision and influence strategy.

Events and Programs Manager
We are seeking a highly experienced, creative, and results-driven Events and Programs Manager to lead the planning, execution, and promotion of our high-level organizational events and strategic programs. This role is perfect for a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sophisticated event management, strong marketing acumen, and a passion for innovative program development.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Lead the end-to-end management of complex, high-profile events (e.g., conferences, executive summits, product launches, galas) ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand standards.
- Operational Oversight: Manage all logistical elements, including venue selection, vendor negotiation, contract management, budgeting, staffing, and on-site event execution, often managing multiple simultaneous projects.
- Financial Stewardship: Develop, manage, and track detailed event and program budgets, ensuring cost-efficiency while maximizing quality and impact.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate potential operational, logistical, or financial risks associated with large-scale events.
- Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive, multi-channel marketing and promotional strategies to drive attendance, engagement, and visibility for all events and programs.
- Content Collaboration: Partner with the marketing and communications teams to create compelling event-related content, including website copy, email campaigns, social media assets, and press materials.
- Performance Analysis: Utilize data and metrics to track the success of marketing campaigns and events, generating detailed post-event reports with actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Sponsorship/Partnership: When required, manage the identification, outreach, and fulfillment of sponsorship and partnership opportunities to secure additional resources and enhance event value.
- Innovative Scheduling: Apply a highly creative and innovative approach to program design and scheduling, ensuring content is timely, relevant, engaging, and utilizes modern formats (e.g., interactive workshops, hybrid models, experiential learning).
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal leadership, speakers, and external partners to curate engaging agendas and high-quality programming that meets the needs of diverse audiences.
- Long-Term Strategy: Contribute to the development of a long-term events calendar and programs roadmap that supports the organization's strategic objectives and thought leadership position.

- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing integrated marketing and promotional campaigns for events.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, manage complex budgets, and simultaneously handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a highly proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
- Superior interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage senior-level stakeholders and external vendors effectively.
- Proficiency with event management software (e.g., Cvent, Eventbrite, etc.), CRM tools, and basic project management methodologies.

About Mind in Havering, Barking & Dagenham
Established over 50 years ago, we are a local mental health charity based in Havering. We provide services to people living in Havering and Barking & Dagenham who are experiencing mental health problems. We also campaign for better services, deliver training and raise awareness of mental health. We are affiliated to national Mind, but we are an independent charity and raise our own funds.

- Time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
- Previous Board and/or Trustee experience is desirable but is not essential.
- You must be willing to participate in Board meetings every two months and join one of our four, active sub-committees.

We are in an important moment in Nottingham Contemporary’s history as we deliver a transformative process of rearticulating our purpose and shaping our future. We are looking for someone with strong financial understanding and experience to join our Board as a trustee and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. This role is key to supporting Board members with financial decisions and understanding, providing a link between the Board and the Finance and Audit Committee and working closely with the Director and Senior Leadership Team.
Time commitment: We would normally expect trustees to prepare for and take part in 4–5 Board meetings per year. In addition, you will be expected to prepare for and chair up to 5 Finance and Audit Committee meetings per year. All trustees support the development of key pieces of work and are invited to voluntarily attend the 3 exhibition openings per year and other fundraising, networking and promotional functions. In total, this is estimated as a time commitment of an average of 1 day per month.
Payment: The role is an unpaid voluntary position. Reasonable travel expenses incurred taking part will be met.
