This opportunity is a great way to develop new skills and enjoy yourself at the same time.

Our shops generate funds that directly support the whole family, from medical care and therapeutic services for children, to emotional and practical care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences.

Your role will help us continue providing vital care and support to Tŷ Hafan children and their families.

About our Cowbridge Shop:

Our Cowbridge shop seeks to celebrate the town’s diversity in the way our team thoughtfully curates the mixture of preloved items its occupants have generously donated.

We offer high street to designer names, tea sets to linens, vinyl to hatpins, toys and books for all ages and plenty in between. 

Tom and his team of superstar volunteers will do their best to help you find just the thing and the chance to buy a winning lottery ticket, too.

Considerations:

Age requirement: 16+

Location: 29 High St, Cowbridge CF71 7AE

Commitment:  Availability: Monday and Thursday afternoons.

Shifts will be discussed during your informal chat.

Background checks: We will ask you to provide us with the details of two referees.

Activities include:

• Providing a warm and friendly welcome to all customers entering the shop;
• Helping customers to locate items they are looking for;
• Serving customers at the till;
• Taking donations and promoting Gift Aid;

Trustee

Role purpose
As a trustee of Community Resource, you’ll play a key role in guiding the charity’s direction and ensuring we stay true to our mission.

You’ll provide strategic leadership and oversight, working closely with the CEO and leadership team to help us achieve our goals and deliver lasting impact.

Trustees take part in board meetings and may also contribute to subcommittees or working groups focused on areas such as finance, risk, events, and safeguarding.

You may also represent Community Resource externally, helping to build relationships with partners, supporters, and stakeholders and attend inspiring events that celebrate and support rural communities across Shropshire.

Requirements
We’re particularly keen to hear from individuals with current or recent senior-level experience in areas such as law, business accounting, IT, cybersecurity, health, or entrepreneurship. These skills are especially valuable as we navigate growth and innovation.

However, we also warmly welcome interest from those with other relevant expertise or lived experience that could benefit our organisation and enrich the board’s perspective.

Location
Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Salary
Unremunerated, but reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.

Commitment
The board meets eight times a year, combining in person and online sessions (usually Tuesdays, 4– 7pm), including our AGM. Additionally, there is an annual trustee and leadership team away day.

Length of term
All trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years and are eligible to re-stand for election for up to a maximum of two subsequent terms.

Do you have a passion for cooking or interest in working in a kitchen environment? If so, you might be the perfect fit for our kitchen volunteer position at the hospice.

Good food is central to the care we provide, from catering for specialist dietary needs in the everyday, to special occasions such as our annual memorial event.

The kitchen is situated immediately off the main lounge, the central hub of the Hospice, where families come together to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by our talented head chef and his team.

For our children and their families, mealtimes provide comfort, a sense of normality and a chance to socialize. Without the stress of shopping, planning and clearing up - we take the pressure off.

Considerations:

Age requirement: 18+

Time commitment: Mondays and Fridays

.Location: This role will be based at the Tŷ Hafan Hospice in Sully assisting the kitchen staff. The kitchen is situated immediately off the lounge, the central hub of the Hospice, where families come together to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by our talented head chef and the team.

Activities you could be involved in:  

• Keeping the dining area neat and tidy by clearing away plates and crockery

• Help with food preparation

• For experienced chefs and bakers, there is an opportunity to get involved in cooking meals and baking goods

• Wash dishes and utensils with kitchen equipment

• Serve tea/coffee and food with a smile

• Chat with staff, families and children and make them feel welcome

The Loneliness and Wellbeing Charity

Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate one to one Youth Mentors to support and guide young individuals in their personal and educational development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and youth, providing mentorship, and fostering a positive environment. This role is vital in helping young people navigate challenges, build self-esteem, and develop essential life skills.

Duties

• Provide one-on-one mentoring to youth, offering guidance and support tailored to individual needs.
• Meet with your young person once a week for up to 3 hours and go out into the community and do fun activities with them, from going for some food, a walk or a paid activity (expenses will be reimbursed to the volunteer).
• Foster a safe and supportive environment where young people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for reporting purposes.

Desirable Requirements

• Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with young people.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people in their development.

Could you help SSAFA reach more supporters and raise greater awareness of our services through the magic of social media and digital marketing? You don’t need a military background, just some basic digital skills, the ability to get on with a wide range of people and good written English. What is a Digital Marketing Volunteer?

There are SSAFA branches and service committees throughout the UK and overseas. We use local microsites and social media to raise awareness of our services, raise funds and find new volunteers. Digital Marketing volunteers help us maximise our message, keep content up to date and increase traffic to our sites.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

Our clients, volunteers and supporters come from all backgrounds and age groups and want to engage with us in different ways too. To offer the best possible service we need to provide seamless communication, consistent messages, and accurate information. We’d love to hear from you if think you could help us grow our on-line presence.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home.

The role would suit someone looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity as times and days could fit in around work and other commitments to suit you.

What would you be doing?

• As part of a team of volunteers, maintain branch microsites and social media feeds.
• Look at ways to increase traffic to microsites and improve SSAFA’s digital brand.
• Keep content current and accurate.
• Support and maintain the SSAFA brand by consistently using our brand guidelines and tone of voice.
• Working with the digital marketing team, interpret analytical data to develop local communication plans.
• Working with local SSAFA branches, build social media channels and integrate on-line and off-line activity to best effect.

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

• Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
• Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What are we looking for?

• Friendly and approachable people, possibly with some experience of digital marketing/ IT or social media
• Ability to write in English to a good standard.
• Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with clients, supporters, volunteers, other agencies, and staff.
• Understanding of how social media can be used to engage and influence.
• Ability to use social media applications including adding and editing content.
• Basic understanding of website maintenance, training will be provided.
• Basic understanding of digital analytical tools, training will be provided.

What is a Digital Marketing Volunteer?

There are SSAFA branches and service committees throughout the UK and overseas. We use local microsites and social media to raise awareness of our services, raise funds and find new volunteers. Digital Marketing volunteers help us maximise our message, keep content up to date and increase traffic to our sites.

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

Our clients, volunteers and supporters come from all backgrounds and age groups and want to engage with us in different ways too. To offer the best possible service we need to provide seamless communication, consistent messages, and accurate information. When would you be needed and where would you be based?

As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home.

The role would suit someone looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity as times and days could fit in around work and other commitments to suit you.

What would you be doing?

• As part of a team of volunteers, maintain branch microsites and social media feeds.
• Look at ways to increase traffic to microsites and improve SSAFA’s digital brand.
• Keep content current and accurate.
• Support and maintain the SSAFA brand by consistently using our brand guidelines and tone of voice.
• Working with the digital marketing team, interpret analytical data to develop local communication plans.
• Working with local SSAFA branches, build social media channels and integrate on-line and off-line activity to best effect.

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

• Induction covering all the aspects of SSAFAs services and the difference we can make to people’s lives.
• Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
• Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What are we looking for?

• Friendly and approachable people, possibly with some experience of digital marketing/ IT or social media
• Ability to write in English to a good standard.
• Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with clients, supporters, volunteers, other agencies, and staff.
• Understanding of how social media can be used to engage and influence.
• Ability to use social media applications including adding and editing content.
• Basic understanding of website maintenance, training will be provided.
• Basic understanding of digital analytical tools, training will be provided.

• Setting up, managing, and maintaining our cloud‑based case management system.

• Overseeing our CRM and ensuring it’s configured and used effectively.

• Managing Microsoft 365, user accounts, permissions, and shared drives.

• Ensuring our digital systems are safe, secure, and compliant.

• Developing simple processes and documentation for volunteers.
