Job description

THEATRE TROUPE are looking for a Treasurer with finance and/or accounting experience to join their new Board of Trustees, and support the company and its Directors through an exciting period of growth and development. Theatre Troupe is a community arts organisation that uses the radical nature of theatre to change the lives of children and young people in London with acute and complex mental health problems and we are interested in building a diverse Board - including those who have not been a Trustee before - so that we have a wide range of experience, skills and perspectives to draw on. Theatre Troupe’s Treasurer will:

  1. Maintain an overview of the organisation's financial affairs
  2. Ensure the company’s financial viability
  3. Ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained
  4. Report back regularly to the Board of Trustees on the organisation’s financial position

Theatre Troupe welcomes applications from everyone and actively encourages applications from individuals with a variety of different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We are also happy to support those who are applying to be a Trustee for the first time.

The role of Treasurer Trustee will offer a valuable professional development opportunity for someone who is interested in playing a key role in the development of a thriving grassroots arts organisation that is having a significant positive impact on the lives of extremely marginalised children and young people.

About the Board of Trustees

The role of the Board of Trustees is to support the strategic vision and leadership of the company and its co-Chief Executives, and to ensure we are continuing to fulfill our vision and mission.

Trustees are key ambassadors of Theatre Troupe, promoting our work and helping to ensure best practice across the company’s management.

The Board will meet 4 times a year (approximately every 3 months) in central or South London.

Theatre Troupe is happy to pay Trustees’ expenses (e.g. travel, childcare) and we are committed to making meetings accessible for all Trustees.

If you do not want to apply for this particular role but you’re interested in becoming a Theatre Troupe Trustee, please do get in touch with us, particularly if you have experience in the any of the following areas: fundraising; marketing and communications; organisational development
