The Volunteer Instructional Designer supports our mission by designing engaging, effective and learner-centred educational materials. About the Role:

As Instructional Designer, you will work closely with the Membership Director, Book Club Coordinator, and Social & Digital Media Education Lead to develop structured learning pathways, modules, and resources for our membership programmes. Your work will ensure that all learning experiences are engaging, accessible, and aligned with our anti-capitalist, community-driven, and survivor-centred mission. This is a hands-on, impactful role combining strategy, creativity, and operational delivery.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential Technical Competencies:

• Experience in instructional design, curriculum development or educational programme creation in formal or informal learning environments.
• Proven experience designing and delivering community-based education, training or learning programmes.
• Experience using content creation tools (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Canva).
• Basic familiarity with e-learning tools, learning management systems or content creation software is a plus.
• Ability to develop structured learning pathways with clear outcomes and assessments.

Summary

CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019. Our raison d’etre is to engage young people in outdoor activities by providing them with opportunities to go on night walks, build fires, cook on fires, try out some bush craft, go on bike rides, try indoor climbing, have a go at scuba diving in swimming pools, play team building games, enter cake competitions, attempt bushtucker trials, put up tents, learn navigation skills, keep fit by doing bleep tests, go karting, have a crack at skiing at Ackers Trust or on a ski slope in the Alps, eat curry at Christmas and much more.

There’s a lot involved in putting the program together and ensuring that all our members get the chance to join in these amazing experiences.  You will work in conjunction with the Group Leader to decide which activities to do and when and you will also have to coordinate with our team of volunteer leaders to ensure that there are enough staff available each week to run the program.

The key tasks of the role are to:

• Plan the weekly activities for each term in coordination with the budget and operational members.

• Schedule the activities at the clubhouse and nightly trips / events.

• Provide any materials etc required to carry out the planned activity.

• Book the event / location / trainer etc and organise transport.

• Produce a term summary including parent rotas to be sent out.

• Follow up with parents  / Leaders to ensure actions have been taken to meet activities planned.

• Troubleshoot any issues on the night if necessary.

• Ensure that there are enough staff available to run the program and arrange cover if necessary.

Making a difference - what impact will the opportunity have?

Your input is key to the running of CAG as well as securing its future.  You will help make Tuesday meeting nights run smoothly by ensuring that the Leaders are free to focus their attention on the members having a great experience.  By producing a termly program this will enable parents to add the weekly activities to their diaries in good time and Volunteer Leaders to plan ahead and check out their availability.  Additionally we can offer you:

Become a volunteer activity group coordinator

As an activity group coordinator, you’ll plan, organise and schedule monthly activity groups in your local area. This is a volunteer administrative role that requires communicating and socialising with older people and volunteers from all walks of life.

The activity group will be at the same community venue and will include older people, activity group leads, drivers, and the activity group coordinator. Activity groups normally last around two hours and will include an activity that gets people moving such as: dance, chair exercises, boules, skittles or boccia.

Activity groups are free monthly groups that are open to older people who are lonely, isolated and in need of companionship. Activity groups are a great way for older people to stay active and to make new friends in their local area.

To become an activity group coordinator, you’ll need to:

• Have a 30-minute induction call with a member of the Re-engage team
• Complete an ID check
• Provide a reference
• Complete online volunteer training modules

Tasks include:

• Welcoming and supporting new volunteers into the activity group so they can start volunteering with confidence.
• Welcoming new older people to the activity group and contacting them before their first activity group so that they feel welcome and comfortable.
• Arranging the annual activity group schedule so activity group leads know when it’s their turn to lead the activity, and activity group drivers know which older people they’re collecting and dropping home again after the activity group.
• Matching older people to volunteer drivers, so the same drivers collect and drop off the same older people each month.
• Responding to any issues and queries from the volunteers and older people in the activity group.
• Following the guidance in the online volunteer training so that the activity groups are safe, enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
• Keeping in regular contact with Re-engage and reporting any concerns to the team.
• Promoting the activity group in your local area so we can recruit more volunteers and support more older people.
• Keeping in regular contact with the activity group volunteers and older people and sharing any updates from Re-engage that are relevant to them.
• Completing a short online report about the activity group four times a year.
• Keeping your knowledge and training up to date by reading our monthly volunteer newsletter – Re-engage Matters.

About the Role of Non-Executive Director 

Haven is looking to appoint one or more Scotland-based Non-Executive Directors to join its Board at an important stage in the organisation’s development. Candidates may come from backgrounds such as manufacturing or operational leadership, business turnaround or organisational restructuring, or roles focused on sales, marketing, or income diversification. Experience within social enterprise, the charity sector, or working with disability-focused organisations would also be valuable.

Local business connections and networks within Scotland would be advantageous.

Beyond experience, we are looking for individuals who bring integrity, sound judgement, and the confidence to both support and challenge constructively. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, along with a proactive mindset, are important. You should be comfortable navigating complexity, contributing to collective decision-making, and maintaining a focus on both mission and commercial sustainability.

Time Commitment

There will be a minimum of four half-day Board meetings per year, with an expectation to attend an additional four to five meetings annually as required. Meetings are typically held at Haven Products’ Larbert site (FK5 4RU), with some held remotely or at other locations across Scotland. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Hours: We are looking for committed volunteers to help in our shops.  Shop volunteers need to be fit and work to a rota; usually one morning or afternoon each week, but we can be flexible. We are particularly looking for volunteers in the following shops:
