Job Title: Domestic Abuse Helpline Advisor (Part Time) x3

Location: Homeworking with a requirement to occasionally work at Head Office (Vauxhall, London)
Salary: £17,314.27 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting allowance if applicable

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours rota that includes evenings, weekends and night shifts). Shifts are scheduled across a 24-hour rolling rota and we are unable to support specified non-working days (although shift-swapping is available)

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Domestic Abuse Helpline Advisor to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence and abuse, including those at the point of crisis.

Helpline Advisors are responsible for providing high-quality, empowering, emotional and practical support, assistance and information to women and those supporting them, who contact the Freephone 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline, run by Refuge. Helpline Advisors deliver one to one support to women and those supporting them to ensure that they are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming service, enabling women to understand their rights, make decisions and increase their options. The job involves working across multiple platforms including phone and live chat, to inform survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety.

Please note that this post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours rota that includes evenings, weekends and night shifts.

Are you an experienced fundraiser, skilled in crafting persuasive narratives and telling moving stories of impact and change? We have a fabulous opportunity for you to use your creative and organisational skills to make a difference to young lives in Doncaster. 

We are currently finalising our next Forward Plan, with an ambition to create an inclusive, vibrant community, committed to everyone having a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.  We currently work with children and young people aged 5 to 30. 

Our priority programmes include support coaching for young people, community activity sessions, sustaining our accommodation provision for vulnerable young adults and establishing how we can best support more young people on the homelessness pathway.  We have some great spaces that are in need of development, and we expect that both capital and revenue funding will be included in your workload. We also look for smaller grants during the course of the year, including for food for our residents and supplies for our art groups, and we hope to recruit volunteers to assist with some elements of this work.

The core of your role will be in generating funds from trusts and individual giving, with other fundraising and communications tasks included as time permits.

• To create and update cases for support for YMCA Doncaster’s fundable projects and general running costs.
• To be responsible for an assigned portfolio of trusts, foundations and similar, developing knowledge of, and relationships with, those funders.
• To make strong applications to funders within the assigned portfolio, matching YMCA Doncaster’s agreed cases for support with funders’ interests and requirements.
• To create, publicise and monitor outcomes of giving campaigns and / or fundraising events. 
• To nurture key external stakeholders including potential supporters from the local business community, the media and others as appropriate.
• To prepare and give presentations, maintain ongoing contact and host trustee or representative visits where required as part of fundraising work.
• To devise and oversee efficient evaluation and monitoring systems which meet funder requirements.
• To keep comprehensive records, in an established format, from initial contact with a potential funder through to either the rejection correspondence or the funding agreement and subsequent monitoring and evaluation.
• To ensure that staff and volunteers joining YMCA Doncaster are encouraged to contribute to positive communications and fundraising efforts.
• To supervise / oversee volunteers and less experienced staff engaged in fundraising work. 
• To comply with fundraising and other legislation relevant to the role.

The Development and Advocacy Department are looking to appoint an interim Development Assistant on a part-time basis. This role will provide general administrative support to the Fundraising Appeals and Membership teams; including but not limited to supporting the Membership phone lines for incoming membership and ticketing queries, manage the fundraising inbox for incoming donation messages, assisting with ticket allocations for Patron members during their priority booking period and writing meaningful thank you letters to donors to appeals.

The ideal candidate will have strong verbal communication skills and a helpful manner, with an enthusiasm for and the ability to communicate fluently about the artistic work of the RBO. They will be a team player, who can quickly build relationships with colleagues and guests. You will have:

• Strong written communication skills across email, digital and print channels
• Excellent face-to-face and telephone communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with donors, members, and stakeholders
• Experience working with databases, including accurate data entry and extracting data for mail merges and reports
• A commitment to delivering a first-rate experience to supporters (transferable customer service experience will be highly regarded)
• The ability and interest to gain an understanding of UK fundraising landscape, fundraising methods and processes
• Experience of processing Direct Debits (desirable)

Project background 

The Wildlife Trusts have an opportunity to secure the historic and vast Rothbury Estate for nature, local people and the nation and are currently seeking funding to achieve this and develop a vision for the Estate by: 

• Carrying out surveys, appointing specialist contractors and listening to local people, farmers, visitors and other stakeholders to better understand the needs and opportunities of the site for nature, people and communities  

• Engaging local, regional and national audiences to enhance understanding of this heritage landscape

• Working with local and national stakeholders to co-create a new integrated approach to land management where nature recovery will underpin sustainable farming, climate resilience, public access and resilient/connected communities 

This project will lay the foundations for the future of the Rothbury Estate, a future which will see it become the heart of a 40-mile nature recovery corridor across northern England.

About You 

We are looking for a talented communications professional to work with The Wildlife Trusts on a transformative partnership project focused on the historic Rothbury Estate in Northumberland.

You will be experienced in working in a Communications and Media team, developing, analysing and evaluating impactful stories and content across different print, digital and broadcast channels to drive action. You will be adept at finding and writing stories that are likely to generate media interest, with a good understanding of the news agenda and ability to keep abreast of current affairs. Your ability to make great connections with people on the ground will be a crucial part of this.

About the Role

To work as part of a team that delivers an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported or community-based accommodation. Our work is underpinned by the Endeavour model of assets-based, psychologically informed delivery. The aim of this is to ensure that every client leaves the service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self-determining in their lives.

Working under the direction, guidance and support of a manager/senior worker you will be responsible for managing the building to ensure that the accommodation provided to the clients is safe and secure through the provision of overnight concierge service, security and door control. This includes controlling access to buildings, being the first point of contact for all emergencies and carrying out Health and Safety checks and cleaning.

Key responsibilities include:

• You will always ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service possible including using Safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
• You will provide a basic first contact advice response and security service at night to clients living in the property and/or in dispersed accommodation linked to the service
• You will be the first point of contact for visitors, contractors or services visiting the building at night
• You will be responsible for maintaining Health and Safety standards on the premises and a point of information for clients regarding Health and Safety at night
• You will actively ensure the security of the building through regular checks, and monitoring.

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance use or care leavers.
• Experience in managing the overnight safety of vulnerable clients preferably in supported housing.
• Good written and spoken communication skills to ensure the accurate handover of information both verbally and in writing between shifts.
• Experience in undertaking basic maintenance and/or delivering cleaning services.

How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.

About the role

Kinship Minds is a transformative programme that enhances the support we provide to kinship carers in England and Wales.

What you'll be doing: 

This strategic and hands-on role will help Kinship strengthen its therapeutic offer and build the confidence and capacity of staff and kinship carers to understand trauma and the impact it has, and strategies to support. We are particularly interested in experience in developing trauma-informed parenting training and resources.   

The postholder will play a key role in developing and manualising our trauma-informed approach across core services: Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, our Advice Service, and Peer Support Service. It will work with subject matter experts to develop trauma-informed approaches, toolkits, and resources for everyday service delivery, based on the needs of kinship carers and their families.   

Key responsibilities: 

• Develop and lead Kinship’s trauma-informed strategy, ensuring the implementation of trauma-informed principles across all service delivery (for example using Dr Karen Treisman’s approach).  

• Lead the development and manualisation of trauma-informed practice across Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, the Advice Service, and the Peer Support Service. This includes resources, approach and content.   

• Develop and deliver capacity-building approaches and resources for kinship carers to help them identify and respond to trauma and mental health needs in children.  

• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop self-guided training, toolkits, and multimedia resources.   

• Represent Kinship at external events and meetings to raise awareness of the services and to influence other organisations, policy and practice.  

Knowledge, abilities, skills and experience: 

• A qualified trauma-informed practitioner with significant experience in delivering or developing trauma-informed services.  

• Experience working with kinship carers or in adoption and fostering sector.   

• Proven experience applying the principles of trauma-informed care across organisations, preferably in children and family services.  

• Qualified or accredited practitioner in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) or demonstrable experience using the approach in practice.  

• Experience in designing and delivering training and coaching for professionals and/or families on trauma and therapeutic approaches.

The Role

In this role, you will lead on the delivery of the safeguarding learning pathways across the Diocese, in line with Church of England policies and procedures.
