Volunteer Receptionist/Administrator

Location: Saint Michael’s Hospice – Crimple House, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, HG2 8NA

Hours: Flexible hours – Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. 

Volunteers generally undertake to cover a 4 hour shift 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm

Closing Date: 28th April 2024

Interviews will be held after closing, on or around the 7th and 14th of May 2024 in Harrogate.

An exciting opportunity to join our team of Volunteers supporting the Reception and Administration staff based at Crimple House, who are the first point of contact for anybody arriving at the Hospice.

Key responsibilities will include answering and directing telephone enquiries, greeting patients, patient visitors and staff, ensuring they are warmly welcomed at all times, as well as undertaking a variety of administration tasks using Word and Excel.

The Reception desk is manned Monday to Friday and volunteers can undertake part or full day cover.  The volunteer rota is set a month in advance and volunteers will be contacted to gain their availability at least 2 weeks in advance.

Perspective Volunteers will be contacted via the telephone initially and if appropriate will then be invited for an interview, where they will have the opportunity to see in more detail what the role involves.

Age restrictions - 16+

We are looking for a Reception Volunteer to provide a friendly welcome to patients and guests when they arrive at the hospice, helping to create an enjoyable environment for everyone. We are currently looking for a volunteer to be on recpetion on Thursday evenings between 4:30pm-6:30pm. 

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

• Greet all visitors in a friendly and professional way, in line with hospice security requirements
• Take in postal deliveries, informing staff as necessary
• Handle incoming phone calls politely, taking and relaying messages as appropriate
• Ensure the Reception area is clean and tidy
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient details and hospice records 
• Help with other related tasks when necessary

We are looking for a friendly face to help staff the Yeldall Manor reception desk for a few hours each week.

The role entails being the first point of contact for telephone callers, visitors and residents, welcoming and redirecting their queries/calls as appropriate. You will be comfortable using a computer in order to send emails, access the diary and assist with basic admin tasks, although there may also be times with less to do.

The role includes a lot of client contact, so you will have daily contact with those men whom you are helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them. As part of this, we ask that all our staff and volunteers help support the residents by interacting with them and encouraging them in their recovery and spiritual growth, and so ask that you will have a committed Christian faith yourself.

Yeldall Manor is set in the Berkshire countryside, about three miles from Twyford station. Lunch is provided with fellow staff and resident.

Hours: 4 hours per week, Monday – Saturday

Location: Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space – Whitgift Centre, Croydon (and other locations that may be used in the future)

As part of the Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space we are recruiting for volunteers who understand how connecting people to local services improves their mental health and wellbeing. You’ll be welcoming people into the space and helping to support people with mental health problems by signposting them to local organisations that meet their mental health and wellbeing needs.  

You’ll need to be able to establish good relationships with people from different backgrounds and have some understanding of mental health and what resources there are locally.

We’ll support and train you as one of our volunteers, which could be the first step of a new career in mental health.

Can you help with providing a welcoming reception service to visitors and callers to Age UK BRWF's Windsor Street (Bromsgrove) office?

Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch & Wyre Forest is seeking the support of friendly and organised volunteers at its Windsor Street office to: 

• Meet and greet visitors to the office
• Answer the telephone (referring to the appropriate person or taking messages)
• Support members of the team with simple administration tasks (e.g. booking appointments, photocopying, preparing post for mailing, updating databases etc.)
• Have an understanding of the services and support provided by Age UK BRWF and convey this in a positive manner when speaking to people

The role of the Health Link Event Volunteer is an important one to the charity as we support very entrenched, institutionalised and isolated clients to access services in their borough.

The volunteer will enjoy developing positive relationships with new people and will be willing to work outside of their own comfort zone. The volunteer must have an enhanced DBS background check (SPEAR will apply for this on your behalf.)

LOCATION/S: Our Health and Wellbeing days are held across Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth, Merton and Sutton Boroughs. We hold approximately one Health and Well-being day per month in one of the above locations.

As an event volunteer you will play a vital role by raising awareness of our services, assisting with fundraising and engaging with the local community.You will represent Magpas Air Ambulance at a wide range of events indoors and outdoors, come rain or shine. You may be assisting with car parking, meeting and greeting, setting up a stall, selling merchandise, engaging the public and answering questions. Magpas Air Ambulance have a presence at over 150 events each year and need reliable, friendly people like you to help us achieve this. At larger events you will be supported by an event lead and we'll always make sure you are prepared and confident, you don't need to have previous experience, just be willing to get stuck in!

As an event volunteer, you will be expected to:

In this role, no two days will be the same! You may be inputting data, making telephone calls, packing and sending out letters, counting donations, preparing stock for events or contacting fellow volunteers to fill our events rota.

RNIB is looking for friendly and detailed orientated volunteers to support us at our post-race reception at the London Marathon on Sunday 21 April 2024 from 12 noon until 6pm. You will help with checking in runners to the reception, where they will celebrate with friends and family after they’ve finished the marathon. If you can spare a few hours of your time, you will make our runners event day one to remember.

Please note, this role is only available for those who live within a close proximity to London. 

Experience of fundraising and training for a running event, confident in talking to new people and available on Sunday 21 April 2024.

As a welcome desk volunteer, you will be the welcoming face of Magpas Air Ambulance at our exciting new base in Alconbury Weald.

You will greet visitors at the centre, addressing any needs whilst giving exceptional customer service. You will contact relevant staff members when appropriate and signpost people into our visitor centre experience. In between greeting guests, you may be taking enquiries, processing the sale of merchandise, taking and counting donations or assisting us with other essential administration tasks.

As a collection tin volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting us to raise our profile and fundraise within your community.

You will look after the Magpas Air Ambulance collection tins within a designated area, replacing full tins and returning them to an agreed location. You can also help us by finding new locations in which to place tins. These collection tins are an important part of how we raise money, raising approximately £20,000 per year.

As a collection tin volunteer, you will be expected to:

• Represent Magpas Air Ambulance in a respectful and friendly manner
• Understand the work of Magpas Air Ambulance, having basic knowledge and enthusiasm for our service
• Wear your Magpas Air Ambulance ID badge, ensuring it's visible at all times
• Travel to your collection tins (on two or four wheels). Where motorised vehicles are used, you must hold a full UK driving license, have a road-worthy vehicle with up-to-date road tax, MOT certificate (where applicable) and fully comprehensive insurance.
• Establish the regularity of required tin collections in your area, keep a log of your activities and feedback to the Supporter Care Officer
• Proactively replace full collection tins as needed and deliver them to an agreed location within one working day of collection
• Place new tins in locations within your area, ensuring they are accurately labelled with the location and organisation's name
• Inform the Supporter Care Officer of any new tins placed or any changes, helping us to ensure records are accurate and kept up to date
• Follow all Magpas Air Ambulance policies and procedures, including reporting any accidents and incidents
• Recognise, respond to, and report any safeguarding issues or concerns
