About Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT)
Established in 2014 and built upon Christian values and ethos, the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) has grown into a thriving and effective family of 28 Church and 5 non-Church schools, with two new free schools in the pipeline.
DDAT consists of infant schools, junior schools, primary schools, and one secondary school. Within the DDAT family, there are over 7,500 children and young people, and more than 1,000 members of staff. The Trust has an annual income of £53m.
The Derby Diocesan Board of Education developed DDAT to allow schools to take advantage of an academy model, but without being distracted from their core business of educating pupils. The Trust was designed to secure the schools’ church heritage, and to provide highly effective external support and challenge whilst delivering much of the business side of being an academy.
Our Trust’s vision is rooted in Christian teachings, aiming to nurture and empower everyone to reach their fullest potential.
Through the values of inclusivity, integrity, community, excellence and courage, we aim to support all of our students and staff to embrace the abundant possibilities of “Life in all its fullness.”

We offer a full induction and training programme through DDAT, alongside termly development sessions for LAC Members and chairs. Support is always available from the Trust’s governance professionals and central team, and you will never be left to carry responsibility alone.

As those from ethnic minority backgrounds are currently under-represented on the Board, applications from those individuals would be particularly encouraged. All appointments will be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process. However, in line with the Equality Act 2010, the organisation may employ positive action where candidates from underrepresented groups can demonstrate their ability to perform the role equally well.

Chair of the Board
Our new Chair should be someone with experience of the boardroom, preferably in a non-executive capacity as a member, committee lead or having been a Chair elsewhere previously. Alongside this, you will need to bring your experience as a senior, strategic leader who has had involvement in organisations of a similar size and complexity.
An understanding and knowledge of the SEND sector will of course be useful given our specialist context, and it will be important that the successful candidate can understand and support us within the landscape that we operate.
Given our ambitions for the future of our organisation which include estate development and the growth of our training subsidiary, we would be interested in receiving applications from candidates who have relevant business experience and who would be able to offer insight and support in realising these ambitions.
Governor roles
Having completed an assessment of the skills and attributes of our current board, we seek to appoint candidates with the following areas of expertise:
- Qualified finance professionals who are able to join not just our board but also our audit committee.
- Legal professionals.
- Those with experience of the FE and SEND sectors with specific knowledge of curriculum, teaching, learning, assessment and internships.
- Experience of business growth and development who can offer insights and support with the growth of Hereward Training Services and who would be happy to become a non-executive Director of our subsidiary.
Candidates for these additional Governor roles do not necessarily need to have had boardroom experience as we will support them with a full induction process. However, professional experience at a senior, strategic level will be important.
Peridot Partners and Hereward College are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references before any final offer can be made.

Help protect the countryside of North and East Yorkshire for current and future generations. Join the board of CPRE North & East Yorkshire.
Applications close: Monday 8th September 2025.
Location: Hybrid/North and East Yorkshire (Thirsk)
Time commitment: c.1 – 2 days per month
About CPRE North and East Yorkshire
CPRE North and East Yorkshire campaigns to protect, enhance and promote the countryside for everyone’s benefit. We cover the largest CPRE region in England, spanning 6,900 square miles from the River Tees to Goole (south of the River Humber) and west from the Yorkshire Dales to the East Yorkshire coast.
Our vision is for a beautiful and thriving countryside that enriches all our lives. We work tirelessly to ensure the right development occurs in the right place. We actively support biodiversity improvement and champion countryside protection from climate change impacts, while contributing to climate solutions.
Our small but energetic team of volunteer trustees helps people to protect the countryside they love. We have a successful track record of enabling residents and community groups to shape proposed development in ways that enrich their rural communities and the countryside around them. We also use our planning expertise to proactively campaign for local authority planning policies that safeguard and enhance our beautiful and varied landscapes.
About the roles
We are seeking two exceptional individuals to join our Board of Trustees, each bringing specialist expertise while sharing general trustee responsibilities for developing our charity in line with our strategy and ensuring compliance with all legal and governance requirements.
Trustee with Supporter Engagement, Development and Fundraising Experience
This role combines general trustee duties with specialist leadership of our supporter development and fundraising activities. You will inform and guide the Board on supporter development matters, coordinate activities to meet our agreed aims, and lead the recruitment of a new Communications and Supporter Care Officer. Following our recent strategic review with external fundraising consultants, this role is crucial to implementing recommendations that will grow and strengthen our relationships with supporters and safeguard our charity’s future.
Trustee with Local Authority Experience
This position merges trustee responsibilities with expert guidance on local authority engagement and policy development. You will lead our proactive campaigning with local authorities for planning policies that protect the countryside, particularly in meeting climate change challenges. Your expertise will be vital as we work with the newly established North Yorkshire Council and other authorities across our region to influence policy development and implementation.
Who we are looking for
Vacancy 1
We are seeking an individual with management or senior-level experience in supporter development and fundraising. You will have experience in building relationships with supporters, developing fundraising strategies, and implementing successful campaigns.
Vacancy 2
We are also seeking someone with management or senior-level experience, either in policy development within local authorities or as a policy advisor to local authorities, or with experience working with local authorities in a not for profit capacity.
You should understand how local government works, have experience in policy and possess strong communication skills for engaging with elected officials and officers.
Our Trustees are passionate about countryside protection. You will bring strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to our charitable aims. Previous trustee experience is not required as we provide comprehensive training and support.
Time commitment
Both roles require the equivalent of circa 1-2 days per month, including attendance at trustee meetings held every 2-3 months (currently in Thirsk), an annual AGM, and collaboration between meetings. Most meetings are held in person, although some are conducted online.
