Key Responsibilities

 Supporter Services

•  Lead the development and delivery of the new supporter services function considering people (capability, capacity and culture), processes, tools and technologies needed to deliver outstanding customer service so new and existing supporters feel valued and connected to the ESU’s mission.
• Design and implement supporter recruitment, development and retention plans including welcome journeys and approaches for reactivating dormant supporters.
• Work closely with the Marketing team to create segmented messaging to highlight the impact and value of the ESU’s work to Alumni, Members and Volunteers in the UK.
• Oversee payment processes and supporter payment journeys on our CRM, Salesforce.
• Work with the Marketing team to design ad hoc impactful events in person and online to convene our global audience.
• Work with the Marketing team to promote our flagship events to our supporter audience to encourage attendance. 

Volunteering

• Design and implement a volunteering strategy which includes automating the volunteer experience, recruiting new volunteers and promoting ESU volunteering opportunities to relevant organisations as well as current and future supporters
• Own the volunteer training programme, including reviewing and refreshing training and ensuring all volunteers are appropriately trained.
• Match volunteers to ESU competition heats and resolve queries escalated by the Supporter Engagement Coordinator.
• Form partnerships with relevant organisations to grow the ESU’s pool of volunteers.
• Work with the Education team to create a high quality volunteer experience

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• 5+ years experience working in a partnerships, supporter services, volunteering or account management role
• Demonstrable experience of having delivered successful services to a range of supporters/customers.
• Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering meaningful supporter journeys across multiple channels
• Demonstrable experience of growing and sustaining a pool of high quality volunteers through successful recruitment and development strategies
• Demonstrable experience of using a CRM (preferably Salesforce) to identify trends and drive improvements.

Desirable:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as marketing or communications
• An understanding of the nature and importance of the ESU’s charitable work and a strong commitment to increasing the reach of the organisation’s work.
• Experience of writing volunteer training programmes
• Experience working with international volunteers
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Experience of writing for different audiences.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of our Active Journeys South and East team covering projects across London and South East, where you will help shape healthier, happier communities through walking, wheeling, and cycling. 

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. Volunteers are a vital part of The Childhood Trust’s work. Through our Transforming Spaces programme, they deliver direct support to children affected by poverty and the communities that support them across London. As The Childhood Trust’s Volunteer Manager, you’ll be responsible for volunteers across the organisation. Your role will include oversight of the corporate and community volunteers who take part in our Transforming Spaces programme. You will work closely with colleagues in the fundraising team to create a positive and inspiring experience for corporate volunteers. 

Key to this role will be working with the Head of Volunteering and Community Programmes to embed volunteering across The Childhood Trust. You will lead on developing a diverse and inclusive volunteer base of skilled and specialist individual volunteers, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where they feel valued and connected to the mission.

Operation Christmas Child UK (OCC) has implemented a strategic volunteer ministry, investing in teams of volunteers who will multiply themselves and hugely extend the reach of OCC’s mission.

OCC is the world’s largest shoebox appeal where Samaritan’s Purse, together with local churches here and overseas, distributes from the UK 1/4 million gift-filled shoeboxes annually to children in need overseas and in so doing demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

A resourceful and energetic Regional Manager is needed to recruit, select, equip, and lead teams of volunteers throughout the 32 London boroughs.

You will be passionate about developing others towards highly effective ministry, teamwork and increased personal competency.

You will also directly engage churches to participate in OCC in areas not yet covered by Connect volunteers. A special opportunity will be engaging London churches that have partnered with our sister ministry, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for the June 2025 God Loves You Tour London.

You will be confident to take initiative with people and projects and also have good administrative and organisational skills. You will also enjoy envisioning the numerous volunteers who participate in the OCC shoebox appeal each year.

You will enthusiastically support the Christian purposes of OCC and Samaritan’s Purse and be committed to the value of well-equipped volunteers and to developing them further. Candidates will have proven people and project management and administrative experience in the workplace and be educated to A levels or ideally Degree level.

This role is based in region, and so prospective candidates should currently live in the region and provide their own transport for which defined expenses will be paid.

We are looking for someone to take up an important role in our safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Manager. This role will be crucial in supporting our delivery team to safeguard the young people we work with and help ensure that IntoUniversity provides a safe environment for all of our young people at all times.

Salary

£35,500 per annum FTE (£28,400 pro rata). This will rise to £36,400 per annum FTE (£29,120 pro rata) from 1st September 2025.

London based candidates will also receive £2,600 London contribution (pro rata). The pro-rated amount is £2,080. This will rise to £2,700 (pro rata) from 1st September 2025. The pro-rated amount will be £2,160.

Annual leave 

Full-time staff entitlement, pro-rated for part-time staff: 33 days (inc bank & public holidays) + 3 closure days (two in December and one in July) + additional length of service entitlement (one day per year of service, up to 5 days) 

In order to be eligible for the role, applicants must:

• Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have previous experience of working with children or young people in a safeguarding capacity.
• Have a secure knowledge of key legislation and statutory guidance on safeguarding and promoting the  welfare of children.
• Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas).
