Young People in supported housing age 16-24 - To provide social and practical support to customers.
Helping towards improving the life chances of people with experience of homelessness. Volunteers empower our customers to identify their existing strengths and skills so they can achieve their goals and aspirations. As a volunteer, you can support customers to achieve their full potential by developing new skills and accessing opportunities
Activities:
- Building an empathic and person-centred relationship with a young person who may be socially isolated or lack confidence.
- Provide opportunities for young people to become more self-confident, maintain contact with important people in their lives and build-up their social networks.
Practical activities could also include:
- Support young people on a weekly basis by accompanying them to appointments
- Escort the young people to nearby shops, outdoor spaces and other places in their local area
- Accompany the young people to areas of interest e.g. the gym, art classes, places of worship etc.
- Help the young people to build their confidence engaging in the wider community
Support for Volunteers:
- To attend four half days of training, receive an induction and have access to any other relevant in house and external training
- Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed
- Volunteers will have a check in with the Volunteering Officer every 3 months to ensure they are happy with the role and to resolve any issues

Our wonderful charity team is expanding and we are looking to take on more compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers with an interest in walking and helping others. We are looking to take on volunteers across the UK for facilitating in-person events.
One of the most effective support events we provide is in the form of our short walking and talking get togethers for those who are grieving. We are looking to increase our in-person get togethers across the country and are recruiting some volunteers to help us do so.
What does it involve? We meet as a small group, grab a tea/coffee, and mosey along together. This could be in a local park, along a canal, in the countryside, etc. It’s pretty simple but can be hugely cathartic and effective for those who are really struggling with their loss and feeling isolated. We are passionate about offering the best possible care to an often-ignored population.
Walking volunteer roles involve facilitating a social get together / walk for people whose loved ones have died from cancer. This largely involves being the meet and greet person for those attending. Volunteers are welcome to design the get together (choosing a location locally) or we can help you do so. The walks are very informal and relaxed, and are targeted at bringing people together rather than having to cover many miles. Get togethers normally last 1-2 hours.
We will provide full training for the role and supervision, along with continued training opportunities. We ask for at least a 18-month commitment, which involves facilitating up to 4-6 walks a year.

At Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership, our objective is to provide practical and emotional support, ultimately helping our clients achieve a sustainable position as full members of our society. Many of our clients are destitute, homeless and have no access to assistance from the government. Our mission is to provide access to advice and essential services until statutory services are in place.
Volunteering at the Drop-In centre provides an opportunity for you to help our refugee clients with any issues they might have. We have sessions running every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm at St Mary’s Church, High Street, Watford. The Drop-In provides an opportunity for refugee clients to come and discuss any issues they have and to be listened to by one of our volunteers. Many of our clients are likely to have lived here for a while but an issue or crisis in their lives means that they need to discuss it and seek some help. They may also be in the process of seeking asylum. We can provide advice and sometimes resolve their issue there and then and at other times we refer them to another agency or invite them to come back once their issue has been looked into.
The Drop-In Centre could not function without our team of committed volunteers, and we are always looking for additional help.
Full training given on starting the role as well as regular training sessions and continual support from more experienced volunteers.
Responsibilities:
· Help with filling in forms and interpreting official documents.
· Liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies.
· Referring clients for follow up action by our Case Review Team and linking them with a befriender.
· Referring clients to our partner solicitor who specialises in immigration law and comes to the Drop-In 4th Tuesday of the month.
· Advice on how to access appropriate housing and free food in the area.
· Access to the charity’s other services, such as free English classes.
Requirements:
· Able to attend at least one Tuesday Drop-In a month.
· Complete training as required and attend bi-monthly volunteer support meetings.
Skills:
· An ability to communicate and empathise with people from a variety of backgrounds and needs.
· Basic IT skills.
· Assist clients in accessing essential services such as legal, housing, financial and food.
· Can work well as part of a team.
· Enthusiasm to help refugee clients.
Desirable experience:
· Previous volunteering experience.
· Previous experience working in a people-facing role.

This is achieved by leading the team of District Lead Volunteers, and other County appointments as well as working with the Growth and Communities Team (employed staff) to provide enough places to meet the demand for Scouting, and by ensuring that every youth member has access to a high-quality balanced programme that is challenging, relevant and rewarding.
As a County Lead Volunteer, you'll get the opportunity to lead the county through transformation and develop working in teams, and look at extending the reach of scouting to all parts of the county and for all those who want to become involved. You will be able to really develop and hone your leadership skills by managing teams of remote volunteers across the breadth of Lincolnshire. You'll get to develop a team to lead at a time when they can strategically move the county forward.
Leading and managing volunteers provides so much more opportunity and experiences than with employees, and the skills you can gain by doing this really can be a great asset for your professional life as well as in Scouts. The issues and challenges that you find ways to tackle will stretch you as an individual and as a leader, and you’ll find yourself discovering new things that you are capable of achieving, all within a supportive environment.
