The Opportunity

We are seeking a Trustee with treasury or financial expertise to join our Board. This role is central to helping us manage our resources responsibly, plan for the future, and ensure our funds are used to achieve maximum impact.

You don’t need to be a qualified accountant, but we’re looking for someone with experience in finance, treasury management, or investment oversight who can bring clarity, challenge, and strategic thinking to our decision-making.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Overseeing financial governance alongside the Board and Finance Committee.
• Advising on treasury management, cash flow, and reserves.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Helping the charity manage risk responsibly while seizing opportunities to grow.
• Acting as a constructive and collaborative member of the Board.

We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Mid Cornwall Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.

This flexible home volunteering role is worthwhile and rewarding. Make a real difference writing letters. As a Volunteer Penpal Writer you’ll be a key member of the Letterbox Team. Your letters will cheer someone up and establish a trusting, supportive relationship with a client who might be lonely or socially isolated.

What tasks can this role include (some or all of the following):

• Writing letters to clients
• Building trust and companionship with a client through correspondence. Omega befriends a variety of people including: caregivers, the lonely, isolated or people with ill-health.
• Liaising with the Letterbox Team by email or post.
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the policies and procedures that are necessary when befriending adults at risk.
• Making suggestions to help us improve the service we provide to clients and Volunteer Pen pal Writers.

This role could be for you, if you:

• Enjoy writing and receiving letters

The post will also interact with relevant Communities of Practice to share learning, advice and best practice
