Bright Futures UK is looking for passionate and knowledgeable A-Level Maths tutors to provide educational support and a fun, safe learning environment for young people living with serious illnesses. 

What will you be doing? 

Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person. 

Offer subject area knowledge and expertise related to A-Level Maths. 

Help to combat social isolation through fun and engaging tutoring sessions. 

Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team

Subject Knowledge: Strong understanding of A-Level Maths concepts and specifications.

Teaching Skills: Ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.

Empathy and Patience: Kind and understanding nature, especially towards those facing health challenges.

Reliability: Consistent availability for the agreed-upon time commitment.

You must be a UK resident and be at least 18 years old.

As a charity that supports children and young people, we make safeguarding individuals our top priority. Our Education Officer, Laura Chepner, coordinates the Vegan Campout Family Marquee each year and is looking for an enthusiastic assistant. This role begins with some remote administrative support and builds up to on-site assistance a few days before the festival. You would be required on site from Tuesday 26th August, supporting Laura, up to the morning of Friday 29 August when you will clock off. After that, you’re free to enjoy the rest of the festival from Saturday onwards (free ticket included). vegv

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in events or festival planning, while gaining an exclusive behind-the-scenes insight into one of the UK’s most successful vegan festivals. 

Why do we need you? 

Vegan Campout's Family Marquee is growing year on year and we want to ensure it continues to be a welcoming, engaging and successful space for children and families. To achieve this, we need a dedicated and capable volunteer to support Laura Chepner, our Education Officer, in preparing and delivering an event that gets better every year. As the marquee evolves and expands, so too does the work required behind the scenes – and your help will be vital in making this year the most successful yet. 

What does the role involve? 

In the months leading up to the festival, you’ll support Laura with various administrative tasks, including managing emails and maintaining Excel spreadsheets. This support will gradually increase as the event draws nearer. 

You may also assist in liaising with volunteers and artists, collecting and managing essential information such as DBS certificates and first aid qualifications. 

From Tuesday 26 August, you’ll be on-site helping with the physical setup of the marquee, coordinating deliveries, arranging activities and supporting logistical tasks. You’ll also help liaise with partners and sponsors to ensure everything is in place and ready for the opening day. 

What training and support is available? 

There is no formal training required. You will be working closely with Laura, who will guide and support you throughout the entire process. 

What skills would be useful in doing this role? 

We are looking for a volunteer who is: 

• Proficient in administrative tasks 
• Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel 
• Organised, reliable and dependable 
• Friendly with strong people skills 
• Comfortable managing communications and coordinating information 

What does my availability need to be? 

*Non-negotiable – You must be available to arrive on-site at Campout from Tuesday 26 August and remain until the morning of Friday 29 August. Food and breaks will be fully catered for during this period. 

In the months leading up to the festival, there will be a few hours of admin support required each week. From May onwards and this will gradually increase, reaching a maximum of around 16 hours per week across June, July and August.

Role Summary

As a Governance Officer, you will work closely with the Governance Lead to ensure strong governance practices across Roots Academy. Your role will focus on supporting governance frameworks, policies, and compliance measures to align with charity governance requirements and relevant regulations. You will also play a key role in embedding a culture of governance across the organisation.

Key tasks

Trustee Support

• Assist trustees with governance-related tasks and ensure they have access to relevant policies, guidelines, and resources.
• Direct trustees to appropriate regulatory frameworks, best practices, and governance training materials.

Governance & Compliance Support

• Support the onboarding process for new trustees, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and securely stored.
• Assist in coordinating trustee meetings, including preparation of agendas, accurate minute-taking, and document distribution.
• Maintain key governance registers, such as the register of interests, policy register, and risk register, ensuring timely updates and compliance.

Policy & Risk Management

• Support the Governance Lead in developing and reviewing governance policies, including Conflict of Interest, Risk Management, and Whistleblowing Policies.
• Assist team leads in ensuring policies are implemented effectively and aligned with best practices.
• Help monitor compliance with Charity Commission regulations and the Fundraising Code of Conduct.

Embedding a Governance Culture

• Assist in raising awareness of governance principles across the organisation.
• Support the Governance Lead in organising training sessions or briefings on governance best practices.
• Help integrate governance principles into the organisation’s operations and decision-making processes.

What we’re looking for

Yemaya Surf

We create space and opportunity for Dominicans, especially Black & Indigenous women and girls, to reclaim their right to the ocean through surfing, cultural reconnection, and climate justice.

The north coast of the Dominican Republic is home to world-renowned waves and surf beaches. It is also home to a long and painful history of colonialism, exclusion, and ecological disruption. In 1492, Christopher Columbus landed in what is now Puerto Plata—where Cabarete, the island’s surf capital, is located. More than 500 years later, that legacy continues to shape who has access to the ocean, whose knowledge is valued, and who benefits from its economic, cultural, and healing power.

In Cabarete today, surfing is dominated by foreigners and men. Despite living near the sea, Black Dominican women and girls are largely excluded from ocean sports, environmental decision-making, and leadership opportunities. Of the 30+ surf instructors at Playa Encuentro, only three are women—and just one is a local Dominican. While the Dominican government has branded Cabarete as the country’s “Capital of Surf,” local communities face barriers at every level: surfboards and lessons are priced for tourists, beachfront access is restricted by private developments, and the sport’s culture often feels unwelcoming or unsafe for women and people of color.

This disparity is not coincidental—it is systemic. Tourism and coastal development in the Dominican Republic have prioritized profit over people, often displacing low-income communities from their ancestral shorelines. Surf beach entrances are illegally closed to favor tourists. One surf lesson can cost up to $65 USD, with board rentals priced at $20 per hour—far beyond what most Dominicans can afford. Gender norms, racism, and cultural stigma further prevent Afro-Dominican and Indigenous women and girls from feeling safe, confident, or supported in ocean spaces. At the same time, climate change is wreaking havoc across the country. Hurricanes and heavy rains regularly displace entire coastal neighborhoods, while government inaction and deforestation by foreign-owned corporations exacerbate the crisis. The burden of climate adaptation falls on local communities, especially low-income women, who are often excluded from climate conversations, planning, and resources.

Yemaya Surf exists to shift this reality.

Yemaya Surf integrates sports, cultural healing, and climate action to produce long-term, structural change in who has access to coastal spaces and who shapes environmental solutions. We prioritize community-led environmental care, Afro-Indigenous spiritual practices, and environmental stewardship.

Fundraising & Grants Assistant

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Role: Help secure financial resources through grants, sponsorships, and donor outreach while setting up efficient fundraising tools. Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Systems Setup:

• Assist in finalizing GiveButter fundraising platform setup (e.g., campaign pages, donor management features).

• Integrate GiveButter with SquareSpace website (e.g., embed donation buttons, ensure seamless donor experience).

• Test donation workflows to troubleshoot issues (e.g., receipt automation, data tracking).

Grants & Sponsorships:

• Research and compile grant opportunities (gender equity, sports, climate justice).

• Draft templated outreach to surf/environmental brands (e.g., sponsorship proposals via email/LinkedIn).

Donor & Merchandise Support:

• Help manage recurring donation campaigns (e.g., thank-you emails, impact updates).

• Support merchandise sales (SquareSpace store setup, inventory tracking, promo ideas).

Reporting & Improvement:

• Generate simple donor reports (GiveButter analytics) to track progress.

• Suggest improvements for donor engagement (e.g., referral rewards, campaign ideas).

This is an opportunity to become Chair of a Charity which has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. If you are someone who is looking to make a “real difference” for mothers/birthing people and their families facing one of the most challenging and unexpected periods of their lives, then we would like to hear from you.  We are also looking for a Chair who can lead and “harness” the range of skills present within our existing Board members, who come with a range of experience.

Now into our second decade as a charity, it is exciting time to join Mummy’s Star as the Chairperson. We have broadened the conversation about cancer and pregnancy nationwide, and internationally too despite our small stature. We now must sustain what we have built and help take the charity to that next level where we can elevate the voices of those we support, so that their needs are not only understood, but are also prioritised and used to inform policy and planning.
