Refettorio Felix is a community kitchen with an open-door policy in the Earl's Court area. We provide a safe haven and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for those facing homelessness and financial crises.

Using surplus food ingredients, our kitchen freshly prepares a three-course lunch for up to 140 people per weekday. We are looking for friendly and dedicated volunteers to support us in our mission to provide fresh and nutritious meals to our guests.

Your support will have a meaningful impact on the quality of lives of the most vulnerable members of the community. From trained and experienced Chefs to keen home cooks, we would love to hear from you!

Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats. 

Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar. 

Time Expectation:  This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible. 

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Volunteer Lead for Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership.

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Lead to support our charity, managing and supporting part-time staff that are involved in the recruitment,  retention and development of volunteers, and being part of a team that develops our strategy and volunteer roles as we evolve as a charity.

Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership (WTRRP) provides practical and emotional support, advice and befriending to refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum living in the Watford and Three Rivers area. We are a growing charity serving an increasing number of clients. We have been able to secure some funding which has enabled us to employ three members of staff, one full time Caseworker and a part time Office Manager and a part time Volunteer Coordinator.  We are based in St. Mary’s Church, Watford in the heart of the City Centre. For over 20 years we have had a strong volunteer base and as we grow,  we are navigating the change of continuing to work with a strong volunteer base as well as staff. We have over 70 volunteers currently, that engage in a number of roles ranging from Caseworkers, ESOL teachers, Social Hub volunteers and Fundraisers.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with some experience of managing staff and working with volunteers, to provide supervision to our Office Manager and our Volunteer Co-ordinator.  You will also help us develop our volunteers.

You will work closely with our HR Lead reviewing and updating our policies and guidance for volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

· Line manage and support two members of staff who are part time and are involved in the recruitment and support of volunteers.

· Have a strategic focus on Volunteer development

· Develop our training, support and retention of volunteers

· Identify gaps in roles in our organisation and develop new roles

· Foster a positive and productive culture within our charity

· Be part of a team to resolve issues with staff and volunteers using clear processes

· Become a Trustee of the Charity and attend meetings which are held in the evenings in Watford

Do you have these?

· Some experience of managing staff

· Understanding of working in a organisation with volunteers

· Some experience of managing volunteers (desirable)

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Desire to support the Charity grow and develop

· Experience of providing training and support  (desirable)

· Some occasional availability on Tuesdays for part of the period 11.00-14.00, when most of our volunteers are present (highly desirable).

Time Commitment

The hours would vary but at least 3-5 hours a week.

Committee meetings are on varying weekday evenings, currently 6 per year.

Your role 

The purpose of your role is to assist Unfold’s volunteer applicants in a smooth and timely onboarding experience.  The role will provide you with an opportunity to gain or further develop administrative, organisational, data processing and communication skills in a welcoming and supportive environment, whilst gaining an understanding of the charity business and development.

What will you be doing? 

On a weekly basis you will be supported to carry out the following:

• Send next step emails following mentoring training.
• Request, track and confirm receipt of references.
• Create volunteer profiles on our online training platform.
• Send DBS application invites and see DBS applications through to completion 
• Communicate updates with the Volunteer Coordinator and share any challenges or concerns regarding the onboarding process.
• Work in line with GDPR guidelines.
• Any other duties as reasonably required.

Training  

• You will be trained by the Volunteer Coordinator and supported throughout your role in Unfold’s systems and processes.
• You are welcome to attend our mentoring training, giving you the opportunity to further understand the needs and lives of the communities your role will help us to serve.

About you 

This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with a charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of families and young people in Westminster. 

You will be an individual who: 

• Has good organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Is confident with or willing to learn the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook). 
• Is willing to develop skills in the use of our CRM system.
• Is committed to working as a team to achieve Unfold's aims. 

This role may particularly appeal to you if you are studying or interested in Psychology, Sociology or learning more about the charity sector. Previous Office Volunteers have undertaken studies on Unfold’s service user trends as part of their Master's degree dissertation, which we would welcome should you like to initiate a similar project, however, this is absolutely not a requirement for the role!

The Commitment

Minimum 6 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, including Tuesdays or Wednesdays at Unfold’s Office in Victoria.

The Diana Award are thrilled to invite you to volunteer for our Mentoring Programme this Autumn 2025, which operate across London. 

We collaborate with volunteer mentors to support young people aged 14-18 who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) through mentoring interventions, career skills development programmes, and support with their youth-led social action projects. 

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER AS A MENTOR? 

We welcome applicants of all industries and levels of experience. Through mentoring you will gain skills in communication and leadership, building empathy and understanding of issues and barriers facing young people in their communities. 

OUR MENTORING PROGRAMMES  

We will be running our exciting Twelve-week Mentoring Programme from October 2025 - February 2026, across London, in the boroughs of Enfield, Tower Hamlets and Sutton. 

The programme will involve: 

• Twelve weeks of in-person weekly mentoring sessions that last one hour (excluding travel) and are delivered on the same day and time each week. 

• Group mentoring, where a group of volunteer mentors work together to support a group of mentees, with the help of a Diana Award Facilitator. 

• Volunteer mentors will share advice and guidance with young people who are at risk of becoming NEET.

We will train you to mentor and provide ongoing support for the duration of your programme. 

The Diana Award can provide you with a professional reference, paid for DBS check, and refund your travel expenses in exchange for your voluntary work. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Requirements 

• A minimum of 18-years-old.

• Willing to complete a DBS Check (paid for by The Diana Award).

• Willing to provide contact details for two referees.

• Has the right to work and volunteer in the UK.

• Commit to weekly sessions for twelve weeks, demonstrating consistency and punctuality. Mentoring Programme sessions last 60 to 90 minutes (excluding travel time). Follow through is key when working with young people at risk of becoming NEET. 

• Collaborate with a Diana Award Facilitator and other volunteer mentors to deliver and support group mentoring sessions within a school setting. 

• Review session plans and prepare for weekly sessions. Communicate weekly and in a timely manner with other volunteer mentors and a Diana Award Facilitator. 

• Create a safe and positive learning environment and provide young people with encouragement, guidance, and constructive feedback. 

• Nurture positive relationships with young people. Listen, understand, and acknowledge their feelings and experiences. 

• Support young people to plan a social action project. 

• Foster a growth mindset and encourage young people to challenge themselves to work towards their goals. 

• Support young people’s professional development by connecting them with further opportunities. For example, workplace visits, work experience, resources, relevant networks etc. 

• Identify and report any safeguarding and child protection concerns or disclosures to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, as per The Diana Award Safeguarding Policy.

The Diana Award is the charity legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change the world. We seek to empower young people, delivering bespoke youth programmes for children and young people aged 9 – 25. The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
