As a Trustee at NSDAS with a focus on the Treasurer role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the financial stability and integrity of the charity. The role of the Treasurer

North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS) supports anyone affected by domestic abuse and their children living in the boroughs of Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Epsom and Ewell. We provide free, confidential and independent advice, skilled practical help and ongoing emotional support and information, regardless of sex, race, ability, gender, religion or income level.
The overall role of a Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, duties of the Treasurer include:
- Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements (including arranging for the accounts to be submitted to the accountant).
- Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs.
- Ensuring that Mind in Kingston has appropriate reserves in line with its reserves policy.
- Ensuring that appropriate financial reports are presented to the board.
- Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
- Liaising with any paid staff and volunteers about financial matters.
- Advising on the financial implications of Mind in Kingston’s strategic plans.
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate investment policy.
- Ensuring that there is no conflict between any investment held and the aims and objects of Mind in Kingston.
- Monitoring the organisation’s investment activity and ensuring it is consistent with the organisation’s policies and legal responsibilities.
- Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, for example the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar of Companies.

What will you be doing?
The Treasurer plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of Reducing the Risk. This role involves overseeing the charity's financial affairs, ensuring financial viability, and ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The Treasurer provides strategic financial guidance to the Board of Trustees and supports the charity's mission through sound financial management.
Time commitment:
- Estimated on average 1 day a month, with an expected increased time commitment at Year End and the Annual Return months. Initially, the time commitment will be slightly higher whilst you settle into the role and complete our induction.
- Board meetings: 4 board meetings and 4 committee meetings a year
- Meetings may be in person or online and timings are agreed by those involved
What are we looking for?
Essential:
- A strong background in financial management, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Understanding of SORP requirements and charity law, or willingness to undertake necessary training.
- Experience in financial planning and budget management.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

The RSPCA OXFORDSHIRE Branch
The OXFORDSHIRE Branch was founded in 1875, we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by our Operations Manager and a team of volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.
The main activity of our branch is on rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals, we take in the animals the Inspectors rescue from cruelty and neglect, we provide them with the veterinary attention, love and care, then we find them loving new homes. We also to help members of the public with financial assistance for their animals for neutering, microchipping and unexpected veterinary fees.
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Treasurer
· Implement and maintain sound financial systems.
· Take a lead role in ensuring the committee set annual financial budgets and plan the branch income and expenditure.
· Provide a written financial report for every branch meeting.
· Liaise with auditors/independent examiners regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and treasurer’s report.
· Maintain control of all bank accounts as authorised by the committee.
· Execute and operate branch committee financial decisions and act as branch co-signatory.
· Maintain control over all branch paying-in books and receipt books and to ensure their correct use.
· In the absence of a branch box secretary, to assume responsibility for the branch network of collection boxes.
· Arrange payment of the annual branch contribution to the appropriate RSPCA fund.
· Coordinate financial control of all branch fundraising activities.
· Make quarterly VAT returns to headquarters promptly.
· Ensure the production, monitoring and annual review of the branch’s financial risk management strategy following the charity commission’s requirements.
· Liaise with branch officers, Branch Partnership Managers and Branch finance coordinator on Financial affairs as necessary and alert them immediately to any possible difficulties or irregularities.
· Ensure the retention and safekeeping of the branch’s financial documentation for the appropriate time as set by the charity commission.

Our care isn't restricted to one place - we care for patients wherever they call home or wherever best suits their needs.
We are now looking for new trustees to help guide and grow the work we do across Greenwich and Bexley.
We’re looking for people who share our values and bring experience in the legal, estates/facilities, retail or commercial sectors or General Practice. Local knowledge is a bonus, but not essential.
Our trustees come from all walks of life, and we welcome interest from people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you're an experienced trustee or looking to take your first step at Board level, we'd love to hear from you. Hive is a community arts charity in Shipley, Bradford. We deliver arts and crafts courses, workshops and projects from our centre in Shipley and across Bradford District. We believe that creativity contributes to good health and wellbeing and helps to bring communities together.
We're seeking new Trustees to join our board to oversee our vision and leadership and our legal and financial responsibilities.
Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the charity carries out its activities for the public benefit, in line with its charitable objectives and powers.
The Trustees take collective responsibility and have a legal duty to:

In particular we are currently looking for people with experience or skills in HR, finances, safeguarding and governance, but you do not need any special qualifications or previous experience of being a Trustee.

About Disability Peterborough
Disability Peterborough, legally registered as DIAL Peterborough, is a user-led charity dedicated to supporting physically disabled individuals and their families in Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
What will you be doing?
As a Board member of Disability Peterborough, you will serve as both a Director of the Company and a Trustee of the Charity. You will play an integral part in guiding the strategic direction of the charity to meet the needs of physically disabled people of Peterborough, ensuring it fulfils its objectives and operates in accordance with its charity objects and Articles of Association as a Company Ltd by Guarantee.
Board members are expected to gain an understanding of the organisation’s purpose, contribute their broad expertise through 6 - 8 Board meetings to make sure that the charity is strategically positioned to deliver the most effective services to physically disabled and operating good governance practice.
The estimated time commitment is approximately 4 hours per month. This includes attending Board meetings, reviewing documents, and carrying out occasional follow-up tasks.

South Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services (SLDAS) are seeking a new Treasurer to join our Board to oversee the charity’s financial governance, compliance and planning. As a small independent charity founded in 1998, SLDAS offer free and accessible support to women who experience domestic abuse in South and South-Central Liverpool. Domestic abuse has a devastating impact upon individuals, families and communities. Year on year, recorded incidents of domestic abuse have increased in Merseyside, and rose sharply during the pandemic. Women are falling through the net and we want to do more to help them.
We employ a team of nine full and part time staff who support the running of the service, including a director who joined us in April 2023, responsible for managing and developing the staff and service, and developing the strategic direction of the charity alongside the Trustees.
SLDAS is mainly funded by a number of local authority and other national grant providers with an interest in domestic abuse. Whilst this is a competitive and challenging time for all charities, we have made some steps towards sourcing new multi-year funding to expand our services, making this an exciting time to join us on the board of Trustees.

Becoming a Trustee with SLDAS offers a chance to make a real difference to the lives of women at risk of domestic abuse, but it will also offer you opportunities to meet new people, take on new challenges and volunteer in an interesting and strategic role.
To join the board of Trustees as Treasurer, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from women with strong skills and professional experience in the following areas:
• Previous Trusteeship role(s);
• Knowledge of charity accounting guidelines;
• Budgeting and forecasting;
• Management reporting, and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance trustees and staff;
• Accountancy qualification preferred, or demonstrable experience in a financial accounting role;
• Financial controls and risk management;
Successful candidate(s) will demonstrate:
• A commitment to support women in South Liverpool to live their lives free from violence, abuse and fear;
• A willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort to the role;
• A commitment to take the lead in financial governance, promoting the safeguarding of the financial viability of the Charity;
• An enquiring approach, not afraid to ask questions or challenge;
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship;
• Clear communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a board.
The Treasurer will also be expected to attend and chair the Finance Planning and Fundraising sub committee. Some mentoring hours with the Director and the Finance worker may also be expected.
SLDAS recognise that the role of a Trustee is a responsible position and that you may require training and support to conduct your role to the best of your ability. We therefore offer Trustees an induction, ongoing training and opportunities for mentoring from other Trustees.
The time commitment for Trustees is around 4-6 hours a month. Board meetings are monthly, usually in the evenings. Most of the meetings are virtual via zoom meeting, although we do try and meet in person on occasion, either at the office or in the South Liverpool area. Trustee positions are unremunerated, but reasonable travel, subsistence and childcare expenses will be reimbursed.
