We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Wimbledon Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

The Safeguarding Helpline Volunteer will support our award-winning Safeguarding Helpline Team, helping us to offer a high-quality service to people in need of advice and support.

Our helpline takes over 8000 calls a year, with call volume increasing 25% each year. 75% of our calls are from people in crisis and 20% involve children at risk of harm. To help us maintain an efficient service, we need volunteers to help administer our calls, you would not be expected to give expert advice. This role is instrumental in helping us to work in a more efficient way and ensuring an excellent service is given to our customers.

Ref: V254 | Service Group Supporter | West Kent

We’re looking for one or two service group supporters over the age of 18 years old, based at Beefeater, Hilden Manor, Hildenborough, TN10 3AN. 

You’ll be volunteering, fortnightly, on a Friday between 10:00am and 11:30am.

As a stroke group supporter you will be part of a team assisting in the running of one (or more) of these service groups and in doing so you help make a real difference to the lives of stroke survivors.

The volunteers will:

· Support people to take part in activities organised for the group.

· Assist our staff in arranging activities for the group, providing information and researching local activity options.

· Meet and greet group members and support our staff in setting-up and clearing away venues for group meetings.

· Help with other tasks to help the group run smoothly such as risk assessments and gathering feedback from people who attend.

· You might also assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in small groups. You would be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

Greenwich + Docklands International Festival (GDIF) is London's leading festival of free outdoor theatre and performing arts. It is supported by a team of 150 volunteers, and is proud to be the first festival in the UK to be awarded Platinum level in Attitude is Everything's Live Events Access Charter.

The festival runs from 22 August - 6 September 2025.

• Record the support offered to veterans accordingly and appropriately.
• Complete monitoring reports.

• Be over 21.
• Have a good level of fitness to able to move around a prison quickly - including stairs.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Awareness of boundaries and confidentiality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including prison staff, other agencies, SSAFA colleagues and clients.
• Positive, committed and non-judgemental. Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude.
• Good IT skills.
• An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. Individual prisons will determine if they authorise individuals to be based in their facilities based on security considerations. Security Vetting by His Majesty’s Prison Service is often required. For further discussion, please get in touch.
• You will need to declare potential conflicts of interest, for example any family connection with the prison.

Could You Help a Young Refugee Find Their Path?

Are you passionate about supporting young refugees and asylum seekers as they begin their journey into the UK workforce? Become a Volunteer Mentor with Breadwinners!

What Does a Volunteer Mentor Do?

As a volunteer mentor, you'll be paired with a young person in one of our two core programmes:

• Risers Programme (2 months): For young asylum seekers aged 16-24 who are awaiting refugee status.
• Breadwinners Programme (6 months): For refugees with the right to work in the UK, helping them gain vital skills and experience.

Most mentors will work with our Risers, as this program is more fast-paced, but opportunities exist to mentor our Breadwinners too.

Your role? Help your mentee gain hands-on work experience at one of our weekend market stalls and lead weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions. These sessions are designed to develop employability skills, explore future goals, and foster social connections. Many of our mentors build lasting relationships with their mentees even after the program ends.

Time Commitment:

• Market Shifts: 2 hours per weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
• 1:1 Mentoring: 1 hour per week, in person or online, to support career development.
• Ongoing Support: Stay in touch via text or calls during the week to help with logistics and provide encouragement.
