We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to help at this Wellness Walk for the morning, for the afternoon or for the whole day.

How can you get involved?

Help us set up in the morning and prepare for the big day and welcome walkers. This could include helping hand out event t-shirts, route maps or answering questions. You could then take on the walk or relax.

Help us throughout the day, supporting our team as we set walkers off and welcome them back to our wellness celebration.

Cheer our supporters on as they come back from their walk and hand out medals.

Help us pack down at the end of the day.

Volunteers who are based at the event site can take on a variety of different roles and work in morning or afternoon shifts, including:

• Answering walkers’ questions and directing around the site
• Handing out t-shirts and event packs at the registration tent
• Cheering our walkers back into the Finisher’s Area and on the route
• Handing out medals

We're STAMMA. We exist to create a world that makes space for stammering. Where a stammer is embraced as just a difference. Where no-one judges us on our stammer or the way we choose to deal with it. 

STAMMA’s Employment and Training Services work with individuals and organisations on issues related to stammering and work. We’ve worked with a range of organisations including Money Wellness, Experian, New Day, Hertfordshire County Council, the Business Disability Forum, Network Rail and the CWU. As part of this work, we create video resources and workshops, tailored to different organisations. In our workshops, we see how powerful videos are in helping those who don’t stammer understand stammering. Those workshop attendees go out and create change. We want to use more and more videos as a way of getting out there, making a difference and creating a world that makes space for stammering!  We also created a raft of new video-based training modules for our Helpline & Webchat team, which have made a huge difference to the level of support we’re able to provide to new volunteers joining the helpline.

We’re now looking for a short-term volunteer who can help us edit and caption new modules for our volunteer training programmes.

About the role

We are looking for a volunteer to join us on a short-term basis, ideally 3 hours per week from September to October 2025. The times you choose to volunteer are up to you.

Working within our Employment and Training Services, we’re hoping you’ll feel comfortable to:

•  Use video editing software such as Premier Pro, Canva or similar
• You will edit pre-recorded videos to remove unwanted sections, add in opening and closing slides, reduce background noise and caption them.

Whilst you’re working in this volunteer role, STAMMA will fund a subscription to the necessary video editing software, such as Premier Pro if you need it.

You’ll have regular contact with the Employment and Training Services teams with detailed instructions on what edits need doing. You'll also have weekly catch-up with Kirsten (STAMMA’s Services Director).

Who are we looking for?

You’re likely to enjoy this video editing volunteer role if you:

• have  some previous experience with simple video editing functions
• are able to understand written and spoken English
• have a computer which is sufficiently high spec to run video editing software such as Premier Pro
• are passionate about making the world a better place for people who stammer

As a volunteer you can, of course, step back from the role at any time. However, both you and the service are likely to get most out of the opportunity if you’re able to volunteer with us for the full length of the project, which we expect will take about two months.  If you’d like to stay on after this time frame, we’d be delighted to have you! By gradually learning and developing your confidence in the role, you can have the biggest impact.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our Wandsworth Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience with a large charity, develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced volunteer Company Secretary to play a crucial role in the effective governance and compliance of our charity. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise to a cause you care about, working closely with our CEO, Chairpersons, and Board of Trustees to ensure we meet all statutory and regulatory requirements. The Company Secretary should also be available to provide a central source of guidance and advice within THP-UK on matters of charity ethics, company law and good governance. 

Key Responsibilities

Board Meetings & Support

• Collaborate with the Chair and CEO to prepare agendas and forward plans for Board meetings.
• Circulate papers and documentation in advance of meetings.
• Attend all Board meetings (typically quarterly), ensuring meetings are properly constituted (e.g. quorum present, aligned with Articles of Association).
• Accurately minute proceedings, record decisions and actions, and circulate minutes promptly.
• Maintain records of attendance and track follow-up on agreed actions. 

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure timely filing of statutory returns with Companies House and the Charity Commission, including:
  • Annual confirmation statements and annual returns.
  • Updates to trustees, registered address, and governing documents.
  • Submission of trustees' report and audited accounts (in collaboration with auditors).
• Keep an organised archive of governance documents, policies, minutes, and resolutions.
• Act as point of contact for formal correspondence from Companies House and the Charity Commission.

Corporate & Charity Governance

• Advise the Board on legal and regulatory requirements, charity ethics, and corporate governance best practices.
• Keep up to date with statutory requirements and best practice for good corporate and charity governance and inform the Board as appropriate.
• Maintain all statutory registers.
• Conduct reviews of policies for clarity, compliance, and role-specific responsibilities.
• Assist in reviewing and submitting governance-related policies for Board approval (e.g., safeguarding, conflict of interest).
• Maintain a policy review schedule and ensure timely updates.

Trustee Support & Onboarding

• Support the Chair in maintaining an up-to-date Board Handbook and policies.
• Assist with onboarding of new trustees by providing induction packs and key governance documents.
• Signpost training opportunities and updates to ensure trustees are well-informed of their responsibilities.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience in company secretarial, governance, legal, or high-level administrative roles.
• In-depth knowledge of UK charity and company law, including Charity Commission and Companies House requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to draft clear, concise minutes and reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox and virtual meeting tools.
• Ability to work independently, flexibly, and to deadlines.

Time Commitment & Location

As a volunteer for THP-UK, you would play a vital part in our work. You will be home-based with attendance at in-person Board meetings every quarter in West London or Central London. We expect the work will entail approx. 8–10 hours per month, varying around quarterly Board meetings.

At Hestia we have gardens and outdoor spaces which require your support to bring these back to life by keeping them maintained. We are recruiting for volunteers to motivate and inspire staff and people living in our services to get involved in gardening.

Hestia provides holistic, one-to-one support in our refuges and the community. Our refuge services are for women and children, offering a safe place to stay and vital emotional and practical support.

Outside of our refuges, most of our support services are accessible by anyone who has experienced domestic abuse, including men.

• To provide tips on how to maintain and grow the garden - sowing seeds, planting bulbs, taking cuttings
• Provide basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking
• Lead in planting and nurturing new trees, flowers, and various plants
• Provide best practice on how to use the correct gardening tools
• Inspire people in our services and staff to maintain a clean garden
