As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Do you want to help lead an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy levels amongst people in the criminal justice system?

We’ve made substantial progress in recent years, with improvements and expansions to our delivery model and significant growth in our staff team. To support our strategic development, we are recruiting new Trustees to help steer our activities and strengthen our governance.

Working collaboratively with our non-executive Board of 14 trustees, your responsibilities will include shaping and monitoring the charity’s strategic direction, overseeing financial planning, risk and compliance, supporting and constructively challenging senior staff, and acting as an ambassador for our work. You’ll also ensure our governance is robust and that we meet our regulatory obligations. The role typically involves between four and ten days each year and is unpaid, though reasonable travel and other expenses will be reimbursed.

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong personal commitment to our mission, the confidence to engage in strategic and governance discussions, and a readiness to support and challenge respectfully. You do not need prior trustee experience - training and support will be provided. We particularly welcome applicants with skills or experience in governance/regulation or legal practice, digital strategy, marketing and brand development, fundraising, board-level financial management, HR and organisational development, educational practice, leadership across public/private/charity sectors, government relations, and equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging. Provide holistic end-of-life care to people who are suffering of a terminal illness, under the direction of the Palliative Care Nurse Team Leader. By caring for those often isolated, hopeless, and fearful, this position is a living example of God’s love and compassion for the weak, lonely, and marginalised members of society. This position works primarily off-ship; hot and dusty or wet (depending on season) conditions can be expected. Visiting people in their house requires cultural sensitivity.

• Support terminally ill patients and their family members through the grieving process, preparing them for death

About the role 

As a Regional Fundraising Volunteer, you will support Rethink Mental Illness in generating income, raising awareness, and building community engagement through local fundraising initiatives. The Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for formulating our digital marketing strategy, including digital fundraising strategy, guiding the content creation team, and managing the brand voice, while also laying a solid marketing foundation for the organisation.

Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?

We're looking for 5 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists volunteers ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service. 

As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.  

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.

People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.

Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.

What the role involves

This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

• Undertake a client assessments, followed by person-centred counselling (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus 4 psychometric assessments

• Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

• Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

• Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR

• Attending and participating in peer supervision support

• Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current

• Participating in volunteer meetings
• Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principle

• Attend monthly Supervision and peer support sessions to ensure safe working practices

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.

What you need for this role

Essential

• Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised membership organisations (see below)
• Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR 
• Minimum of 100 hours supervised
• Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
• A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
• Able to keep people’s personal data safe

• Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

• Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for therapy sessions plus time for administration. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.

You will join the charity during a critical and challenging period where referrals are on the rise and your expert knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our success. You will have a key role in not only developing a counselling service for our clients but also ensure we provide counselling services and mental health support to our CRPS patients & their families who are in need of our support and inclusion on a regular basis. Do you have desire, skills and capacity to help to our small & mighty charity improve its financial administration, assist us in our fundraising efforts, and help us ensure that we continue providing our much-needed services to the local community? If you're skilled in charity fundraising and/or finance, we would love to hear from you.  Previous or current trustee board experience is not essential. 

ABOUT US 
Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) is a charity that has been working to reduce conflict in the local community for over 30 years. As part of Sussex Mediation Alliance, our core services cover community mediation and conflict coaching in Brighton & Hove, and Lewes areas, while also providing workplace mediation and training services. Operationally, we are run by a small team of paid staff, and our core work is delivered by 50+ volunteer mediators.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR  
We currently have a very active board of 5 trustees and are looking for additional board members to expand on current skillset and help the charity deliver even better service to our community in a sustainable and optimised way.

Specifically, we need our new board members to help us manage financial risks, optimise ways the charity operates and help us secure funding for our future. While helpful, previous or current trustee board experience is not essential – while you need to be willing and able to understand and accept the responsibilities of being a trustee, this could be your first board role. 

Overall, we are looking for someone who:

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING  
Alongside our existing board members, you will be jointly involved in all board responsibilities, shaping the future direction of the charity and helping ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose and all resources and funds are used only in furthering its charitable objective. You will be preparing for and attending monthly board meetings, contributing to board discussions and decision making, and assisting in setting the direction for future fundraising efforts. 

Working closely with the Chair of Trustees and Finance Officer you will: 

• Oversee our charity’s financial health and administration, ensuring our strategic objectives and legal / regulatory obligations are met and all financial risks are managed 

• Provide guidance on the charity's financial viability and strategy and the financial implications of strategic and operational plans 

• Report financial information - budgets, internal management accounts, and annual financial statements - to the board. 

• Ensure we maintain proper accounting records and robust financial controls, as required by statutory bodies. 

• Lead on the development, implementation and monitoring of financial reserves, cost management, financial and investment activity and policies, ensuring alignment with our aims and legal responsibilities. 

• Act as a signatory for banking processes and funding applications.

 To have a real impact as a BHIMS Trustee Treasurer, you’ll need: 

• A strong understanding of sound financial administration and governance in the charity sector

Making sure our shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but we will show you how that works during your time volunteering with us. We value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.

You will be a friendly face of Barnardo’s by volunteering in one of our shops. It would be great if you could volunteer one shift a week (or even more if you want) but we’re always happy to be flexible to work around your availability.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Thousands of cats each year rely on the help of animal charities because they have been abandoned, they have strayed or because there has been a change in their owner’s circumstances. Becoming an administration volunteer is just one way you can help improve the lives of cats in your local community. Our administration volunteers help provide vital admin support to our volunteer groups and teams across Cats Protection. They help keep up to date records of the number of cats that have been rehomed, collate supporter details and send out newsletters. This could be the perfect volunteer role if you have administrative experience, a passion for cats, or both!

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· Recording relevant information related to your volunteer group

· Signposting enquiries to the relevant teams within Cats Protection

· Sending information to supporters, volunteers and to our Head Office

· Distributing information leaflets if required

Time expectation

Our administration volunteers usually spend 2 to 3 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

BOARD TRUSTEE – COMMUNITY MEDIATION [FUNDRAISING]

Role: Board Member (Fundraising) 
Reporting To: Board of Trustees

Are you passionate about reducing community conflict? Do you have desire, skills and capacity to help to our small & mighty charity improve its financial administration, assist us in our fundraising efforts, and help us ensure that we continue providing our much-needed services to the local community? If you're skilled in charity fundraising, we would love to hear from you.  Previous or current trustee board experience is not essential.

ABOUT US
Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) is a charity that has been working to reduce conflict in the local community for over 30 years.  Our core services cover community mediation and conflict coaching in Brighton & Hove, and Lewes areas, while also providing workplace mediation and training services.  Operationally, we are run by a small team of paid staff, and our core work is delivered by 50+ volunteer mediators.
 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We currently have a very active board of 5 trustees and are looking for additional board members to expand on current skillset and help the charity deliver even better service to our community in a sustainable and optimised way.

Specifically, we need our new board members to help us secure funding for our future. While helpful, previous or current trustee board experience is not essential – while you need to be willing and able to understand and accept the responsibilities of being a trustee, this could be your first board role.

Overall, we are looking for someone who:

• Brings different perspectives, skills and ideas to conversations and decision making

• Shares our vision and values, a strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and a real desire to support the local community

• Seeks to collaborate, and thrives working in a team while using impartiality, common sense and independent judgement

• Conducts trustee-related activities at approximately 5 hours per month

• Can attend in-person and/or online monthly meetings and our AGM

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING
Alongside our existing board members, you will be jointly involved in all board responsibilities, shaping the future direction of the charity and helping ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose and all resources and funds are used only in furthering its charitable objective. You will be preparing for and attending monthly board meetings, contributing to board discussions and decision making, and assisting in setting the direction for future fundraising efforts.

Working closely with our Chair of Trustees and Treasurer, you will:

• Design and oversee our fundraising strategy; help us set goals and align our fundraising efforts to our organisation's needs, as well needs of our service users and existing funders expectations

• Further help us shape and develop funding streams to resource service development – as well as source additional funding to support what is already in place 

• Support and actively participate in our fundraising efforts, including fundraising campaigns, from overseeing grant writing and submission to donor cultivation and advocacy

• Act as an advocate, clearly articulating the organization's mission, programs, and impact to inspire others to support the cause

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
As our Fundraising Trustee, you'll need:

• A good understanding of charity landscape, including fundraising and grant opportunities and restrictions, and willingness to expand to areas relevant to our charity

• A strong ability to oversee the writing of compelling grants and fundraising bids

• A “thinking outside the box “approach: what we deliver for our users is vital, but the funding opportunities are few –  so on top of helping us keep ongoing funders relationships solid, we’ll need you to be thinking of new ways to help us secure funding going forward 

• A tenacious attitude, and a lot of resilience

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

You can expect us to

· Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection

· Ensure you have all you need in place to foster the cat(s) in your care, for example equipment and food

· Cover all your foster cats’ expenses and agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy

· Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

● A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us

● Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction

● A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare

Time expectation

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.

It Gets Better UK is a lived-experience-led LGBT+ youth charity, working to tackle the disproportionate mental health challenges LGBT+ young people face today, through a collection of community-sourced, lived-experience stories; educational programs; and community-building initiatives.

About the role

We’re looking for a volunteer to help build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners who want to support It Gets Better UK. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, spotting opportunities, and helping businesses make a positive impact for LGBTQ+ young people.

What you’ll do

• Research companies whose values align with our mission.
• Support the team with preparing partnership proposals and presentations.
• Help track and maintain relationships with existing partners, including sending thank-yous and updates.
• Identify opportunities for workplace fundraising, volunteering, or pro bono support.

What we’re looking for

• Great communication and organisational skills.
• An interest in relationship-building and networking.
• Enthusiasm for LGBTQ+ equality and the power of storytelling.
• Previous experience in corporate fundraising, partnerships, or business development is helpful but not essential – we can support you to grow in the role.
