RAK employs 15 staff and currently has nearly 200 volunteers. In 2023/24 more than 2,000 people benefited from our services

Role overview

The main duties of the post

· Overall strategic development and management programmes for adults at the Community Hub

· Collaborative work with and engagement of project partners and other agencies in the borough

· Ensuring Monitoring and evaluation takes place

· General responsibilities within the organisation

1. Overall strategic development and management of the Community Hub Programme

Manage and develop the Community Hub providing activities, personal development opportunities and information for refugees and people seeking asylum.

Line manage ESOL Coordinator with supervision and appraisals supporting their CPD

Work with the ESOL Coordinator and volunteers to develop activities and client engagement within the project.

Plan and ensure delivery of short courses, workshops and events either in house or facilitated by partners.  Promote local activity and encourage client participation in line with the requirements of the Big Lottery funding.

Oversee project activities in all venues ensuring practical and active implementation of all policies and procedures, particularly Health and Safety, Risk Assessments, and Safeguarding 

Work with Volunteer Coordinator to support and supervise volunteers to a high standard.

Manage Venue bookings

2. Collaborative work with and engagement of project partners and other agencies in the borough

Source and work with project partners on successful delivery of activities and events within the project and promotion of wider activities in the borough

Build relationships to facilitate client progression and promote the organisation

Work with the volunteer coordinator to use local networks and food resvue partnerships to ensure the provision of Food and refreshments

3 Monitoring and evaluation

Ensure up to date records are maintained on the RAK database

Maintain and further develop Monitoring and Evaluation, recording participation and achievements implementing rigorous consultation processes for all participants, regular surveys and clients focus group activities

Prepare reports for the funders

4 General Responsibilities within the organisation

Team responsibilities including attending staff meetings, dealing sensitively with service users and facilitating internal and external referrals.

Work within the team to deliver a holistic service for clients.

Work within the team to undertake duties to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

Represent RAK at external meetings as agreed with the CEO, attend training, keep

up-to-date with changes in the asylum system.

Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.

About the role:

This role is based at Lancaster Police Station. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.

As an IDVA working on Operation Provide you will:

• Work with the Police safeguarding team to identify high risk victims of domestic abuse.
• Check internal systems to check if victims are known or open to internal services and liaise with same.
• Conduct joint visits with the police to victims who are at serious risk of harm to provide independent information about their rights and options to enable them to keep safe from harm.
• Assess their needs and develop a bespoke safety and support plan
• Provide information and advocacy around the criminal justice process
• Liaise with internal and external agencies in order to keep the victim safe from harm and address their needs.

You will need:

• IDVA accreditation and/or have considerable relevant experience in supporting victims of domestic abuse
• a comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse & the impact on victims & families
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• an understanding of Safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
• theoretical, practical & procedural knowledge of civil & criminal justice remedies
• experience of partnership working
• good organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively
• strong crisis management skills, able to deal with difficult situations.
• Good communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal

However we will also consider employing someone as a trainee adviser if you are able to demonstrate that you possess the skills, maturity and determination to become proficient in this role.

This is a great opportunity to join the unique RCJ Advice - Citizens Advice & Law Centre. We have two court-based offices, at the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand, and at the Central Family Court on High Holborn, although we mainly now provide advice by telephone and can therefore support people who are accessing any court in England and Wales.

This new role will take overall responsibility for these two court-based offices and the front-line aspect of these services. The role will manage a team of up to 3 employees, and will recruit volunteers, to deliver the work.

The main aims of this aspect of our operations are:-

• Providing a high quality first point of contact and initial triage service online, by email, telephone and in-person
• Providing an efficient and well-managed service between clients and in particular our volunteer solicitors
• Taking responsibility for our two offices to ensure they operate practically and safely for staff, volunteers and visiting clients
• Developing more efficient and technology-based solutions as to how to  run our front of house and triage service
• Having oversight of data collection at this initial triage stage 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Family Hubs are a central tenet of the Salford City Council’s Family Partnership Early Help Service, which was established in 2017. Following a full service review, redesign and, public consultation, Salford City Council’s Early Help services for children, young people and their families aged 0-25 (family support, children’s centres, youth service) were brought together and Children’s Centre sites were re-positioned as Family Hubs.

There are currently 4 Family Hubs in the city, offering integrated services and support for families at a neighbourhood, place-based level. The Family Hubs enable integrated delivery and co-location of services such as Salford City Council’s early help teams, 0-19 health teams, youth service teams, schools’ coordinators, school readiness advisors, Area Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators, early support key workers and portage workers.

The range of services delivered through the Family Hubs includes antenatal and postnatal support, child health, early help, relationship support, parenting support, SEND provision (neurodevelopment pathway, early support, and portage), adult and child mental health support (including parent, infant mental health). Salford City Council’s Family Partnership Early Help Service took the Family Hub model to the next level of development through co-production and participation with a focus on engagement with the VCSE sector and the development of a volunteering programme, this programme of work is delivered by Salford CVS.

As a result of the partnership with Salford CVS, there has been an expansion to the existing Family Hub network to include a range of VCSE sector organisations which has built the capacity to enhance the Family Hub offer and ensure that Family Hubs are sustainable and owned by the communities they are located within.

Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell is a local charity that provides advice and information for anyone that lives, works or studies in Epsom and Ewell.

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and organised team player.  No experience of working in the charity sector is needed but the successful candidate will have a keen interest in helping people in need no matter what their background. Safeguarding Adviser 

The Diocese are seeking to employ an Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser and Cathedral Safeguarding Officer.  This is a dual-role post with time divided between the Chichester DBF and the Cathedral with the post holder being a member of the established Diocesan Safeguarding Team for both roles.

About the Role

You will work with colleagues in the Diocesan Safeguarding Team (DST) to manage safeguarding casework and promote best safeguarding practice across the Diocese. You will ensure that all safeguarding casework is managed according to the Safeguarding Code of Practice, alongside the Sussex Child Protection and Safeguarding Adults Procedures and statutory guidance.

As the Cathedral Safeguarding Officer you will work with the Dean, along with staff, volunteers, congregation members and others to ensure that all participants in Cathedral life are able to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities, and that the safeguarding culture is appropriately nurtured and resourced in line with the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards.

The principal duties include:  

• Providing support and advice to colleagues in the Diocese, Cathedral and parishes to help them understand their safeguarding duties regarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.

• Managing safeguarding cases in line with the Church of England Code of Practice.

• Working closely with statutory agencies such as the Police, Children and Adult Service and Probation services.

• Overseeing day-to-day safeguarding administration and safeguarding training at the Cathedral.

About You

The ideal candidate will:  

• Have significant experience of safeguarding casework with a statutory safeguarding agency, with substantial practice skills in the areas of safeguarding and protecting children and/or vulnerable adults.

• Have the ability to translate this knowledge from the statutory to the non-statutory field, assisting volunteers with little or no safeguarding background to understand the issues and be confident in their practice.

• Show evidence of the ability to apply good safeguarding practise in a way that delivers positive outcomes for children and vulnerable adults. 

• Be sympathetic towards the mission of the Church, although do not themselves need to have a faith.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assisted Information Officer to join us in delivering our comprehensive front line HIV and sexual health helpline service. You will need to have excellent communication and support skills, be able to deal with sensitive and challenging issues and be quick to learn new information. Context of Job

 AFK is a national charity helping young disabled people develop their independence and find employment. Our vision is a world where all people living with a disability get to lead the life they choose. As part of this we provide bespoke employment skills training and organise work placements across North London. At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25.

Job Purpose

To support young people with disabilities aged 18 to 25 to progress towards and into employment.

The role will involve liaising with education professionals and employers and brokering new opportunities for supported employment, volunteering, and work placements. You will work with young people to provide specialist one to one coaching, assess, and develop their employability skills and support them towards their own goals and objectives. 

Working Conditions

This post is 35 hours per week. The post holder will occasionally be expected to work some evenings and weekends as required by the job.

28 days annual leave will be given in addition to normal public holidays. There is a TOIL Policy.

Principle Responsibilities

· Work with a caseload of individual young people to identify and support their aspirations for future employment and formulate plans to enable them to achieve their goals.

· Contribute to progress reports, reviews, open evenings and other events with education professionals, families, and young people

· Provide intensive 1:1 support in all aspects of employment support.

· Inform and work closely with the Employment Broker on the type of jobs that trainees want sourced, or job carved so that placements can be sought.

· Refer people for specialist advice and support 

· Secure voluntary work, work tasters and work experience placements for individuals to support their journey towards employment.

· Work with our experienced Service Delivery Team to deliver or co-ordinate coaching, and training as required.

· Support people in the workplace as required.

· Develop and maintain knowledge of the local labour market and opportunities relating to employment, work experience and volunteering.

· Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local employer groups, statutory, voluntary, and private organizations to support the development of suitable opportunities.

· Engage with businesses that can create employment, volunteering, and work placements, including providing training / advice to employers as required.

· Identify any financial implications for individuals related to part time employment and disability benefits.

· Monitor the progress of individuals and keep appropriate records.

· Undertake necessary administrative duties relating to the role.

· Undertake learning and development as identified through regular appraisals and reviews.

· Carry out other duties as deemed appropriate to the post by the Executive Director of Services.

Responsibilities and Person Specification: 

This role requires a proactive and results-oriented individual to provide expert marketing support across a range of projects and initiatives. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices, with a particular focus on service marketing. 

Key responsibilities will include providing marketing advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, resolving marketing challenges effectively and efficiently, and selecting the most appropriate marketing techniques to achieve desired outcomes. 

The postholder will lead on various marketing projects, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners, including marketing service suppliers and external organizations.

You should possess a proven track record of success within a fast-paced marketing environment with relevant experience in successfully implementing innovative marketing campaigns across both digital and traditional channels is essential. 

We require someone with proven experience in coordinating innovative marketing campaigns to effectively engage service users, build communities, and achieve desired outcomes across various channels and media is crucial. 

A thorough understanding of relevant marketing legislation and regulations is essential.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9 day fortnight. It is a maternity cover role of up to 8 months.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead IRMO’s Education, Training and Employment (ETE) programme. You’ll manage a dedicated team and oversee a range of initiatives that support our community’s social, cultural and economic integration in the UK.

The ETE programme offers tailored English classes, one-to-one coaching, employability workshops, vocational training and mentoring. It also includes oversight of IRMO’s volunteer scheme, which is an integral part of service delivery and offers meaningful roles for volunteers across the programme. The Programme Manager will play a key role in developing and strengthening this area, and we are currently working towards the Investing in Volunteers quality mark.

These initiatives help people build the skills they need to access and progress in the UK labour market, while also increasing their civic and social participation. All of our work is shaped by the views and experiences of our beneficiaries, and we are committed to keeping our services relevant and responsive.

As Programme Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development of the ETE area, ensuring our work is high-quality, responsive to the needs of our community and making a real impact. You’ll also help grow the programme by strengthening existing partnerships and developing new ones.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring solid experience as both a project and line manager, with a track record of overseeing multiple initiatives, delivering against KPIs and communicating impact clearly. You’ll be confident managing people and priorities, with a keen eye for detail and a leadership style that brings out the best in your team.

You will have a strong understanding of the barriers Latin Americans face when accessing education and employment in the UK, and a genuine passion for advancing the rights and welfare of migrants and refugees.

You’ll also lead on embedding a human rights-based approach across our work through the London Communities Human Rights Programme – a four-year partnership with the British Institute of Human Rights, focused on shared learning, collaboration and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the ETE area strategy, ensuring we provide high-quality, responsive services that reflect the changing needs of our community

• Ensure grant and contract requirements are met, including achieving KPIs and delivering services on time and within budget

• Produce clear, high-quality monitoring, evaluation and impact reports for funders, partners, the Director and the Management Committee

• Manage existing partnerships effectively while building new relationships with relevant stakeholders to strengthen the ETE area

If so, this is an exciting opportunity for you to take the next step in your career by joining the Brent Irish Advisory Service (BIAS) as our Housing Adviser.

BIAS’s housing advice service supports members of the local Irish community and beyond with a range of complex housing issues, including homelessness, rehousing, tenancy sustainment and disrepair. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic person who has a background or demonstrable interest in advice, housing or homelessness to join our friendly advice team. Your role will involve contributing to the day-to-day running of BIAS’s advice service, providing specialist advice on housing via one-to-one client appointments, completing casework and advocating for positive outcomes for your clients.

You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and clients, excellent organisational skills and the ability to digest complex briefs. You will be required to manage an active caseload, ensuring that cases are appropriately actioned and recorded and that deadlines are met.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

• Providing appropriate advice, information and practical help to clients, via in-person appointments, outreach visits, telephone, letter or email. Where necessary, advocating on behalf of clients in the appropriate forums.
• Ensuring that all casework records are kept up to date and completed clearly and effectively.
• Contributing to monitoring service delivery and recording client outcomes.
• Maintaining a good knowledge of other available services, and signposting or referring clients as needed.
• Participating in regular team file reviews and supervision sessions, and contributing to maintaining BIAS’s high-quality service in line with Advice Quality Standard (AQS) requirements.  
• Engaging positively and constructively with other service providers, including local authorities and housing providers, to maintain partnerships.
• Staying up to date with developments in housing legislation and identifying opportunities to effect positive change to housing policy, together with the Advice Manager.

These are the basic duties required of the Housing Adviser. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and you may be required from time to time to perform other reasonable duties which are required for the efficient running of the organisation. We will also offer training opportunities to support your career development.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. This role will be based primarily in our advice offices in Willesden (Brent), with some outreach work in Haringey borough. There may be some options for flexible working (one day per week)

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our Active Ageing Clubs and our Be-a-friend volunteer scheme. We raise over £2 million in extra income for the most vulnerable every year and have over 3000 attendances at our club services. BIAS has exciting plans for further expansion in Haringey in 2025 and has a range of medium- to long-term grant funding, including from Ireland’s Emigrant Support Programme.
