Essential skills, experience and personal attributes:

• A relevant degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as public health, community development, community engagement, social prescribing, and/or the Herts and West Essex VCFSE sector.
• Proven experience in supporting and coordinating projects, preferably within the VCFSE, health or social care sectors.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for a flexible and self-motivated Project Assistant to join our team in Newcastle, supporting the delivery of our Home from Hospital and Community Support project.

Preventing admissions, and re-admissions, to hospital is crucial for the NHS. Re-admissions alone cost the NHS over £2 billion per year, and no-one wants to be in hospital when they can be recovering safely and comfortably at home. The Home from Hospital project was developed to help enable people to thrive back at home, and in the community, while at the same time supporting the NHS.

We recruit, train, support and coordinate volunteers, who provide a “little bit of help” to people who may be socially isolated, have health issues, or don’t have many people around them.

Our volunteers provide social, emotional or practical support, completing short-term tasks for up to 6 weeks. This includes tasks such as helping with grocery shopping, collecting and delivering medical prescriptions, in person or telephone check in’s, driving someone to an appointment, helping with paperwork, ensuring the home is safe and secure, and lots more!

As our Project Assistant, you will:

· Work closely with Volunteering Matters colleagues in a flexible and agile way, taking instruction and responding quickly to ensure beneficiaries and volunteers have the best possible experience

· Face to face and telephone contact with older people taking part in the project, completing practical, social, or wellbeing tasks to meet their individual needs

· Administrative tasks including providing updates to colleagues on project activities, processing paperwork, and other computer-based tasks to help ensure the smooth delivery of the programme

· Support with the promotion of the project across Newcastle in order to attract new volunteers and generate referrals – this may include drafting content, public speaking and giving presentations

This role is part of a fast-paced and responsive workplace environment. In order to meet the needs of the programme, we are looking for a candidate who can offer significant flexibility when it comes to working hours – ideally over 4 days per week.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the entire volunteer experience at The Diana Award, from recruitment to recognition. The Volunteers Programme Manager will inspire and support volunteers, design and develop engaging training, and foster a strong community aligned with TDA’s mission. JOB DESCRIPTION

Mentor Co-ordination (recruitment, onboarding, supervision and support) 

• Collaborate with and support the Programme Delivery team to design and deliver bespoke training for mentors, both online and face-to-face.
• Lead on the recruitment, onboarding, and training of mentors, working with programme delivery team to deliver a seamless mentor journey.
• Partner with the MarComms team to coordinate communications with volunteering partners and mentors about online and face-to-face opportunities. Lead and coordinate the full mentor journey in collaboration with MarComms, including recruitment, onboarding, and training.
• Co-develop and uphold robust volunteer policies and procedures with Operations and HR, ensuring compliance with organisational standards and legislation (including safeguarding, child protection, risk management, health and safety, and data protection). Coordinate with HR on implementation, including DBS, right-to-work, and reference checks.
• Encourage best practice sharing across the volunteer community, fostering collaboration and peer learning.
• Lead on recognition and celebration of mentors, including national campaign days, showcasing their contribution to TDA’s work.
• Act as the key interface for external programme enquiries and represent TDA as an ambassador.
• Work in close partnership with Programme Facilitators to track attendance, engagement, and outcomes for mentors, ensuring reflective practice and continuous learning are embedded throughout the mentor journey.

Cross-organisation working & sharing learning

• Work with the programme delivery team to design, deliver, and review programmes, ensuring best practice in mentor support during sessions and upskilling staff where needed.
• Lead mentor recruitment and retention strategies, creating diverse opportunities to keep mentors engaged and connected to TDA’s wider strategy.
• Collaborate with fundraising and corporate partners to develop and grow partnerships that strengthen mentor engagement and support TDA’s mission.
• Innovate mentor engagement by using technology to broaden opportunities, enhance communication, and ensure effective volunteer data management.
• Champion the role of mentors internally, ensuring staff understand and maximise their contribution to TDA’s impact and strategy.

General Safeguarding Duties

• Ensure robust safeguarding practice, including responding appropriately to concerns about young people or adults involved in the programme and maintaining accurate records in line with legal requirements and TDA’s safeguarding policies.
• Equip and support mentors on safeguarding, ensuring they understand policies and procedures through training and ongoing guidance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and abuse issues, applying new developments to strengthen practice across the programme.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience of volunteer management (experience working with corporate volunteers is a bonus)
• A proven track record in designing and delivering effective and engaging training to volunteers 
• Knowledge and experience in safeguarding and child protection (or willingness to undertake training) 
• Experience of writing clear, concise and engaging policies and procedures
• A demonstrable understanding of the role of youth work in contributing to positive outcomes for young people and different models of delivery
• Experience of building and managing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including programme delivery team, external partners and funders

Local peer-led bereavement support is a core part of what we do here at Sands. This is primarily delivered by Support Groups and Sands United football teams run by dedicated volunteers right across the UK, most of whom are bereaved themselves. There are 84 Groups and 40 Sands United team across the UK who provide safe and welcoming spaces to be there for each other.

This is a high-profile and exciting new role which is responsible for ensuring that anyone affected by baby loss or the death of a baby has the chance to access Sands peer led activities in the south of England, promoting sport and activities for health, wellbeing and support services and groups, ensuring that all sections of the community are aware of available activities and where they can go to be part of the community.

We are looking for a highly engaging Volunteering and Community Partnerships Manager to lead and grow on the recruitment, development and retention of our pool of volunteers. You will work across the team to ensure all volunteers are well-supported, feel valued, and are making meaningful contributions to the charities mission. Step-Out Mentoring is an early intervention mentoring organisation that provides support for children and young people in the heart of South London through outdoor based 1:1 mentoring and group workshops. We work with children and young people aged 8-18 who are disengaged with education and/or life, referred to our service from Social care, GP’s, Mental health services and schools. Our mentors are all volunteers from the community who are trained to become youth mentors and matched to young people for weekly mentoring sessions.

Our mission is to equipe young people with the skills and emotional resilience to thrive in life. We provide a safe environment for disengaged children and young people to work through their challenges and reconnect with the community.

As a small and growing charity our staff team are embedded in all aspects of the work we do so it is encouraged that all staff engage in the activities with the young people including trips, residentials, mentoring and workshops. 

You will be leading on ensuring the charity has a steady stream of passionate volunteers and will be able to provide excellent support for them as they start their journeys of mentoring young people. You will also be leading on organising a yearly events calandar of community events and fundraisers. Kempton Steam Museum, operated by Kempton Great Engines Trust, is home to the world's largest operational triple-expansion steam engine, which supplied water to much of London until 1980. Our project, Kempton: Clean Water for Life - reaching a wider audience, is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we aim to transform Kempton Steam Museum’s engagement with visitors and the local community, while enhancing support for volunteers and care of collections.

The part-time Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating the volunteers who support the museum's operations, engineering activities and visitor experience. They will develop documentation including a volunteer agreement, handbook and role profiles and ensure that volunteers are effectively integrated into the museum's activities and that their contributions are recognised and valued. Resurrection Trading (known as Resurrection Furniture) is a vibrant friendly charity shop in Alton High Street specialising in recycled second hand furniture and home goods. We need an efficient organiser to lead our team of volunteers, manage the office and bring a creative flair to display and sales.

About us
We opened in Alton in 2017 and in 2022 moved to larger premises at 21b High Street. The charity is linked to the Parish of the Resurrection. All profits from the shop go to good causes in Alton, especially to support youth related projects, people in need, heritage buildings and the community.

The shop is a busy, friendly place supported by a skilled team of repairers in the workshop and a lively band of drivers and lifters on the van. In total we have more than 50 volunteers and the charity is led by a team of Trustees. The shop is open 10 to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Job Summary
The Manager’s role is typical for a retail high street shop except that there is no head office or back up staff - the manager and volunteers between them carry out all functions. These include:
Daily office administration - communications especially daily emails, Facebook messages and phone calls re furniture donations and sales, discussions with volunteers.
Coordination of volunteers including induction training, support and leadership,
Organising donations – selection, collection, pricing, display and delivery.
Shop organisation, administration and reporting to Trustees including publicity
 

Key Responsibilities:

Office Administration
• Deal promptly with shop communications via telephone, emails, Facebook and in person each day relating to donations, sales, and messages from volunteers
• Maintain data including personnel and customer information, finance and other record keeping.
• Manage the system of agreeing furniture donations, arranging collections from and deliveries to homes around Alton and booking slots on the van.
• Order shop supplies and maintain health and safety systems
• Manage gift aid documentation and other notices.
• Liaise with the workshop team, the van team, the Parish monthly market and Trustees

Volunteer Coordination
• Manage the volunteer rota ensuring that the shop is staffed by two to three volunteers including a lead volunteer per shift six days per week.
• Support the Trustee who manages the van rota currently four mornings per week depending on demand.
• Identify and recruit new volunteers as necessary, organise induction and regular training especially relating to health and safety, cash management and shop and van routine.
• Frequently communicate with volunteers in person, via the notice board, email and newsletter on shop organisation, sales new personnel and events.
• Liaise with lead volunteers regularly on organisation and volunteer issues.

Managing donations and sales
• In conjunction with volunteers decide on items to be accepted based on quality, saleability, existing stock from photos and other information.
• Value items not already priced by volunteers using the RF pricing guide and on-line apps.
• Ensure the shop is full of a wide range of items with back up stock kept in the store offsite.
• Promote donations via estate agents, care homes, general publicity and regular house clearances

Shop organisation
• Arrange for regular updating of shop and window displays
• Keep the shop and workshop clean and a safe environment
• Ensure that volunteers follow RF policies and procedures
• Ensure good customer relations including dealing with complaints
• Publicity including a newsletter and Facebook and website pages

We offer

• £15 per hour or £15,600 - £19500 (depending on hours worked)

Sands offers support to anyone affected by the death of a baby. 

Our volunteers are incredible! They run peer support, community-based activity, build relationships with hospitals, run football teams, cheer at events and much more. Putting them first and enabling the activity they deliver is the primary goal of the Community and Volunteering Team.

Local peer-led bereavement support is a core part of what we do here at Sands. This is primarily delivered by Support Groups and Sands United football teams run by dedicated volunteers right across the UK, most of whom are bereaved themselves. There are 84 Groups and 40 Sands United team across the UK who provide safe and welcoming spaces to be there for each other.

This is a high-profile and exciting new role which is responsible for ensuring that anyone affected by baby loss or the death of a baby has the chance to access Sands peer led activities in Scotland, promoting sport and activities for health, wellbeing and support services and groups, ensuring that all sections of the community are aware of available activities and where they can go to be part of the community.

We are looking for successful, demonstrable experience of working with minoritised communities and a good working understanding of the barriers people experience accessing bereavement support and care in statutory, health and community settings.

With experience of coordinating volunteering programmes on a regional or national basis, you will be passionate and knowledgeable about the potential for volunteering within the charity sector.

You will have excellent communication skills suitable for a range of different audiences and environments, with significant experience of volunteer management and relationship building.

Additionally, you will have experience of working with marginalised communities together with an understanding of the barriers to accessing bereavement support that these communities encounter.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a MK Services Manager to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis.

Why is this role so critical to us?

The MK Services Manager will play a pivotal role in recruiting and managing volunteers in Milton Keynes for our MK Home Visiting services.  These include reading, shopping and befriending services to ensure that local people with sight loss are not socially isolated and alone.  The role will also involve supporting our existing social clubs, which provide a range of activities and services to people with vision impairment.

• Expanding and developing the existing service: We already have a team of volunteers supporting clients in Milton Keynes, delivered from our office in Aylesbury, but believe there is the opportunity to grow and develop the service further.
• Recruitment and Management of Volunteers: Identifying and recruiting volunteers to provide emotional and practical support to people with sight loss in Milton Keynes.
• Administration Support: Providing administrative support to our social clubs, including organising activities and coordinating volunteer led activities.

You will be joining a dedicated team of 9 staff and over 40 volunteers, working for a well-respected grassroots charity. As individuals and an organisation, we are committed to welcoming, supporting and empowering refugees and people seeking asylum who live in the borough of Knowsley.

This role will require you to enjoy communicating with new and existing volunteers and have good organizational skills. You will also support the wider organization – especially the casework and community work, so an awareness of this is helpful.

The post is currently 3 days/week, with the opportunity to work flexibly across the week, but would require work on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Please read on to get an idea of the role and who we are looking for.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of this post is to support an established team of volunteers and recruit and train new volunteers. It is a role that will ensure volunteers remain up to date with training and abreast of information important to giving clear support to refugees and people seeking asylum. (The percentages in brackets give and estimated distribution of time spent in each area).

1. Provide support for volunteers (15%)

• Ensure regular and effective communication with volunteers via a variety of methods: e-mail, letters, newsletters, meetings, telephone, etc.
• Provide volunteers with on-going training and development opportunities
• Ensure volunteers have periodic project review meetings, as well as appropriate social activities

2. Coordinating volunteer activities (25%)

• To have oversight of volunteers at drop in/ English classes ensuring (i. volunteers are available; ii. resources are available at site (e.g. food or clothes for drop in))
•  Outreach volunteering such as befriending
• Back office volunteering (e.g. clothes sorting, admin)
• Ensuring that volunteers have appropriate roles and ways to progress
• Respond to any issues that arise that might then require training or reorganising of practices/policy

3. Recruit and train new volunteers (15%)

• Development of volunteer roles and opportunities in response to volunteer, staff and client feedback
• Co-ordinate the advertising, recruitment and assessment processes to ensure equality of access to volunteer roles
• Provide induction training for all volunteers to enable to fulfil their role (including health, safety and safeguarding)
• Ensure that volunteers understand the purpose, importance and process of data collection, case recording and monitoring systems and that they use them effectively where and as appropriate

4. Ensure quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation (10%)

• To develop and maintain volunteer policies and procedures in line with best practice (e.g. Investing in Volunteers)
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant and recognised best practice guidelines, policy requirements, employment law and quality standards in relation to volunteering input and management
• Co-ordinate specific client well-being events on a regular basis, engaging volunteers and other staff to support event development, organisation and delivery
• Maintain written accurate records on volunteer details and activity and other information as required, providing written and verbal reports as required

5. Additional duties relating to post (10%)

• Deliver and arrange access to training for team colleagues in relation to the above, where required
• With the CEO ensure that volunteers operate at all times within the principles of impartiality and confidentiality, in accordance with SHARe Knowsley’s vision, values, principles, policies and procedures
• Engage in relevant external meetings/ networks/ forums as agreed with the line manager

6. For SHARe Knowsley (10%)

• Actively participate in supervision and appraisal, review and planning sessions, team meetings, working groups and staff conferences and other meetings
• Carry out administrative duties associated with the post as required
• Work within SHARe Knowsley’s policies, procedures, guidelines and other agreed documents
