OVERALL, PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Night and Weekend Manager role is to ensure the effective management and operation of MPMT’s housing projects in Southeast London, focusing on promoting the safety, well-being, and personal development of children and young female residents. This includes providing strong leadership to a team of night and weekend support workers, ensuring high service delivery standards, and fostering collaborative relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders. The role is instrumental in delivering emotional and practical support to residents, overseeing efficient project operations, and enforcing organisational policies to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that empowers residents to thrive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

• Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and good practices.

• Ensure health and safety procedures are fully implemented, organise regular fire drills, and ensure all emergency procedures are understood.

• Efficiently manage evening, night, and weekend operations at Tressillian Road (TR) and Erlanger Road (ER).

Team Management and Supervision

• Supervise staff in frontline duties.

• Lead and supervise Night and Weekend Supervisors (NWS), ensuring adherence to HR policies.

• Conduct regular meetings with direct reports for supervision and support, handling disciplinary or performance issues as needed.

• Oversee the induction and training of new staff, residents, and volunteers and participate in team appraisals.

• Co-manage recruitment procedures with the Senior Operations Manager, including the interview process.

• Monitor and coordinate staff leave and sickness absence, and maintain team records using BrightHR.

Resident Support

• Participate in annual safeguarding training for children and adults and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (Level 3) during on-call and on-site periods.

• Provide emotional and practical support to residents in distress, fostering development and independence.

• Coordinate the organisation of workshops and events, integrating resident suggestions and feedback.

• Maintain contact with residents absent for extended periods without notice and facilitate welcome visits while adhering to GDPR and safeguarding rules.

Service Delivery

• Oversee the quality of support and housing services at TR and ER, maintaining rental accounts, minimising arrears, and managing terms of Licence Agreements.

• Manage complex issues or tenancy breaches.

• Lead control of voids and rent arrears and ensure new residents are effectively inducted.

• Conduct risk assessments for building and fire safety, supervise repairs, and manage reception duties.

• Ensure the completion of necessary training for all team members, including de-escalation, and handle sensitive situations professionally.

Partnership Development

• Cultivate and manage partnerships with local authorities, housing providers, and contractors to support service delivery.

• Develop new partnerships as required, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Administrative Duties

• Assist with monitoring staff rota, cover arrangements, and update internal MIS systems like INFORM.

• Handle basic rent account management tasks and assist building management at TR and ER when required.

• Ensure management decisions are executed effectively, participating in policy reviews and suggesting improvements.

ROLE PURPOSE

You will be part of a team helping to transform lives by enabling young people to manage their licenses and move towards greater independence within the community. This role requires knowledge of supporting individuals with complex needs using trauma-informed approaches and working in a Psychologically Informed Environment. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Proportionality: The occupational requirement is a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aim, as it directly addresses the needs of residents in a way that cannot be achieved through alternative measures, such as reallocating duties or employing male/male presenting staff for this role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing night and weekend operations at our Southeast London housing projects, providing leadership to support workers, ensuring resident safety and wellbeing, and maintaining high standards of service delivery in accordance with the Marsha Phoenix Memorial Trust's mission to support children and young females through secure housing and development opportunities.

An exceptional opportunity to work with a passionate volunteer-led organisation and help shape the future of a remarkable industrial heritage site. Kempton Steam Museum, operated by Kempton Great Engines Trust, is home to the world's largest operational triple-expansion steam engine, which supplied water to much of London until 1980. Our project, Kempton: Clean Water for Life - reaching a wider audience, is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we aim to transform Kempton Steam Museum’s engagement with visitors and the local community, while enhancing support for volunteers and care of collections. Three new part-time staff roles are being created to focus on volunteering, collections and managing the project.

The part-time Museum Operations and Project Manager will manage day-to-day operations and oversee delivery of the project initiatives. We will also be recruiting a Curatorial Officer (one day per week) and a Volunteer Coordinator (two days per week).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Department/Service:

The finance department is responsible for the overall financial management and administration of the 4million turnover at GSU. The department plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, including HMRC, Charities Commission, Companies House, and pensions. This includes supporting our annual external financial audit.

The finance team act as Business Partners to the rest of the organisation ensuring they understand financial processes to aid effective working. The team also work alongside our external payroll provider and our external digital system provider to ensure smooth and effective working.

Job Purpose:

Provide a professional, accurate, and timely accounting service in respect to all management and statutory reporting. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external support services to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance department, ensuring excellence in service delivery.

Reports to:

• Currently reporting to the CEO whilst the senior management role in the Finance Department is under review. The senior management post is currently vacant.

Responsible for:

• Supporting, managing, supervising, and developing one Finance Coordinator and one Finance Assistant.
• Temporary Interns and/or student staff supporting the Finance team as required

Duties and Key Responsibilities

1. Management and Statutory Reporting:

• Prepare accurate management accounts on a timely basis each month.
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly, including accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports, including VAT Returns, Companies House, and Charities Commission Annual Returns.
• Support the preparation of the annual accounts for the external financial audit and play an instrumental role during the audit process.
• Reconcile GSU bank accounts including PayPal online accounts weekly and monthly.
• Reconcile Commercial Income to Bank Accounts producing weekly sales and analysis reports.

2. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cashflow Statements:

• Support in the preparation of the annual budget and reforecasts.
• Create forecast reports and statements as and when required.
• Produce monthly and annual cashflow and liquidity statements.

3. Business Partnering and Collaboration:

• Act as a business partner to all GSU staff members, providing financial insights and support to meet organisational goals.
• Work alongside external support services (e.g., payroll providers and digital finance systems) to ensure smooth operations and excellence in the Finance department.
• Collaborate with external auditors and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective financial management.

4. Managing and Supervisory Duties:

• Supervise and support the professional development of two GSU finance staff members.
• Foster a team culture that promotes accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

• Supervise and support interns and student staff as appropriate.

5. Digital Systems and Processes:

• Maintain efficient digital finance systems and processes to streamline financial operations (Twinfield, Ezora & Basecone for example).
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of digital records and reporting systems.
• Evaluate and improve digital tools and workflows to enhance departmental efficiency.

6. General Finance Department Duties:

• Oversee and assist with sales ledger, purchase ledger, and payroll functions as needed.
• Support the Finance Coordinator and Finance Assistant to issue and maintain records of purchase orders and associated invoices.
• Support the Finance Coordinator and Finance Assistant to maintain and post all petty cash transactions.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and information for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Trustee Board, and other stakeholders as required.
• Respond proactively to financial queries from GSU staff.
• Support the ongoing review and development of Finance department systems and procedures.
• Maintain customer-facing systems and ensure smooth operations for Finance department stakeholders.

7. External Audit and Compliance:

• Prepare schedules and reconciliations for the annual audit.

The Healthy Ageing Project will address specific challenges within the community, while actively promoting healthy ageing in practical and effective ways across our network.

We will focus on the strengths and expertise of our member groups to promote engagement with Ireland's unique music, dance, sport, language and culture.

We will work together with our members throughout this three-year journey. Together, we will develop, launch and promote a project geared towards improving health and wellbeing, reducing health inequality and providing strategic direction for national health programmes and policy recommendations for the Irish community.

This post is part time (17.5 hours per week) and will be based in the Midlands/ North of England, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester etc.

About the Role

As Therapy Services Manager, you will:

• Lead and manage a diverse, newly formed team including cancer and wellbeing coordinators, family support, holistic therapists, and our Heritage and Wellbeing Lead.
• Oversee and develop Aurora’s integrated programme of cancer and wellbeing support, ensuring services are welcoming, client-centred, and delivered to a high standard.
• Manage and grow our children and family therapy service, coordinating delivery from both staff and volunteers.
• Drive the development of community-based wellbeing programmes for the wider public.
• Work in partnership with local health professionals and support organisations to ensure efficient referrals and seamless care pathways.
• Be a key member of Aurora’s Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning across our three centres.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Line-manage, mentor, and support wellbeing staff and contracted therapists, including onboarding, training, and professional development.
• Ensure high-quality service delivery through evaluation, audit, and data reporting in line with contract requirements.
• Lead new wellbeing initiatives, ensuring innovation translates into good practice.
• Maintain a safe, relaxed, and welcoming environment at our centres, reflecting Aurora’s ethos of person-centred, non-clinical care.
• Represent Aurora at key meetings and build partnerships across Primary and Secondary Care to support personalised care pathways.
• Promote integration across Aurora’s services – from support groups to exercise classes and wellbeing workshops – to ensure clients benefit from a holistic support offer.

Job Title: Assistant Kitchen Manager

Salary Range: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum (Dependent on experience)

Location: Felix’s Kitchen, Unit 14 Industrial Estate, Thomas Road, E14 7BN

Hours/Days per week: 37.5 hour per week, 8.5 hours per day (between 8am - 8pm). Monday – Saturday (5 days on, 2 days off). Operating hours of the kitchen are, Monday-Thursday 7:30am-8pm, Friday 7:30am-6pm, Saturday 8am-4pm. Most working days will be between 8am-6pm for this role.

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity. Our vision is a London where good food is never wasted, and no one goes hungry. We aim to reduce the negative impact food waste has on the environment by working with the food industry to rescue high quality surplus produce, that would otherwise have gone to waste. This food is sorted at one of our four depots or turned into meals in Felix’s Kitchen. It is then distributed to over 1,200 community organisations, such as food banks, homeless shelters and primary schools, all of whom are working within communities across London to feed people experiencing hunger.

Purpose of the Job 

We are looking for the Assistant Kitchen Manager to play a key role in the Kitchen team.

Felix’s Kitchen is the longest running Production site we have here at The Felix Project, the staff and volunteer team in the kitchen, turn surplus food into almost 5,000 meals a day. These meals are cooked and packed on site and then go into our network of depots and on to some of the 1,200 community organisations we support.

This role is support in the managing of the day to day running of the kitchen, its team, the food production and packing of the meals and all aspects related to these responsibilities. Assist The Kitchen Manager in all aspects of the operation and planning for the kitchen.

No two days are ever quite the same in our kitchen, we work with volunteers and surplus food this means we adapt and thrive in a fast and changing environment. This role supports and oversees the entire operation, from the kitchen and chef team to the packing room and packing team, our volunteers and engaging and organising within the wider Felix Project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your normal duties and responsibilities will be set out in your job description. However, the charity may require you to perform other duties from time to time. 

• Support all kitchen staff so they can fulfil their role
• Assist in the smooth running of the kitchen and packing area, taking a hands-on approach
• Ensure that the operation hits its agreed targets of production
• Responsible for the quality control of the cooked and packed meals, and that all correct HACCP procedures are followed
• Responsible for Health and Safety in the kitchen, food safety and record keeping and keeping all records up to date
• Oversee kitchen maintenance and cleaning
• Overseeing shift planning and the rota for the entire kitchen team
• Ordering of all food and other materials needed in the kitchen
• Connect and work closely together with the team at the Poplar Depot, we are attached to
• Ensuring all staff and all volunteers have all relevant training and are well supervised & supported
• Maintain relationships with the wider Felix team and key connections of the Felix kitchen
• This role will be operational, with some management and administrative duties
• Willingness for the role to develop

Person Specification

This is a truly unique role, and we are looking for someone to bring their own skills, experience and flair to the role. We are looking for someone to help set and maintain very high standards in the kitchen.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is eager to continuously improve, whether this be food quality or process or working relationships. The kitchen has achieved some great successes over the last 4 years, but we are looking for someone to continue that improvement and the impact we can have across London.

Essential Criteria

• Experience in hospitality/catering management and/or kitchen management role
• Eagerness to improve processes and solve problems
• Comfortable with all aspects of H&S, Food Safety and HACCP procedures or a willingness to learn
• Demonstrable interest in food waste and/or food security
• Clear eye for detail, team player, enjoys the work they do and a strong work ethic
• Comfortable in working in a team and a larger organisation
• Strong people and management skills
• Mature and professional management style, whilst also being able to accommodate vulnerable people with care and consideration
• Flexible in working hours, comfortable in working in a fast changing and growing work environment
• Strong IT, administrative and organisational skills

Desirable skills 

• Previous experience in the charity or surplus food environment 
• Level 3 or higher Food Safety qualified 
• Experience working with and/or managing volunteers
