The role involves

• Welcoming older people who are new to the FAB café
• Facilitating conversation and activities in the group
• Promoting your local FAB café and the FAB membership card scheme

• Providing information about events and activities happening in the local area with the support of the FAB team

We are looking for 3 experienced creative content writers who will enjoy planning, updating and delivering the content for our website, members magazine as well as other digital and print materials. We deal with a wide range of people and professions, which means that it can be difficult to consistently communicate with everyone effectively. Therefore, a communication and marketing volunteer will help to market our projects, services and the condition more widely than we are currently able to do. Evaluate the way we communicate with volunteers, members of the public and helping us to develop better ways of doing this
• Social media snippets - create information and case study snippets for the various social media platforms
• Press Releases and any content that could be used in different channel
• Annual Review/Brochure writing: Create or update copy for a brochure or our annual review, highlighting our impact current and potential stakeholders

Volunteer Prospect Researcher
This role supports our fundraising efforts by identifying and researching potential donors, funders, and partners. Responsibilities include online research, data analysis, and preparing prospect profiles to support strategic fundraising.

We are looking for our next Regional Finance Support/Treasurer to join the RDA North West Region’s committee. Are you:

1. Someone with excellent financial skills;

4. Ideally based in the North West (Cheshire/Merseyside/Lancashire/Greater Manchester)?

RDA is a National Charity which operates with a vast network of volunteers (as well as staff at National Office) to give direction and support to RDA Groups throughout the UK who provide opportunities for therapy, achievement and enjoyment for disabled participants through horses.Over 39,000 participants are supported a year.In addition to horse riding, and carriage driving, the charity offers other activities such as “Tea with a Pony” for those affected by dementia.There are 21 RDA groups in the North West Region, which are each independent charities federated to RDA.

Each Region has a Regional Committee formed of regional and county volunteers. Regional Committees help support the Groups with their RDA activities; promote the work of the RDA within their Region and play a vital role in organising the Regional Show and the Regional Conference.The Region funds its work from fundraising and donations.

One key role within the Regional Committee is the Regional Treasurer.The role, in the North West. is currently undertaken by a Cheshire based accountant who is looking to step down after nearly 10 years.

• The role takes around 2-3 hours a month and is not very onerous.
• Quarterly reports and budgets, for National Office, are prepared in conjunction with our Regional Chair (Sheila Saner).A finance report is also circulated to our Regional Committee before their quarterly (approx.) meetings.  Most meetings are on Zoom or MS Teams, so the role can be done remotely.
• There is a quarterly zoom meeting with the Finance Director, at National Office, who updates Regional Treasurers.The meeting lasts around an hour.
• You will be involved in any finance discussions with the Regional Committee, including any grants to be made to Groups from the Region’s funds.
• You will oversee investments held by the Region.
• The Finance Support/Treasurer pays any expenses to Regional Officers through Bankline (our Regional Chair then authorises them).There are only 10 Regional Officers. 

We are lucky to have a wonderful group of supportive volunteers on the Regional Committee and there is normally someone who will step up to assist if someone else can’t make a meeting or are struggling with other commitments.

Our current Regional Treasurer is happy to provide a full handover to the incoming Treasurer and answer any questions about the role.

Action Tutoring is a national education charity that offers free maths and English tutoring to pupils facing disadvantage. 

By volunteering as a tutor at a local school or online, you'll be supporting children to build their confidence and help ensure they leave school with the grades needed to build a bright future.

RSPCA Surrey East Branch

We are looking for fosterers in the Surrey East area, including Redhill, Reigate, Dorking, Horley, Lingfield, Oxted and Caterham.

We’re looking for cat-loving volunteers to play a vital role in helping us improve the wellbeing of the cats in our care whilst they wait to be rehomed. Can you help them by providing a calm and caring home whilst we find their purrfect forever home?

Overview of the opportunity

As a cat fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA in providing our cats with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you will play a crucial role in a cat’s wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.

Once everything is in place, the branch will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your fostered cat.

Our Animal Welfare Officer, Robyn, is the fostering coordinator, so she will provide our fosterers will all the help and support they need. We are a small, remote branch, so fostering will be the backbone of our rehoming operation. Volunteers will play an integral part to our branch. We don't operate at a large capacity, so we will always be on hand to support fosterers and navigate the fostering process with them. They will be joining the branch at a very exciting time, as we have only just launched our cat fostering scheme.

Whilst our cats are in your foster care, you will:

• Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.

• Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.

• Transport them to any veterinary appointments (if required)

• Provide them with your time and patience.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Cat Fosterer

• Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for cats.

• Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.

• For their wellbeing, our cats need to be kept in a separate room, so the whole family should be on board.

• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).

It is worth mentioning that our cats do have different needs as whilst some are ready for rehoming others may require rehabilitation or ongoing medication. Therefore, we also aim to understand your situation and circumstances to ensure that we match you with your perfect foster cat.

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and depending on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

Do you enjoy public speaking? Do you want to share the message of who Mencap are, what we do and bust some myths to groups and corporates around learning disabilities? If the answer is yes, then our Mencap Volunteer Speaker role could be for you!

We’re looking for confident public speakers to represent Mencap by delivering Lunch and Learn talks. You’ll be fully supported with training, guidance, and a prepared presentation and script. In this role, you’ll deliver engaging sessions either in person or virtually via Teams, reaching a wide range of groups and organisations.

Frequently you'll be co-delivering these talks with people with a learning disability, so you'll hear first hand their stories and the impact you'll make.

For this role you will need access to your own laptop.

We want to spread the message of who Mencap are and the amazing work we do, so as well as attending lunch and learns requested by our current corporates, we're looking for volunteers who will as part of the role, proactively; research, reach out and contact local groups (e.g: Rotary Clubs, Women's Institutes) and share our lunch and learn presentation with them.

The role also gives you the opportunity to attend cheque presentations and act as a representative for Mencap at supporter’s fundraising activities.
