Hours: 3-4 hours per week. We are currently looking for candidates who can support us for shifts between 10am-10pm. Any day, Monday – Friday and 10am-6pm Saturday & Sunday.

Ref: V256 | Communication Service Supporter | Oxfordshire

We’re looking for 1 or 2 volunteers over the age of 18 years old, to provide communication support to stroke survivors at some of our support groups in the OX16 Banbury area, with the potential to volunteer in wider Oxfordshire as well.

You’ll be volunteering fortnightly on a Wednesday morning between 10:30am and 12:30pm. In addition to a regular commitment on a Wednesday morning there may be additional hours required. The date and time for these would vary depending on the needs of the of the stroke survivors we were supporting at the time but advance notice would be given.

We are looking for communication service supporters to assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in a group setting.

The volunteers will:

· Be an effective communication service supporter you need great listening skills and be able to support people in an empathetic and non-judgemental way.

· Be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.

If you are someone who enjoys conversation, meeting new people and likes to try new things, then this role might be a good one for you.

Join Off The Record, an independent charity that has been proudly serving the Havant Borough area since 1977. Our mission is to empower young people and their families in South East Hampshire by supporting their emotional health and well-being. We provide vital one-on-one and family counseling, support, a young carers project and group services for individuals aged 8-25 and their families.

If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, we invite you to volunteer with us at our main office, located at 138 Purbrook Way, Leigh Park. We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to support our counseling service by answering phones, providing information, engaging in friendly conversations, and offering signposting advice to clients awaiting our services and also opportunities to assist with awareness events and our group activities and young carers services.

We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to assist our Client Service Administrator on Reception in hosting our busy reception area and friendly waiting room. In this role, you will use your excellent interpersonal skills to welcome clients and visiting professionals and other volunteers to the Helen Bamber Foundation, making them feel comfortable, attending to any immediate needs they may have, assisting them with their queries and notifying clinicians and other staff of their arrival.

You will be at the heart of an exciting, team of experts working as a representative of the Helen Bamber Foundation and the first point of contact for our diverse range of clients and visitors.  You will be a self-motivating team player, organised, efficient and have a compassionate mind-set. 

Main tasks and activities

• Greeting clients and ensuring that clients are having their immediate needs met;
• Ensuring the reception is well-presented;
• Answering the phone and responding to a wide range of enquiries;
• Maintaining the shared Outlook calendar and co-ordinating room allocations;

We are looking for volunteers to join the food bank team. This could include warehouse volunteering, being a driver's mate, administration or volunteering at supermarket collections. There are multiple roles available, from as little as 1 hour a day.

Our Community Volunteers are vital in enabling us to continue to feed the 2.4 million children we feed every day and to help us reach the next child. They use their talents in their communities to spread the story of Mary’s Meals.
