As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking Trustees to join the Oasis Charitable Trust Board and Trustees for our subsidiary boards – Oasis Community Learning, Oasis Community Housing, Oasis Community Partnerships, and Oasis Restore. While we remain open to professional expertise, we hope to appoint effective non-executives who can scrutinise, challenge and support executive leaders as Oasis enters its next strategic phase.

Oasis Trustees play an important role in the effective management and governance of the charity, holding ultimate responsibility for its actions and decisions. Key responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g. with the Charity Commission and the Department for Education), safeguarding assets and using our networks and resources responsibly.

Beyond your fiduciary duties as a Trustee, you will be a custodian of our ethos, ensuring that our leaders embody our purpose for the public benefit. You should exercise reasonable care, skill and diligence, seeking professional advice when necessary, especially where your specialist knowledge is required.

Trustees collaborate to make well-informed decisions that serve our long-term success. The responsible management of the charity’s resources involves making judicious decisions aligned with the organisation’s objectives and implementing policies to safeguard its assets.

About the role

ADHD Aware, a Brighton-based national charity, empowers adults with ADHD, their partners, and families through peer support groups, courses, neurodiversity training, and online resources – all run hands-on by volunteers like you. As our Finance Trustee, you'll safeguard our growth by keeping accounts current, ensuring governance excellence, and driving financial strategy in a small, agile board with no full-time staff – perfect for those ready to commit real hours to make a tangible impact.​

Why This Role Matters

In this voluntary Treasurer position, you'll oversee financial reporting, budgeting, compliance with Charity Commission rules, and risk management using tools like QuickBooks, directly fueling our vital ADHD support services. Your oversight ensures every pound advances our objects: peer-led groups, neurodiversity training for employers, and accessible online help that transforms lives affected by ADHD. Hands-on involvement means you'll keep our accounts up-to-date, liaise with stakeholders, and provide board guidance – a pivotal role in our volunteer-driven sustainability.​

In addition to a charity Trustee’s statutory duties, the Finance Trustee (or Treasurer) plays a vital role in overseeing the financial affairs of the charity, ensuring its financial viability during a potential growth period, and making sure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The Treasurer provides strategic financial guidance to the board and ensures compliance with relevant financial legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Oversight and Reporting:

• Oversee the charity’s financial activities, ensuring they align with its mission and objectives.
• Provide regular financial reports to the board of trustees, highlighting key issues, trends, and risks. These include monthly management accounts and updated forecasts.
• Manage the cash flow of the charity by ensuring that receipts and payments are collected and paid in a timely manner.
• Monitor the financial performance and position of the charity, ensuring sustainability and sound management of resources

2. Budgeting and Strategic Planning:

• Lead the finance committee and provide regular updates.
• Manage the development of the annual budget in conjunction with the finance committee.
• Assist in the creation and review of the charity’s strategic plan, providing financial insights and risk assessments.
• Ensure that financial resources are aligned with the charity's strategic priorities.

3. Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including the Charity Commission requirements and UK financial legislation.
• Ensure that proper accounting records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place.
• Liaise with external auditors, managing the annual audit process and ensuring timely submission of annual accounts and reports.

4. Risk Management:

• Identify and manage financial risks, providing the board with clear advice on risk mitigation strategies.
• Oversee the charity’s investments and reserves policy, ensuring prudent management of funds.

5. Supporting the Board:

• Act as the main point of contact for financial matters, providing guidance and support to fellow trustees.
• Work closely with other trustees to ensure that the board is fully informed of the charity’s financial status and has the necessary information to make sound decisions.
• Contribute to the board’s overall decision-making process, offering a financial perspective on strategic matters.

6. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Liaise with key stakeholders, including funders, regulatory bodies, trustees and volunteers on financial matters.
• Arrange regular meetings with staff on financial matters and give advice and guidance as appropriate.
• Provide input to fundraisers for fundraising tenders.
• Represent the charity in financial negotiations and discussions as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:

• A recognised financial qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.

Experience:

• Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the charity sector.
• Experience of charity finance, fundraising, and pension schemes is advantageous.
• Experience in strategic planning and risk management.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
• Experience of Quickbooks or similar accounting software package.
• Knowledge of charity accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of financial governance and compliance in the charity sector.

Personal Qualities:

• Commitment to the charity's mission and values.
• Strong ethical standards and integrity.
• Collaborative and supportive approach, with the ability to challenge constructively.

TIME COMMITMENT

• Standard terms of Board Trustees are a period of three (3) years. Board members can usually be re-elected for a period of another three (3) years thereafter, for one (1) further term
• ADHD Aware Board Trustees will regularly attend Board meetings and/or send apologies with sufficient warning (no less than two days ahead of meeting)
• All Board members are also expected to respond within two (2) weeks to a request for review of information and comment by any other member of the Board
• If a Board member misses more than three (3) consecutive meetings, it may be appropriate to ask that Board member to resign or take a leave of absence
• Trustees will provide a minimum three (3) month notice period if they choose to step down LOCATION Please note: this role can be carried out largely remotely (via Teams or Zoom). Very occasionally, the Board may gather or take meetings at its main headquarters location in Brighton, East Sussex.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

We're looking for 2-3 detail-oriented and strategic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist Volunteers to help optimise our online presence and ensure our campaigns and content reach the communities that need them most and increase the charity’s search engine results rankings. The SEO Specialist Volunteers will play a key role in enhancing the visibility and searchability of Burning Nights CRPS Support’s website and digital content.

The SEO Specialist Volunteers will be volunteering within the Communications & Marketing Team to implement SEO best practices, conduct keyword research, improve site structure, and analyse web performance – all to ensure our content reaches a broader audience and amplifies the voice of our charity’s supporters online.

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Competitor and Keyword Research: Conduct keyword research to inform website content and campaign strategies.
• On-page optimisation: Optimise existing content for improved search engine ranking (meta tags, meta descriptions, headers, alt text, etc.)
• Monitor and analyse SEO performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEMrush.
• Technical SEO Implementation: Identify technical SEO issues and collaborate with content teams to resolve them.
• Backlink and Off-Page SEO: Assist in developing backlink strategies and improving domain authority.
• Support the content team in creating SEO-optimised articles and pages.
• Provide monthly reports on SEO performance and suggest improvements.
• Stay up to date with SEO trends, Google algorithm updates, and emerging best practices.

Key Skills or Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of SEO principles and search engine algorithms.
• Proven experience in conducting SEO audits, strategy development, and implementation.
• Experience using SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, or SEMrush or similar platforms.
• Previous experience in digital marketing, content strategy, or technical SEO.
• Ability to perform keyword research and competitor analysis.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and content management systems (ideally Django framework).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication and reporting skills.
• Evidence of organisational skills, with good attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently, turning recommendations into action without needing constant oversight.
• A passion for using your skills to support patients and families impacted by a debilitating pain condition and help save lives.
• Passion for creating inclusive and accessible digital spaces.
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Enthusiastic about supporting a small charity.
• Willing to learn, adapt, and collaborate with a supportive team.

Desirable Experience

• Experience of Google Ads for nonprofits.
• Experience of using Django framework websites.
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices and inclusive web design.
• Experience working with or volunteering for nonprofit / charitable organisations.
• Demonstrable IT skills, particularly Google Drive and Microsoft.
• Good research and information management skills.
• An understanding of the charity sector and/or fundraising.

Training and Support

• Full induction to our organisation, as well as check-ins, ongoing training, supervision and support from the Communications & Marketing Lead Volunteer, Volunteer Co-ordinators, Trustees and the Volunteer Team.
• This a remote volunteering opportunity with regular online team check-ins and collaborative sessions with a supportive, creative, and inclusive team environment.
• Relevant and ongoing training for your volunteer role.
• Regular updates on charity activities.
• Support, advice and guidance from Charity team.
• After 3 months volunteering, all volunteers are eligible for additional training courses (reasonable cost).
• Out-of-pocket expenses, approved in advance will be reimbursed.
