The Campden Charities are seeking to appoint a full time Grants Officer to join our diverse grants team.

A key appointment as we continue to drive our services, grant programmes and ongoing development of our outreach and publicity strategy.

The Campden Charities is a permanently endowed trust assisting individuals on the lowest incomes in the old parish of Kensington.  The area is one of extreme contrasts and includes neighbourhoods with significant levels of deprivation and need. The Charities awards grants totalling more than £2 million each year via programmes focused on helping individuals on very low incomes to move on in their lives be it through education, training or otherwise supporting employment.

We seek applicants who have an understanding of, and empathy towards, supporting unemployed or low-income individuals and families to improve their financial circumstances. They will be self-motivated, highly organised with excellent attention to detail, an independent thinker yet a team player and computer literate. Our grant-giving programmes are constantly evolving, input from Grant Officers plays a crucial role in shaping them.

Additional information

Place of work: 27a Pembridge Villas, London W11 3EP.  Some outreach work will be expected ranging from one-off events to placements within local organisations or community centres. 

Salary: £31,000 - £33,195 dependent on experience (generous 10% employer's pension contribution rising to 15%  after five years)

Hours of work: 37½ hours, Monday to Friday.  The usual working hours for this post are 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. Some start time flexibility could potentially be offered post-induction/training.

Holiday: 28 days per annum + Bank Holidays.

Training: Training and support in post is provided on an on-going basis and training in specific areas will be offered as need and interest arise. Following successful completion of the six-month probationary period undertaking a Level 3 QCF qualification in Advice and Guidance is mandatory.  There will also be an opportunity to undertake Level 4. At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for a Helpdesk Administrator/IT Junior Support Engineer to join our team.

You'll Administer the IT Helpdesk function across all Ambitious About Autism sites, ensuring efficient handling of support requests. You'll monitor and report on the progress of Helpdesk requests, ensuring timely completion and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the resolution process.

You'll also provide first-line support, both locally and remotely, for desktop, hardware, software, presentation equipment, and mobile devices, ensuring timely and effective resolution for staff, pupils, and young adults with autism across all sites. You'll provide training and guidance to staff on PC and mobile device usage, software applications, and IT policies—including induction sessions and ad-hoc training as required.

This role will be primarily based at the St John's College campus, located in Brighton. The role will occasionally be required to provide cover and additional resource at other Ambitious about Autism locations in London.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Demonstrated experience providing high-quality IT support through an IT Helpdesk environment, serving a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to analyse and troubleshoot technical issues, identifying effective solutions for both hardware and software problems across a range of devices and systems.
• Working knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows Operating systems, Microsoft 365 and Windows networking administration.
• Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Main Duties of the Post

Support Sessions

· To give holistic support to LGBTQ+ people accessing our supported accommodation service and to provide proactive support to these service users who are sometimes hard to engage.

· To meet service users regularly to provide structured support, in relation to LGBTQ+ and Housing specific issues, such as gender identity pathways, mental health services, health issues, safeguarding, liaising with the professional network.

· To work with LGBTQ+ people accessing supported accommodation to develop and review individual support plans and risk assessments.

· To liaise with other service providers ensuring service users receive the necessary support to sustain their accommodation, acquire relevant independent living skills, maintain or improve positive physical and mental health and access into meaningful occupation of their time.

Financial Support

· To assist service users in maximising and managing their income including universal credit, ESA, PIP and Housing Benefit.

Semi-independent Living Support

· To work with service users to enable them to develop the life and social skills necessary to sustain their accommodation and prepare them for independent living.

· To assess individual service user’s suitability for independent accommodation.

· To act quickly to manage incidents and to advise, support and assist service users unable to maintain supported accommodation into more appropriate housing options.

Resettlement

· To support service users in the completion of application forms necessary to support move-on housing, including the private rented sector.

· To ensure that all service users are provided with information about local services whilst in supported accommodation and during their move on.

· To ensure all service users are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities in their home.

· To work with housing providers, both public and private, to negotiate move on options.

Groupwork, Consultation and Participation

· To work as part of a team in developing user participation.

· To identify and develop appropriate and flexible processes for consulting with our service users, via social media platforms, newsletters, events and workshops.

· To devise innovative and creative ways of involving LGBTQ+ people in the running of the schemes with an independent approach.

· Supporting our residents to participate in group and peer support and to access online support mechanisms.

· Facilitating and promoting an LGBTQ+ group work programme.

Other Duties

· To establish and maintain accurate and complete records in all areas of work.

Essential Experience

·       Lived experience, or experience of working with homeless people or vulnerable LGBTQ+ people, in a voluntary or paid employment setting.

Essential Knowledge

· Knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of homelessness, particularly in relation to LGBTQ+ people.

About the Role

We seek two analytic and entrepreneurial Research Managers to contribute to our ambitious research agenda, and scale the Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program from launching ~12 charities per year to 20. Future Growth Trajectories

The AIM research team is an excellent training and development ground for researchers. Over time, we expect research managers to gain increasing degrees of independence and eventually own work streams as senior research managers. 

Previous staff have also started organizations and gone on to work in other research and grantmaking institutions, including Founders Pledge and Open Philanthropy. Research fellows from our AIM Research Training Program have gone on to work for several highly impactful research organizations, including Giving What We Can, Animal Charity Evaluators, Animal Advocacy Africa, and Giving Green.

We, the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA), are two sister charities focused on the promotion of scientific, evidence-based approaches to animal welfare. We fund research, support the animal welfare science community, and advocate for evidence-based improvements to animal welfare worldwide. Communicating animal welfare science to both specialist audiences and the wider public is key to turning knowledge into real-world improvements in animal welfare. The Scientific Communications and Content Assistant will support us to deliver our scientific communications strategy by helping to draft, design and publish engaging content for our print and digital platforms. This includes assisting with the creation of visual and written content that effectively convey complex scientific information to our diverse audiences.

The role will report to our Scientific Communications and Outreach Manager and work closely with the Public Affairs Lead and other internal teams to create engaging content for our audiences. We are seeking candidates with strong written, editing and visual skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of our small multi-disciplinary team and be confident to work unsupervised when necessary. You will be happy working across multiple projects, adapting to different communication styles and priorities, and keeping messaging clear and consistent across varied audiences.   

This role will be home-based. Because we’re based in the UK, the appointee will need to be UK-based and legally entitled to work in the UK. You will be expected to occasionally attend our offices in Hertfordshire to carry out duties as required and attend meetings. Travel costs and subsidence will be covered for you in these situations. The role may also require occasional travel within the UK and possibly overseas for events and other relevant activities - some of which may occur at weekends or in the evening. 

What you’ll be doing

• Drafting copy, designing graphics/visual materials (eg using Canva) and producing content for print, web, email, and social media 
• Overseeing the Charities’ day-to-day social media activity, including scheduling posts, monitoring channels, and responding to engagement.
• Assisting with the creation and dissemination of the Charities’ content including but not limited to press releases, newsletters, and digital campaign materials.
• Liaising regularly with internal teams to stay up to date on the Charities’ activities and to plan and schedule content across channels.
• Monitoring social media analytics and Mailchimp performance metrics to support reporting and strategy development.
• Collaborating with internal teams, for example Fundraising, to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
• Occasionally creating, editing and publishing video content.
• Liaising with external agencies, partners and stakeholders.
• Ensuring all materials and communications are accessible and inclusive.   
• Occasionally travelling within the UK and overseas for conferences, meetings and other events - some of which may take place during evenings or weekends.

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in digital communications, content creation and social media.
• Demonstrable writing and editing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms (eg LinkedIn, Facebook, BlueSky and YouTube) and scheduling tools such as Hootsuite.
• Experience using graphic and content design tools such as Canva.
• Ability to monitor, analyse and interpret performance analytics from platforms including Mailchimp, social media, Hootsuite etc.
• Proven organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of working collaboratively with diverse teams, with well-developed interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of and commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
• Experience working within brand and tone of voice guidelines.
• Experience creating content tailored to a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders.
• An understanding of and comfort with the Charities’ approach to animal welfare which includes co-operation with the livestock and slaughter industry, as well as laboratory animal researchers. Whilst both charities promote the highest standards of animal welfare, they do not oppose the use of animals by humans for research or food.

• Experience working in a charity or non-profit environment.
• A background in science such as a BSc or relevant experience in a scientific charity or setting.
• Knowledge of animal welfare science and practices.
• Familiarity with website content management systems such as WordPress.
• Experience creating and editing video content.

We are now looking for an experience Domestic Abuse Officer to provide an effective, efficient, and supportive service to women who are victims of domestic abuse providing emotional, practical and welfare support. As our Domestic Abuse Officer, you will provide a high-quality pro-active service to victims of domestic abuse and other forms of VAWG in either 1:1 or group settings delivering a service to those at medium and low risk.

As a Domestic Abuse Officer, your responsibilities will be:

· To work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse.

· To ensure that women are enabled to access their rights and are informed about their options.

· To reach out to survivors of domestic abuse and raise awareness of domestic abuse and local services offered.

· To support and implement the aims and objectives of Young Ladies Club ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with Young Ladies Club policies and procedures.

· To facilitate or co-facilitate the support groups

· To facilitate the provision of culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions and counselling services.

Required Skills and Experience:

· Demonstrable qualifications and/or experience in the field of domestic violence accommodation and support.

· An excellent working knowledge of key issues faced by black and minoritised women who have experienced Domestic Abuse and VAWG. Able to apply this knowledge at a practical level.

· Experience of identifying and responding to the risks to and needs of survivors of domestic

violence

· Experience of working with vulnerable women at least some of which are women or girls affected by domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.

· A sound working knowledge of the practical, emotional, social and economic issues facing black and minoritised women and girls affected by domestic, and intimate relationship abuse

· Experience of multi-agency partnership working

· Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Immigration, Honour Based Violence, Forced Marriage and FGM.

· Experience in running support groups in the community

· Ability to work with interpreters and volunteers.

· Ability to work with voluntary organisations, local authorities and government agencies on behalf of women.

· Effective communication skills.

· Experience of managing basic administrative systems.

· Training and qualifications in the provision of advice and advocacy on issues such as housing, welfare benefits and domestic violence.
