Hours: Full time, 35 hours a week.
Place of work: To work flexibly across CARA premises in Colchester with regular travel across mid and north Essex, including Braintree, Chelmsford, Clacton, Colchester and Dunmow. The post may also involve some remote working, if a suitable home working environment is available.
Holiday: 25 days per year pro-rata, plus additional closure days between Christmas and New Year.

Job Description
To provide advocacy support to a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs, including support around housing, finances, health, domestic abuse and other issues. CARA’s advocacy service focuses primarily on meeting the needs of some of our most complex clients – victims and survivors who would be unable to access other advocacy services. The role will also involve supporting the wider CARA team in signposting other clients to external advocacy agencies, as appropriate and attendance at CARA groups to provide a drop-in advocacy surgery.
Main Responsibilities
·To manage a caseload of complex clients seeking short and long-term advocacy support, including support around housing, finances, health, domestic abuse and other issues.
·To manage referrals in to CARA’s Advocacy service, ensuring clients meet the referral criteria.
·To provide line-management for CARA’s social care placement worker and potential future advocacy volunteers.
·To assess all new referrals to CARA’s advocacy services, allocating cases to members of the advocacy team, as appropriate.
·To liaise with other agencies, receiving and making referrals and ensuring that they understand CARA’s role and services.
·To gather information about local and national agencies and manage storage and display of this material at CARA. To work with CARA’s Integrated Support and Advocacy Manager to create a directory of services that can be used by all the CARA team.
·To support CARA’s group work, including attendance to provide advocacy support and supporting other activities.
·To attend regular team meetings and to work with colleagues to further the objectives of CARA.
·To maintain and collate evaluation data, testimonials or case studies for distribution.
·To adhere to CARA’s organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding procedures.
·To report to the Integrated Support and Advocacy Manager, Head of Operations, Chief Executive Officer and Trustees as required, including the production of written reports.
·To be administratively self-servicing.
·To undertake any other activities as required by the Integrated Support and Advocacy Manager, Head of Operations, Chief Executive Officer and Trustees.

Support Coordinator
We’re looking for an innovative, passionate, and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service based in Haringey. This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to provide stroke recovery support following a stroke.
Position: S11275 Stroke Support Coordinator
Location: Home-based, Haringey, however, regular travel will be required as part of this role within the service area (may include other travel in London and nationally to include team meetings or other work-related meetings).
Salary: Circa £27,400 per annum (inner London weighting £3,950 per annum or outer London weighting £2,100 per annum may be applied in accordance with where you live)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Services are contracted and there is currently funding for this contract until 31 March 2026.

The Role
Reporting to the London Service Delivery Coach, you will have the ability to support stroke survivors to identify their goals. Using strong assessment skills and a person-centred approach enabling them to maximise their recovery and improve communication.

About the role:
We are looking to recruit an experienced one full-time Caseworker IAA level 2 or above to join our Casework Team and directly support our clients by advising and addressing issues including immigration, asylum and holistic matters. The successful candidate will also take the lead on our newly implemented fee charging service.
We are looking for an experienced and methodical caseworker who is able to prioritise cases competently and confidently follow the processes already in place. You will be working at our Reading or Newbury office and be available to do outreach work as and when required.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- To provide competent IAA level 1 and level 2 Asylum and Immigration advice, specifically to, undocumented persons, asylum seekers and refugees in Berkshire area.

- Casework under the fee charging service would include running immigration applications including extensions/renewal of leave to remain.

About the role:
This role is based in our offices located in Shipley and Wakefield.
As a part-time Helpline Advisor (Triage ISVA) you will provide initial advice and information to clients accessing our service. You will ensure the referral meets our criteria and where this is not the case you have the ability to build strong links with referral pathways across the region. You will be required to provide continuity, advocacy and impartial advice and information about all options, such as reporting to the police, accessing Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) services, and specialist support such as pre-trial therapy and sexual violence counselling.
You will undertake risk assessments and support needs analysis with clients and address initial needs and risk.
To provide non-therapeutic emotional and practical support to victims/survivors. This will be delivered via telephone, text and/or email based on the preferences and need of the client. To build links with services across West Yorkshire to ensure wrap around support is available.
Provide information and advocacy to enable clients to navigate and understand the criminal justice process and ensure their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice. Explain criminal, legal and if relevant, civil remedies to clients.

About the role:
This role is based between our Northern Hampshire office in Basingstoke and from home on a hybrid basis. You will be working shifts Monday to Friday between either 8am and 4pm, 10am and 6pm or 12pm and 8pm. You will also be required to work a minimum of 1 Saturday per month 8am to 4pm where you will receive a day off in lieu during the week. Shifts are designated on a rota basis which is given in advance.
As a Helpline Advisor / Triage & Early Intervention Officer, you will be:
- You will be talking to people on the telephone from a variety of different backgrounds, all with different experiences. No two days are the same & you will need to use your communication skills and resilient nature to help those dealing with trauma and the effects of crime, who may have gone through a life-changing experience.
- Previous experience is not required as you will receive robust training prior to working directly with clients. You will also receive ongoing support to ensure that you can provide victims with quick responses to meet their needs and help them cope and recover.
- You will be working within a supportive team that is part of a large independent charity which offers the opportunity to develop skills to enhance your ongoing personal development.

THE ROLE
The Deputy CEO will play a pivotal leadership role, working closely with the CEO to drive the organisation’s strategic vision, operational excellence, programme leadership, and financial sustainability. Key Responsibilities
Deputy CEO Leadership
- Deputise for the CEO as required, leading key meetings, making strategic decisions, and ensuring seamless leadership continuity.
- Support the CEO in monitoring and reporting against The Girls’ Network’s operational performance, ensuring KPIs are being delivered in line with Trustees’ expectations.
- Support on budget planning and cost control, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Build positive Board relationships and act as an ambassador for The Girls’ Network.
- Ensure a crisis communications strategy is in place and manage risk monitoring and mitigation.
- Lead, support, and motivate staff, fostering a culture of high performance.

Strategic Leadership & Organisational Growth
- Develop and deliver strategy and operational plans in collaboration with the CEO.

Programme Leadership & Delivery
- Provide strategic leadership for programmes, ensuring stability and growth in existing regions and identifying opportunities for expansion.
- Lead on innovation, piloting new programme elements, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency, impact, and revenue generation.
- Ensure programme decisions are informed by data, research, and organisational learning.
- Oversee quality assurance and impact measurement, ensuring consistency across regions and effective reporting on mentee outcomes.
- Oversee programme pipeline, targets, and income generation from schools, reporting to the Board.
- Maximise relationships with key stakeholder groups (mentees, schools, partners, ambassadors, and mentors) to enhance engagement, experience, and retention.
- Lead, support, and motivate the Programme Delivery Directorate, aligning OKRs with organisational goals.
Programme Delivery & Reporting
- Stay informed about best practices in mentoring, gender equality, and social mobility to ensure maximum programme impact.
- Use data and feedback to continuously develop and refine programmes.
- Ensure robust processes and procedures are in place to optimise resources and impact.
- Oversee the mentor network, ensuring engagement, retention, and a high-quality experience for both mentors and mentees.
- Support the Ambassador Programme Lead in integrating the Ambassador Programme with the mentoring programme.
- Report quarterly to the CEO on programme KPIs, including participant numbers, impact metrics, stakeholder perceptions, and regional variations.
- Prepare quarterly reports for the CEO and Trustees.
Management & Training
- Manage the Senior Programme Team, overseeing performance, development, and wellbeing.
- Support programme teams to deliver growth and impact targets with consistency.
- Ensure the Ambassador Programme is successfully implemented and contributes to an engaged network of former mentees.
Safeguarding Leadership
- Serve as Joint Safeguarding Lead, with accountability for safeguarding decisions.
- Oversee Designated Safeguarding Officers and ensure all policies and procedures reflect best practice.
- Review and approve key training materials, particularly those shared externally.
- Maintain oversight of safeguarding systems, including managing the safeguarding phone and any related rota.

As Training Officer, you will:
Be responsible for planning and delivering training and awareness-raising activities in relation to victims of crime in the Thames Valley.
You will deliver these to a range of audiences including Thames Valley Police, Criminal Justice agencies, educational facilities, community groups, and other statutory agencies and third sector organisations. Each training session will be tailored to your audience and some examples of training topics you will be focusing on are:
- Victim awareness (barriers to support, information on the Victims Code, promoting empathy and sensitivity etc.).
- Sexual Violence awareness
- Modern Slavery and Exploitation
The training will be delivered under the Thames Valley Victims First brand and you will spread awareness of how support can be accessed and what is available through your sessions.
You will lead on developing this new content for training in collaboration with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley. You will be consulting with stakeholders on their training needs and mapping emerging areas where further input is required. As part of the role, you will be responsible for developing the range of training programmes and keeping training materials up to date. You will maximise the use of social media accounts for training and will attend events and presentations to engage the local community and increase their knowledge on support for victims of crime. You will also work alongside both the RJ facilitator and volunteers in this area.
You will need to be able to work flexibly to accommodate the training requirements as well as experience of delivering presentations and structured training programmes and talks to a range of audiences. You will need to be IT literate and be effective with your communication.
This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. Travel will be required regularly across the Thames Valley in order to facilitate training development and delivery. About the role:
This role is based at Preston. Once your probation period is completed you will be eligible to apply for hybrid working. All travel costs to and from appointments from your office base will be reimbursed.
As a Domestic Abuse Caseworker, you will be:
Focusing on victims of domestic abuse and will provide a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service, through individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support
This will include supporting victims either face to face or over the telephone to assist them in accessing services to keep them and their family safe. It will involve developing individual safety plans to meet client's needs as identified in the needs and risk assessment.
You will provide advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including
exploration of legal and civil options, housing, health and finance and support clients through the criminal justice system.
You will participate fully in multi-agency meetings by being the voice of the client and follow up actions agreed in meetings keeping the client's safety at the forefront of proceedings.
You will need to:
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Understand Safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
- Have theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
- Experience of managing a complex caseload, to prioritise work and deal with competing demands demonstrating an organised and methodical approach to work
- Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals
- Demonstrate the ability to use IT applications competently including, Microsoft Word, Excel etc. and Case Management systems in order to keep accurate records and monitoring your performance.
- This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.

About the role:
This role is based at our National Contact Centre in Cardiff. There will be an initial induction period that will run Monday to Friday 9am-5pm for a 4 week period. After successfully completing your induction, you will move to your fixed rota hours.
As a Helpline Adviser you will:
- Able to respond to victims of and those affected by crime by providing emotional support, information and referrals on to Victim Support services and other agencies
- Providing immediate support, advice and trauma first aid referrals to victims of and those affected by major incidents and terrorism.
- Seamlessly working across multiple services with different processes, procedures and recording mechanisms.
- Managing and responding appropriately to competing priorities, services and needs.
- Responsible for taking disclosures and responding appropriately by either escalating the safeguarding concern to the 'Designated Safeguarding Officer' or to respond immediately to life threatening situations.
You will need:
- Experience of working in challenging and changing environments with the emphasis on excellence in service delivery.
- Experience of organising and prioritising a complex workload.
- The ability to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrate empathy and control own emotions.
- The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, including telephone skills
- Knowledge and understanding of:
- Relevant agencies and resources
- Importance of confidentiality and safe working practice
- Diversity issues and principles
- The impact of crime
