Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Location: Based in our London office, E1, with regular travel (at least four times per month) across London and the UK to meet with donors and senior stakeholders. Flexible homeworking options available in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy.

Hours: 35 hours per week, we are open to a range working arrangements i.e. part-time, minimum of 28 hours per week or compressed hours.

About the role

Are you an exceptional relationship-builder with a passion for driving social change? Crisis is seeking a dynamic and strategic Principal Gifts Lead to secure transformational philanthropic support from individuals and funders capable of giving £1 million and above. You will be confident navigating complex organisations, able to build internal consensus, and experienced in managing engagement through senior volunteers or development boards. Working location: mostly remote work with some travel required. Who we're looking for 

Full training will be provided under the guidance of our dedicated Training Officer. Our induction program has been developed to equip caseworkers with the skills they need to provide high quality support to road victims and covers topics such as being trauma-informed, safeguarding and risk management. The Social Care IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process, specialising in working with women whose families are involved with Family Children Services and risk to children is a factor. You will work to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. This role is part advocacy, part training/education and project work to improve response to victim/survivors experiencing domestic abuse. You will be embedded in the local authority Family Children Services team, working with Social Care professionals to ensure they adopt a trauma informed approach, can recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse and are providing more holistic support. You will be the domestic abuse subject matter expert on site, upskilling fellow professionals and acting as a point of contact for any clients experiencing domestic abuse and support requirements from Family Children Services.

The borough has a focus on prioritising and developing good DA work in social care and this is an opportunity to be a major player in institutional change, ensuring that women accessing Family Children services for their children have an improved experience and that the local authorities are leading the way for all survivors engaging with their services.

We work within a coordinated partnership response to domestic violence to provide independent domestic violence advocacy and support for women, children and young people and women’s community services for women who are involved in the criminal justice system, in anti-social behaviour or are at risk of breaking the law.

About You:

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge on children safeguarding/legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

To be successful as the Social Care IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

You will establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with housing services and partner agencies. Provide high-quality crisis intervention, information, advocacy, and proactive support to women referred to the service, in respect to risk management and safety planning, criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, welfare rights, and children’s legislation.

Your abilities extends to assessing the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support and identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. Advising women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies and proactively advocate to ensure barriers to accessing support and protection are reduced. You will work as an advocate and educator to raise awareness and upskill professionals within Children Social Care plus work with colleagues to successfully develop and deliver training.

We’re looking for three Parent Programme Officers to help deliver the Stregthening Families, Stregthening Communities parenting programme with integrity and care as part of a new project funded by the Youth Endowment Fund.

You’ll build trusted relationships with families, co-facilitators, peer researchers, colleagues and referral partners, ensuring the programme is safe, effective and engaging. You’ll support research and evaluation, maintain robust systems and make sure our work is informed by evidence and grounded in lived experience. 

We’re keen to work with experienced practitioners in the Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC)  model, or people that are familiar with it and have extensive expertise with other group parenting programmes. 

You will be an organised and confident communicator who values openness and collaboration. You’ll bring experience in partnership working, programme delivery and safeguarding, with the ability to build rapport and manage sensitive situations with professionalism.

• Support the development and delivery of national PR campaigns that promote organisational objectives.

ABOUT SUZY LAMPLUGH TRUST 

This post represents an opportunity for the right candidate to join the UK’s founding personal safety charity and leading authority on stalking. 

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was born out of the tragic story of Suzy Lamplugh, a 25-year-old estate agent who went missing whilst at work in 1986, was never found, and was eventually declared deceased in 1993. The Trust was set up in Suzy’s name and continues to be a pioneer in reducing the risk and prevalence of abuse, aggression and violence - with a specific focus on stalking and harassment – through education, campaigning and support.

We are an organisation that has: 

• been responsible for training over one million lone and frontline workers across all sectors in personal safety; 

• campaigned heavily and played a pivotal role in driving changes in the law to better protect people across the UK; and 

• supported over 75,000 victims and survivors of stalking since the inception of our National Stalking Helpline and stalking advocacy service. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Support the delivery and evaluation of national campaigns on workplace safety as well as stalking, harassment and other priority areas.

• Maintain effective relationships with civil servants, policy makers, national and local decision makers, and other campaigning bodies and build relevant networks of stakeholders.

• Proactively keep abreast of issues within the post-holder’s own portfolio, general criminal justice, personal safety and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) policy developments and up to date campaigning techniques.

• To undertake or commission research on specific policy areas as required.

• Develop policy recommendations, write policy and campaigns reports, lobby government and other decision makers and stakeholders, and respond on behalf of Suzy Lamplugh Trust to government enquiries, consultations or other relevant initiatives. 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Policy and Campaigns Officer is responsible for supporting on Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s policy and campaigning work relating to reducing harassment, violence and aggression in society by addressing these issues at their root cause, working with employers to improve personal safety culture within organisations and seeking to influence policy and legislative change where necessary. This role will also support campaigns that ensure that victims of stalking receive better support and protection.
