Job description
We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Recovery Worker to play a pivotal role in our Complex Needs Service in East Acton.
Sounds great, what will I be doing?
The role empowers service users to manage their wellbeing, build independence, and achieve personal goals through tailored support and co-produced plans. It involves liaising with external agencies, facilitating group and community-based activities, and promoting social inclusion.
The position ensures users understand and engage with the service, while actively monitoring safety and wellbeing. Team collaboration and flexibility are essential to meeting service goals and maintaining high standards of care.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.
Here's what the team will be looking for:
You bring strong experience supporting individuals with mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues, gained through paid and/or voluntary roles. You have developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people with a range of mental health conditions and know how to communicate with empathy, dignity, and respect, fostering trust and engagement.
Your knowledge of relevant mental health legislation, including the Care Programme Approach (CPA), enables you to navigate complex systems and advocate effectively for those you support. You work in alignment with the principles of recovery, applying a range of recovery-focused approaches that empower individuals to take control of their own wellbeing and progress.
You are equally confident working collaboratively as part of a team or independently, showing initiative and leadership, particularly in the induction and support of volunteers. With good IT skills and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and the internet, you maintain clear and accurate records and communication. Your strong literacy and numeracy skills support effective reporting and documentation.
You demonstrate the ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour with calmness, professionalism, and a non-judgemental, anti-discriminatory approach. Flexible and reliable, you are willing to work unsociable hours, including early and late shifts and occasional weekends, to meet service needs.
You have a solid understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to respond appropriately to concerns, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all
individuals. With a solution-focused mindset, you approach challenges constructively, working collaboratively toward problem-solving. Above all, you maintain an optimistic outlook, believing in the capacity for change and the potential for growth in every individual you support.
When will I be working?
You will be working Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:30 and Friday 09:00 to 16:30
