We require a Social Worker to provide high quality social work in our schools across the Diocese of Salford according to each school’s formal agreement.

You will work directly with children and young people, their parents, carers and schools in order to further the child’s welfare and provide the interventions necessary to enable them to use their learning opportunities to the full. You must be able to provide a non-judgemental, caring and confidential environment throughout this work to ensure the issues are addressed in an appropriate manner for all those involved.

To apply you will have experience of working with children and families and experience of direct work with children which includes supporting school staff with safeguarding. You must have competent IT skills which includes providing regular reports to the individual schools and Caritas and feedback to school staff as required. You must be able to maintain appropriate resources, databases and case files as well as maintain efficient and comprehensive referral and recording systems.

Registered social worker status with Social Work England (SWE) is essential and the salary includes accrued annual leave.

Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project. 

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

Support will be flexibly based operating out of a central Bromley office but delivered at various venues across the borough. We are currently seeking dynamic Practitioners to join our Children & Young People’s service (CYPS), working directly with young people affected by domestic abuse.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator programmes working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 29 years.

This role requires a good understanding of adolescent development, domestic abuse, child abuse and trauma, and the impacts of these on young people’s development, as well as a good understanding of the nature of domestic violence and its effects on women and children, and on the parent-child relationship. You will have experience of direct work with young people and their parents/carers, working flexibly but robustly and supportively, responding to challenging or harmful behaviour to facilitate change. You will have experience of providing structured one-to-one and/or group work counselling or behavioural change interventions, and of working with both children and adults from diverse backgrounds. You will have an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and be confident working both independently and as part of a team, working closely and collaboratively alongside partner agencies such as Children’s Services, Schools and Youth Offending Services.

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in developing DVIP’s young people’s services, working in partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective community responses to domestic violence, in line with RESPECT practice standards. Day to day, you will be working flexibly across a number of locations, including providing outreach in schools and other relevant or referring services, managing referrals, assessing risk and suitability for therapeutic intervention, and engaging families.

In this rewarding role you will be working directly with young people and their parents/carers, delivering structured interventions to increase safety, as well as providing specialist support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training.

You will be able to work independently and flexibly, including some early evenings if needed, within any London Borough, where DVIP is contracted, for part of the working week. You will be comfortable managing your own workload and related admin, and you will be able to communicate clearly with a range of people about sensitive and complex issues, including the writing of professional reports.

Job Title: Senior Supervising Social Worker

Salary: £35,893 per annum (increasing to £39,880 in 18 months)  + £1,500 per annum Out of Hours Rota Allowance + £750 per annum Homeworking Allowance

Whilst being homebased, the Senior Supervising Social Worker will visit and support foster families across the TACT South West area including Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, Gloucester, Somerset and Wiltshire areas but will also travel within the wider region for team meetings, training and other in person events. 

Overall Duties of the Senior Supervising Social Worker will include:

• An appropriate social work qualification
• Up-to-date registration with Social Work England
• Experience in fostering/family placements or other childcare settings
• Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation including the Fostering National Minimum Standards and Fostering regulations.
• Experience of working with/supporting looked after children and their foster carers.
• Knowledge of matching criteria and stability of placments.
• Capable of using electronic records systems and IT effectively, including participating in virtual meetings and webinars.

Whilst being homebased, the Assessing Social Worker will be required to travel for visits, across the East and West Midlands areas. There is also a requirement to be able to travel to Team meetings, wellbeing days, TACT away days and other in person events across the UK as and when required. 

Core Assessing Social Worker Tasks include: 

• Preparing applicants for the fostering role
• Promoting and supporting the development of trauma informed foster care / therapeutic parenting
• Assessment of prospective foster families
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of fostering assessments and applicant preparation

The main role requirements for this role include:

• BA or Master’s in Social Work or Dip SW, CSS or CQSW qualification
• Social Work England Registration
• Post qualifying experience including relevant family placement work or post qualifying experience in other child-care settings which must include statutory childcare work
• Experience of assessing foster families and preparing them for the fostering tasks
• A proven track record in working with and on behalf of children and foster families, using a trauma-informed therapeutic approach
• A passion for ensuring children receive the highest quality care from their foster family
• Knowledge of relevant child-care and fostering regulations, legislation, and best practice
• Good IT skills including Office 365

About the role

£18,975 for 22 hours, FTE salary is £31,051

In this varied and rewarding role you will develop and coordinate our team of volunteers and Sessional Workers (zero hours youth workers).  You will be instrumental in defining our volunteer strategy moving forward and identify other participation opportunities such as work experience placements, university placements, internships and apprenticeships.

You will also help develop internal engagement activities and participate in external awareness raising and fundraising activities, to support both volunteering and fundraising.

This role is for 22 hours per week, which will ideally be worked over 4 days.   There is the option of hybrid working.   We provide a surrey wide service, so the successful applicant will be willing to travel across the county to meet volunteers and sessionals as  well as participate in engagement opportunities.

Key responsibilities

Full duties are included in the job outline, key responsibilities include:

• To coordinate the recruitment and induction process for volunteers and sessional workers.
• To coordinate, develop and deliver appropriate induction, training and supervision activities.
• To act as a central point of contact for volunteers and sessional workers
• To embed good practice in every aspect of the volunteer & sessional worker journey.
• To develop and manage partnerships with external stakeholders including Universities/volunteering hubs, local businesses and community groups to encourage a range of opportunities.
• To organise and attend community events and organise recruitment workshops and talks, across the county.
• To support the HR Manager by organising engagement activities and forums for our own staff, sessionals, volunteers and other stakeholders.
• To undertake ad hoc work for our fundraising function, to support our community fundraising efforts.
• To coordinate sessional work opportunities.

About you

You must:

• Have proven experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
• Have experience delivering information or training
• Have experience with having difficult conversations with volunteers or workers
• Have experience of working across different teams, networking and developing links with other agencies
• Be an effective communicator, with strong written communication skills
• Be able to multi-task, plan a workload, set priorities and manage time effectively, working without direct supervision
• Have a good professional knowledge of standard Microsoft packages and databases
• Ideally, have a driving license and use of own vehicle. Mileage expenses are paid.

As a Family Support Co-ordinator you will join our team of compassionate, experienced Family Support Co-ordinators, working to build strong relationships with local families facing complex challenges; 

• You will work one-to-one with families to identify their needs, match them to a trained volunteer and regularly review their progress. 

• You will provide on-going support and supervision to skilled, diverse volunteers, and work hard to build and maintain links with referring partners throughout our communities, ensuring holistic support for families. 

• As needs are identified, you will work together with our team of Family Support Co-ordinators to develop and facilitate supportive groups and activities for families. 

Essential requirements:

• Experience of supporting children and families; knowledge and understanding of their needs

• Good interpersonal skills and a positive team player

• Knowledge of safeguarding and the ability to supervise befriending volunteers

• A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice
