Volunteer for the friendliest club in London!

About the opportunity

Can you spare 2 hours a week on a Thursday evening to work with some of the most friendly, welcoming people you’ll ever meet? If so, then please come and help our volunteers to organise fun activities at our ever-growing club for people with learning disabilities. No previous experience is needed, you just need a caring attitude and sense of fun.

Our club is split into two age groups 14-25 yrs (Juniors Club) and 25 yrs+ (Vets Club). You have a chance to make a real difference to either group by creating new experiences, helping our members to grow in confidence, build friendships and learn new skills. Our specialist club leaders will support and train you and you’ll benefit from working in a very rewarding environment!

What are we looking for?

• You do not need previous experience, just an open mind and a positive attitude towards disability.
• You need to be willing to have fun and commit to The Vets Club or Juniors Club, on at least a fortnightly basis.
• You will need enthusiasm and good communication
• Available regularly (but not necessarily every week) on Thursdays between 7pm and 9pm.

What does a typical Thursday night session look like?

It can be anything from cooking, visiting a local open mike night, museums, arts and crafts, the most competitive game of Uno you'll ever have, table tennis, basketball, musice, dance, we tried sound-bathing recently, basically anything and everything that we design with our members.

Please note: Applicants must be UK-based and able to travel easily to Wimbledon area. Living in London or near SW London. Travel expenses are not covered to and from Squad but reasonable expenses can be covered (when agreed in advance) for travel or other necessities as part of Squad sessions.

Women Empowerment, Education, and Arts & Culture

In rural Uganda, limited access to quality education, economic opportunities for women, and creative expression prevents communities from reaching their full potential. Many families live below the poverty line, and young people often drop out of school due to financial hardship. Women, especially single mothers, lack stable income and professional skills. Artistic and cultural resources are underrepresented, and youth have few outlets to develop their talents and voices.

Toonda addresses these challenges through a community-led approach that combines education, women’s empowerment, and arts & culture, creating a safe and inclusive environment where people gain skills, confidence, and income.

Our solution is to empower people at the grassroots level through a vibrant community hub that offers:

Educational support (school sponsorships, tutoring, digital literacy, reading programs)

Women-led income generation (weaving, tailoring, catering groups – now producing for TK Maxx)

Creative spaces for expression and exchange (annual cultural gala, artist residencies, workshops)

Local tourism initiatives (Airbnb, drumming & weaving workshops) that generate income for sustainability

Online Campaigns – Fundraising & Awareness

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Support TOONDA in planning and running engaging online campaigns to raise awareness and generate donations. You'll help us design and implement strategies across platforms like Betterplace, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and coordinate online fundraising or awareness campaigns

Create or adapt content for different platforms (text, visuals, calls to action)

Schedule and manage campaign timelines

Support with basic social media ads or boost strategies (Meta Ads, Google Ads Grants)

Monitor engagement and suggest improvements

You’re a good fit if you: Have experience with social media campaigns or digital fundraising

Title: Economics Advisor – Missing People 

Summary 

Missing People is recruiting volunteers with expertise in economics to support the early planning of a project exploring the economic impact of missing episodes and the harms experienced by individuals while missing. This work will inform the development of a robust, evidence-based estimate of the cost of a missing episode and the socio-economic return on investment (ROI) of prevention efforts. 

As an Advisory Volunteer, you will provide expert guidance to help shape the scope and direction of this project. Your insights will help the charity identify key considerations, methodologies, and data needs - an area where we have limited in-house expertise. 

Description

Someone is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK. Missing People is the only UK charity dedicated to reconnecting missing people and their loved ones. Our services include: 

• A free and confidential helpline, available 7 days a week, for missing people and their loved ones, 

• A specialist family support and counselling service, 

• Case publicity to support loved ones with sharing appeals,

• Specialist services for children and young people, and their loved ones, experiencing exploitation,

• Commissioned intensive support services for young people at particular risk, 

• Research, consultancy and training for professionals working around the issue of missing.

Our vision is that every missing person is found safe.

By supporting us to develop a compelling economic case for prevention, you’ll play a vital role in shaping how missing incidents are understood and addressed across the UK. We will use the information to influence nationally: sharing the figures with key decision-makers in government, policing, health and social care. This work will strengthen our case for funding essential services that prevent repeat missing episodes and support the development of more effective early intervention strategies.

We’ve already begun exploring this work but need additional external expertise to guide our planning and approach. As such we are recruiting new volunteer Economics Advisors. Advisors will be asked to:

• Attend and participate in monthly project planning meeting (1-2 hours via video call, scheduled flexibly on weekdays or evenings) for a period of 6 months.

• Review relevant documents and provide ad hoc advice between meetings (no more than 1-2 hours)

• Get further involved in the project with a weekly commitment, if desired – this is entirely optional.

What impact will you have? 

Your input will support Missing People to build a stronger case for prevention and change for missing people and their loved ones.

About the volunteer 

We are looking for volunteers with: 

• A strong understanding of data and working with complex statistics 

• Experience in economic analysis of social issues and public policy, cost-benefit analysis, or social return on investment (SROI) 

• Willingness to support and advise Missing People’s Head of Policy and Head of Research in understanding an area outside of our usual expertise

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford.

You and Me Counselling are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Job Description

As a trustee you will need to:

• Acknowledge emails at least once a day.

As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy UK. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects excellence, clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print.

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values.

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals.

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides).

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space.

• Project Management: Maintain organized design files and deliver work in a timely manner.

What we’re looking for

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines.

• Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma.

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.

• Ability to take direction while contributing creative input.

• A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design.

• Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).

• Excellent communication and time-management skills.

Due to the four-year term ending for a number of our trustees, Active Humber are looking to recruit to the following Board vacancies:

• Chair of the Board
• Senior Independent Director
• Welfare and Safety Director
• Non-Executive Trustee

These are crucial roles for our Board, and we are looking for people who share our passion and energy to work with us to create a happier, healthier and stronger community across the Humber.  To achieve our goals, we need a board of trustees who are as diverse as the people we are trying to reach.

Active Humber is a registered charity and is one of 42 nationwide Active Partnerships who are funded by Sport England to improve lives through physical activity and sport. 

Our vision is that the Humber is a place where everyone, everyday is physically active.

Our mission is to get the most physically inactive to be active.

Our role is to help people think differently about physical inactivity.

What is it like to be a Board Member at Active Humber? 
The Board at Active Humber is integral to what we are trying to achieve in the Humber.  If you join us as a trustee you will help to lead Active Humber to achieve their mission and purpose - you might ask questions to challenge us to think differently, make suggestions to move things forward, or act as a sounding board for ideas.

What we’re looking for:

We’re seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about our vision and have the time and skills to contribute to the board. We are particularly looking for expertise in one or more of the following areas;

• Experience of chairing a Board
• Knowledge of Safeguarding and Welfare, in relation to Children and Young People and/or Adults at Risk
• Experience of governance matters, or legal issues
• Experience within environmental sustainability matters
• An understanding of equality and inclusivity
