Position: Chief Operating Officer

Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time), due to the nature of our work regular evening and weekend work will be required with this role.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding what works and working for change – scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference.
Our Change team does this by building excellent relationships and sharing evidence of what works with organisations and key individuals across the public, private, third sectors and local communities. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, proactive and highly organised Change and Events Officer to join our Change team to help us fulfil our mission.
Key responsibilities
Most fundamentally, your job is to work as a member of our Change team to make sure we’re excellent at running events and managing relationships with key stakeholders. You’ll make sure the team is incredibly organised and has the support it needs to work effectively. Key responsibilities:

Event Organising. Help to organise events, from small roundtables to large in person conferences. You will help make sure events run brilliantly, from booking venues to managing invites and organising materials.

External Relationship Management Support. Provide support to the team in managing external relationships by scheduling meetings, organising workshops and developing materials.

Meeting Effectiveness. Make sure certain meetings are effective. You’ll do this by organising the meetings, taking great minutes, making sure we keep track of things we said we would do and saving the documents in the right place.

Project Support. Help ensure projects within the Change teams are done brilliantly. This may involve administrative tasks, tracking deadlines or leading projects as needed.

Query Management. Monitor and respond to general queries by managing the team inbox.

Salesforce Reporting and Stakeholder Communication. Lead on coordinating Salesforce reporting and effective communication outreach for key stakeholder groups.

Stakeholder Engagement and Change Activities. Develop and support stakeholder engagement and Change activities, including monitoring and compiling feedback from surveys.

Team Scorecard Coordination. Lead on co-ordinating the team scorecard, ensuring that the team is on track with targets.

Collaboration. Work closely with other roles (including our Operations and Culture team) within YEF to ensure coordinated efforts and sharing of best practices.

Hybrid working details

About the Role
Chance UK has been delivering early-intervention services across London since 1995. Our longest running programme is our mentoring service where Mentors pick the child up from home and run a 1:1 session in the community, once a week for 2 hours. They use the solution-focused approach to work on building the child’s self-esteem and confidence, set goals and explore new places.
In addition, we are growing a range of community based groups running after school as well as some workshops delivered in schools which will support children with developing social and emotional skills and resilience through activities or skills development.
The balance between 1:1 work and group delivery will change according to services commissioned so the post holder will need to be flexible accordingly.

Person Specification
We are looking for an arts professional (artist, curator, educator) with strong interest in creative socially-engaged practice and with a minimum of three years’ experience devising and delivering early year’s projects, working with young people from all backgrounds. This role requires a highly proactive team worker who demonstrates the importance of effective, consistent communication in a dynamic organisation delivering a range of engagement activities. The Young People Programme Manager will work with the Creative Learning team at Factory International to develop, deliver and manage programmes of work with young people between the ages of 14 and 30. This role will be responsible for the delivery of key strategic partnerships with commercial brands, as well as developing new streams of work with a focus on sharing power through curatorial programme decision making, programming and youth governance.
Creative Learning develop and deliver learning programs with young people and children from Cradle to Creative (the age of 0 through to 30) with a focus on underrepresented children, young people and artists. All of our programmes have a social and emotional learning outcome and focus on improving mental health, wellbeing and resilience. Service Overview: Barnardo's, the UK's largest Children's Charity are currently on an exciting and innovative Journey alongside Leicestershire County Council to deliver a range of Children's homes for the most vulnerable children & young people in Leicestershire.
Welland House has 3 self-contained flats with the capacity to house up to 3 families at any one time. Families utilising this type of service may include parents with moderate to high learning needs, those presenting with issues around domestic violence, and or substance/alcohol misuse. Additionally, they may have experienced mental ill health and/or trauma. During their stay, the parents will be supported in their parenting by Barnardo's staff, whilst being assessed by Leicestershire County Council Children's Service.
The Welland House team is supportive in its approach, with our primary aim revolving around promoting best practices, through guidance, role modelling, key work sessions and practical advice on matters relating to concerns, risk, safety, routines, and boundaries.
Some of the responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Managing a team of residential workers and coordinate staffing rotas.
- Work together with the Local Authority to ensure effective placement of families.
- To create a culture and ethos where the complex needs of the individual parents and children and the group are met.
- Quality assure transition/care plans and to ensure that these are aspirational in terms of supporting individuals and families.

We are seeking a thoughtful, compassionate, and experienced finance and operations manager. Working Hours
· The Junction Youth Centre is open 7 days per week. This role is 37 hours per 7 day week, to be worked in the following format;
Three days per week 1-9pm based at The Junction Youth Centre (weekdays or weekends)
Two days per week 9-5pm based in the community and schools (between Monday- Friday)
Position in the Organisation
· Reports To: Centre Manager
· Working With: The Action4Youth team and external agencies
The Youth Mentor will deliver one to one mentoring to a caseload of young people aged 11 to 18 years (up to 25 with SEND) who are identified as at risk. They will also deliver group sessions and general youth work at The Junction Youth Centre twice a week. The Junction Youth Centre is open 7 days a week 4-9pm; the mentor will support group sessions twice a week and spend the rest of their time delivering 1:1 interventions.
The mentor will work in partnership with the Action4Youth core team based at The Junction, as well as schools and other organisations such as social services, the Youth Offending Service and Buckinghamshire Council to identity and refer young people.
The mentor will work with a mixture of young people from different backgrounds, some of whom may have disabilities or additional needs. This intervention will work with young people who are experiencing low self-esteem and confidence, anxiety, low level mental ill health and challenging behaviour.
In order to build a rapport with the young person interactions will be face to face and the mentor will meet them for approximately 1 to 2 hours per week for a 6 to 12 week period.
The mentoring programme is free of charge for all young people.
Activities structure and the role:
· To be a positive role model at all times
- To liaise with schools and other key organisations to promote the mentoring service and receive referrals.
- Work with the staff team at The Junction to deliver group work sessions and assist with general youth work on two days per week
- Build a rapport with young people and manage a caseload.
- Conduct weekly mentoring sessions with young people and to provide advice, guidance and information to young people to allow them to make informed decisions
- Work with young people to direct, and then support them, into more positive activities in their local community
- Create action plans with young people to identify their next steps
- Keep records of interactions and use the Outcomes Star framework to track progress of young people
- Maintain a quality service at all times
- Provide reports and case studies for funders as required
- Ensure Health and Safety and Safeguarding procedures have been followed and incidents reported.

The Targeted Service Manager will play a pivotal role in leading a dedicated team to support young people facing unique challenges. You will be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. You will have experience of delivering group activities, communicating effectively and sensitively with children, young people and adults, and experience of building, managing and sustaining relationships. You will have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing volunteers or mentors to support the personal and social development of children and young people, but this is not essential.
The role is full time. You will need to be committed to working flexible hours which may involve some evening and weekend work. About the role:
