Job description

Ambitious about Autism's Service Development team is currently looking for a Programme Director who will act as project lead for the development and delivery of a new free school in London alongside the Development and extension of our existing education services.

Ambitious about Autism has achieved and developed so much since it was founded in 1997. Our services continue to grow and develop. Our (Ofsted outstanding) TreeHouse School continues to innovate to meet the needs of autistic young people. The Rise School, developed as part of our multi-academy trust, opened in 2014 co-located within a mainstream school and is thriving in its purpose-built building. Ambitious College is an autism specific registered day college serving young people with complex autism aged 16 to 25 years. It now has two permanent campuses co- located and developed in partnership with mainstream further education colleges.

Both services are rated Good by Ofsted. Through these services we educate and support over 300 autistic children and young people and we work with thousands more through our work on employability, participation and our national policy and practice influencing work.

We are all passionate and driven by our mission to support autistic children and young people and to improve their life chances. Our new strategy sets out our plans to have an even greater reach and impact. As part of this, we aim to further develop our existing and new education services, including opening a new free school in the London Borough of Kingston, and looking for opportunities to open further new services.

We are also planning to significantly develop our existing schools and college, with potential options including significant growth in pupil and learner numbers and potentially new locations and major capital investment.

We are looking for a person who has experience of service development, ideally in the context of SEN education.  You will have strong relationship building, project management, and analytical skills. Above all, you will share an absolute commitment to our mission and values.

You will work closely with the Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Education in research and develop of new education services for autistic children and young people including:

  • Development and extension of our existing education services, including Centres of Excellence and establishing a cross organisational employability forum
  • New free schools;
  • Transfers, partnerships or mergers of schools and colleges.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help develop and support the work we do within our services. In return, you will have access to continued professional development (CPD), excellent benefits including support for wellbeing, generous holiday allowance and a friendly and supportive team. Please see our recruitment pack on the link below.

If you have any questions about the role or would like to have a confidential call, please contact Stephen Vickers.
