The Friendly Trust is a Wales-based registered charity providing specialist information, advice, and financial administration for disabled people and other vulnerable adults, and for families planning for the future of someone who may lack capacity. Our work is centred on the individual. We aim to protect people's rights, promote independence and ensure that financial arrangements support people to live the lives they choose.
Purpose of the Role
Trust Officers play a key role in delivering The Friendly Trust's services.
The postholder will manage an allocated caseload, providing practical support, advice and financial administration to Service Users and their families.
The role combines person-centred casework with welfare benefits, financial management, advocacy and multi-agency working. Trust Officers develop professional relationships with Service Users and use their knowledge, judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure that people's financial affairs are managed appropriately while promoting choice, independence and individual rights.
Where a person may lack capacity to make a particular financial decision, the Trust Officer will ensure that their work reflects the principles and requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and any other relevant legal authority under which The Friendly Trust is acting.

- Assist with benefit claims, reviews and related correspondence.
- Liaise with the Department for Work and Pensions, local authorities and other relevant organisations.
- Identify apparent errors, underpayments or adverse benefit decisions and take appropriate action to resolve or challenge them.
- Maintain and develop an appropriate working knowledge of the welfare benefits system relevant to the Trust's Service Users.
Financial Administration and Appointeeship
- Manage Service Users' day-to-day financial affairs where The Friendly Trust has been authorised to do so.
- Act on behalf of The Friendly Trust in carrying out its responsibilities as a DWP Corporate Appointee where applicable.

- Arrange payments and other financial transactions in accordance with organisational procedures and the authority under which The Friendly Trust is acting.
- Identify and respond appropriately to changes in a Service User's financial circumstances.
- Take reasonable steps to protect Service Users from financial abuse, exploitation and avoidable financial loss.
- Ensure that financial decisions are properly authorised, recorded and capable of being accounted for.
Mental Capacity and Decision-Making
- Apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in relevant aspects of their work.
- Recognise that capacity is decision-specific and should not be assumed solely because of a person's disability, diagnosis or circumstances.
- Support Service Users to make their own decisions wherever they are able to do so.
- Where a person lacks capacity for a particular financial decision, ensure that actions are taken in accordance with the appropriate legal authority and best-interests requirements.
- Maintain clear records of significant decisions and the reasons for them.
- Seek guidance from managers where a decision raises significant legal, financial, safeguarding or ethical concerns.

- Adapt communication to reflect an individual's needs and level of understanding.
- Prepare professional correspondence, including letters, emails, case records and reports.
- Liaise effectively with organisations including the DWP, local authorities, health and social care professionals, housing providers, banks and other financial organisations.

About the Role
Rough sleeping pathways only work when the system around people moves with urgency, consistency and accountability. This role is about making sure people sleeping rough, or at risk of returning to the streets, are not left waiting, drifting between services, or losing accommodation because barriers have not been gripped quickly enough.
As Outreach Housing Pathway Coordinator, you will work within Camden’s integrated Rough Sleeping and Outreach Hub to help people access and sustain appropriate accommodation. You will hold oversight of where people are in their housing journey, identify what is blocking progress, and work with outreach teams, Navigators, hostels, pathway providers, community safety partners and statutory services to keep plans moving.
You will focus on the points where pathways can break down: delays, exclusions, unsuitable offers, unresolved risks, street activity linked to accommodation, or support needs that have not yet been fully understood or responded to. Through assertive engagement, practical case coordination and strong partnership working, you will help people stabilise their accommodation and reduce the risk of returning to rough sleeping.
Working within Camden’s No Wrong Door model, you will bring grip, judgement and persistence to complex situations, ensuring people experiencing multiple disadvantage receive a response that is joined-up, trauma-informed and focused on lasting routes away from the street. SHP will support you with the training, reflective practice and development opportunities needed to continue building your expertise in this work.
About you:
- You understand that people experiencing rough sleeping are often navigating trauma, exclusion, unmet needs and systems that have not worked for them. You bring patience, persistence and a clear belief that people should not be written off when engagement is difficult.
- You know how homelessness pathways, outreach services and supported accommodation can work together, and you can spot where delays, exclusions or gaps in communication are putting someone’s route away from the street at risk.
- You are confident working with complexity. You can hold risk, need and accountability together, making balanced decisions while keeping people’s safety, dignity and long-term accommodation sustainment at the centre.
- You build relationships that help things move. Whether you are speaking with someone on the street, a hostel, a Navigator, a statutory service or a community safety partner, you communicate clearly, follow through on actions and keep people focused on solutions.
- You bring practical judgement, emotional resilience and a trauma-informed approach to your work, with the ability to stay calm and purposeful when situations are challenging, stuck or urgent.
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

We are based within the Royal Courts of Justice, the Central London Family Court and community sites across London, where we deliver local Citizens Advice services.
This post is a new role within RCJ Advice and forms part of the Improving Access to Justice for Domestic Abuse Survivors project. The three-year project aims to improve access to legal advice and support for domestic abuse survivors living in areas where legal aid services are limited.
The project will strengthen referral pathways, increase awareness of legal remedies and build sustainable links between domestic abuse organisations, frontline professionals and legal providers to ensure survivors can access appropriate legal support.
During the first year, the postholder will likely focus on developing the project in Suffolk. This will include mapping existing services, building relationships with domestic abuse organisations and frontline professionals, developing referral pathways and strengthening links with local legal providers.
In years two and three, the postholder will move the focus of the project to new legal aid deserts in England (we have a similar role in Wales) identified during the course of the project, developing new local networks, referral pathways and partnerships to improve access to legal advice and support for domestic abuse survivors in those areas.
Alongside this project development work, the postholder will provide specialist family law advice and support to domestic abuse survivors, including advice on protective remedies such as Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders and other family law matters including Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs). This will include providing advice through appointments, telephone and email advice, and supporting survivors with CourtNav applications.
The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with experience of family law and domestic abuse work. They will have strong legal skills, experience of developing partnerships or services, and the ability to build trusted relationships with survivors, professionals and community organisations.
The postholder will work closely with colleagues across RCJ Advice, including the FLOWS team and Family team, sharing learning and contributing to wider organisational work supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
The role will require flexibility to travel across England, including occasional overnight stays, to support delivery of the service, partnership development and engagement activities.
