We need a new Director of Communications.  You’ll be responsible for helping us communicate the Gospel and the great work we do in our communities, and telling the good news stories that encourage and inspire us as we embark on our strategy to deliver the Diocesan vision to “bless the 1.5 million people” in our diocese who currently have no meaningful connection with our worshipping communities.  We need someone who can catalyse everyone in the diocese to be better communicators.

The successful candidate will have a wide-ranging experience of communication matters with the ability to promote our work in a positive and strategic manner, and manage media relations proactively and effectively.

The post is based at Church House, Daresbury, with some travel around the Diocese and the option for hybrid working with up to 40% working from home. A full driving licence and access to a car is essential.

Salary: £51,515 - £55,692 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience.

As an Employment Coach with our Employcare Project you will be supporting unpaid carers living in Manchester; providing support and coaching in order for them to re-enter paid employment or voluntary roles.  The successful candidates will manage a small caseload of carers and provide them with 1:1 support, helping them overcome barriers to employment and training.  You will be responsible for supporting them through every stage of their journey, enabling participants to address their barriers and realise their aspirations.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter, flexible and have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team and with internal and external partners. You may have a background in adult safeguarding, drug or alcohol recovery services, mental health or housing support and have significant experience of working within a multidiscipline setting with the ability to create strong professional relationships and creative solutions. You will have experience of working with people who have faced severe and multiple exclusion and who may have complex needs; with an understanding of the needs of people who have been homeless for long periods of time. You will be willing and able to provide practical assistance with moving into and maintaining a home – including direct help where necessary with tasks such as shopping, budgeting, cooking, and cleaning. 

You will also have a knowledge of Housing First and Housing Led approaches and the ability to work within a psychologically informed approach.

New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. The Services Manager (Day Centre) is a brand new role for the organisation. They will work as part of the existing Youth Work Team to provide vital additional capacity and expertise to respond to the significantly increased demand we have been experiencing. This role is primarily focused on delivering our frontline day centre service each week. You will spend around 2-3 days per week frontline as our Duty Manager ensuring the smooth running of the day centre. A daily lunch service is at the heart of our day-centre delivery for young people experiencing homelessness. For many of our young people, lunch is their only hot, nutritious meal of the day. We are looking for a passionate Chef to work independently in our kitchen to deliver a daily meal for up to 100 young people, staff and volunteers. You will have responsibility for planning, preparing and serving food that makes a real difference to people's lives. You will need to have experience of catering to large numbers and managing professional kitchen paperwork, and the drive to maintain high food hygiene standards. Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

Advocate

After a strong period of growth and additional funding, we now have an opportunity for an experienced Advocate to join team!

You will focus on carrying regular outreach across Leeds, along with working with local partners, services and third sector projects to find Gypsies and Travellers in the Leeds area. Outreach will cover roadside camps, private yards and people in homes.

This role and project represent the first step in working with Gypsies and Travellers in Leeds.

Position: Advocate

Location: Leeds/hybrid (work will include delivering outreach across Leeds)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £24,829 per annum pro rata

Contract: initial 12-month contract with possibility to extend subject to funding

The Role

You will be working holistically to support the community with a wide range of needs having a focus on members with complex needs and with families who require educational support. You will be helping members to develop the necessary skills to self-advocate through providing information, signposting and support.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Advocacy - to provide members with daily accessible and equitable advocacy appointments. Topics may include welfare rights and entitlement, housing rights and support, health and wellbeing including mental health and equalities and justice
• Project and administration management
• Risk Management, to ensure good management within all the work particularly that all activities are risk assessed, safe and inclusive and follow processes and policies
• Partnerships, including building and maintaining a wide network of partner and services in support of advocacy delivery and community development

About You

We are looking for someone with knowledge of relevant legislation and rights, for example in relation to housing, welfare, family, health and equalities

You will have experience of working with:

• Groups or individuals experiencing exclusion and the barriers they face when accessing services
• Vulnerable people
• Safeguarding frameworks – making decisions and sharing information

This is an established and award-winning civil society organisation with a national profile.  Recognised as being innovative, brave and creative.  The overall aim of the charity is to improve the quality of life for Gypsies and Travellers through addressing inequalities in homes, health, education, and employment, financial and social inclusion.
