Finance Business Partner – Education Sector

Location: Peterborough area (regional travel required)

A leading educational organisation in the Peterborough region is looking to appoint a Finance Business Partner to join their high-performing finance team. This is a varied and strategic role, combining the production of management accounts with genuine business partnering across a broad range of academic and non-academic budget holders. You’ll provide financial insight, analysis, and guidance to support effective decision-making and ensure resources are allocated efficiently and in line with statutory requirements. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in linking finance with curriculum planning and wider organisational strategy. The role does not include line management responsibilities.

 Key Responsibilities: 

• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing strategic financial advice that drives performance.
• Deliver accurate monthly reporting and insightful analysis to support decision-making at Executive and Leadership level.

Role Overview

This senior, hands-on role will lead our corporate fundraising, winning, growing, and stewarding strategic partnerships that deliver both income and impact. You’ll shape a clear offer for businesses (from White City Innovation District players to household names), design engaging staff experiences, and tell the story of one partnership → borough-wide impact. You’ll work closely with the CEO, trustees and colleagues in Partnerships/Grants, Impact and Comms. Targets & Trajectory (guiding KPIs):

• Income: £75k–£125k secured within 18 months; £150k–£200k by end of year two.

• Portfolio: 15+ active corporate relationships; 95% retention.

• Pipeline: Balanced mix of local (e.g., White City Innovation District) and London-wide corporates. 

• Engagement: Deliver 1–2 cultivation events/year with team and trustee involvement.

 Key Responsibilities

1) New Business & Pipeline

• Build and manage a tiered prospect pipeline (e.g., Disney, Imperial College London, L’Oréal; innovation district and borough anchor institutions).

• Lead outreach, discovery, and tailored proposals for £10k–£50k+ partnerships (CIC/CSR/ESG, sponsorship, skills/volunteering, payroll giving, in-kind, cause-related marketing).

• Co-create compelling value propositions and packages (local stories + measurable outcomes + staff engagement).

• Use the consultancy budget strategically (e.g., research, copy/design, senior introductions) to accelerate conversion. 

2) Account Management & Stewardship

• Provide excellent partner experience and stewardship plans; agree on KPIs/MOUs and deliverables; renew and grow multi-year partnerships.

• Design staff engagement that goes beyond volunteering: insight sessions, youth-led events, site visits, mentoring, pro-bono sprints.

• Work with Impact to evidence results (dashboards, case studies, SROI), and with Comms on brand-aligned content and events.

3) Strategy, Governance & Reporting

• Own the corporate income plan aligned to our Revenue Growth Strategy (with realistic quarterly milestones and early-warning triggers).

• Track pipeline and income on the CRM; produce quarterly RAG dashboards for the Task Force/Board.

• Uphold ethical screening and brand alignment; ensure legal/compliance and safeguarding standards are met. 

4) Internal & External Collaboration

• Partner with Partnerships & Grants to align offers and avoid duplication (trusts/consortia insight sharing).

• Leverage the CEO and trustees for warm introductions; brief and support them for pitches/cultivation.

• Champion youth voice and member benefits in every partnership.

The Role

As Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of LTM, ensuring robust financial management, governance, and performance. This is a pivotal role on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), reporting directly to the Director and attending all Board meetings. You will also deputise for the Director when required.

This role goes beyond traditional finance leadership. You will be a moderniser—driving transformation, leading negotiations, overseeing broader business support functions, and contribute to LTM50, including capital programme oversight. You will be the face of financial and business systems at LTM, helping to deliver a future-fit museum aligned with our strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of LTM’s overall budget, ensuring financial sustainability across short, medium, and long-term goals
• Oversee all aspects of financial control, governance, reporting, and compliance with statutory, charity, and TfL requirements
• Deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
• Lead business support functions and liaise with TfL departments including HR, Procurement, Reward, Tech and Data and Finance

• Broad operational knowledge including digital transformation, estates, and HR;

We are seeking a full time Assistant Accountant to support timely processing of financial transactions, accurate accounting, consistency of financial records, supporting the year-end close.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will become an integral part of our dedicated team, ensuring the smooth functioning of financial operations.

Duties and responsibilities

• Maintain and improve accounts receivable processes – review and issue of sales invoices, and debt recovery, and follow-up invoicing queries.
• Recording receipts – subscriptions, legacies, grants, gift aid and investment income.
• Manage and reconcile payments, including direct debits, credit card expenses, and PDQ receipts.
• Perform accurate cash and bank reconciliations and updates of bank and deposit balances.

The Donmar has an exceptional ability to raise private funds, and the vital importance of fundraising is recognised across the organisation and embedded in the overall strategy. Each year we raise around half our income through fundraising from a varied number of sources, with corporate income representing around a third of the fundraised income. The Development team is led by the Director of Strategic Development and Fundraising, and comprises 11 people.

Purpose of role

The Head of Corporate Partnerships will join the Development department at a time of rapid and exciting growth for the team, with a remit to lead a high achieving and ambitious team of three to achieve significant revenue targets through partnerships and sponsorships, oversee a successful corporate masterclass programme and research and implement new opportunities to generate revenue.

Systems administration

• Act as main point of contact for our IT support provider and main systems administrator on our databases (Beacon) and project management tool – no prior experience of these systems is required but you must have a willingness to learn.
• Act as GDPR officer, ensuring data retention and GDPR compliance across the organisation.
• Maintain and update records and processes on project management software.
• Maintain an effective filing and data management system for the organisation across Microsoft SharePoint
• Induct and train staff on new systems and processes.

HR support

• Coordinate the recruitment and induction of staff and contractors.
• Maintain Rosa’s staff handbook, ensuring agreed changes are implemented.
• Lead on Health and Safety compliance across the organisation
• Assist in the policy development and policy review schedule.

Governance support

• Service quarterly Board of Trustee meetings, including collating and formatting of papers
• Maintain accurate Trustee records
• Manage information relating to the Charity, including legal documentation required by external bodies

Grant Administration support

• Process funding awards, including processing payments
• Updating and reconciling grants database with financial management system and 360 giving data
• Undertake regular database cleaning ensuring data is stored correctly.

Philanthropy and Partnerships support

• Assist in the organisation of events
• Support in the transition to a new fundraising database
• Support the recording and reconciliation of donations on the fundraising database, ensuring records are maintained and up to date

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team of 28 staff, ideally before the end of 2025.

This is a hybrid role of 3 to 4 days a week with a minimum of 2 days a week based at the office in Talgarth, LD3 0BW.

We offer flexibility around working hours, with the expectation of trustee meeting attendance 3 times a year, and weekly management and team meetings on-site over 2 days. We offer 24 days holiday (pro rata), plus 8 statutory public holidays (not pro rata). The starting salary is £60,000 (pro rata) plus a 6% employer pension contribution on a salary sacrifice scheme.

The CFO works alongside the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer to manage the finances and governance of The Wye and Usk Foundation (WUF), a conservation charity with an annual income between £1.5m and £2m.

Given the retirement of the current postholder at the end of 2025, we are seeking a well-qualified and experienced individual to take on this senior leadership role as soon as possible to enable handover to occur.

The role is very varied and wide-ranging, including presenting financial information and management accounts to the trustees and senior management on a monthly basis, maintaining annual budgeting, appraising internal project budgets and contracts, preparing annual statutory accounts in line with the Charity SORP and liaising with external auditors, and managing the VAT requirements for the organisation on a partial VAT basis.

The postholder will lead a team of three in the finance department and join a very knowledgeable and welcoming team of 28 highly engaged and passionate staff at WUF.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Working alongside the CEO, the CFO will provide commercial, financial and governance management and leadership for WUF. The CFO will not only be an exceptional accountant, with executive oversight of the finance function, but will be commercially astute and have the confidence to represent robustly the best interests of WUF. The CFO will also be an experienced manager of people.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Act as a business partner to support and constructively challenge the CEO in the general management of WUF, reporting to the trustees.
2. Lead all aspects of the finance function (including maintaining and developing the financial control environment; robust financial accounting; cashflow management; incisive management information; clear and concise reporting to the trustees) to ensure that the Charity and the Companies’ assets are secured, risks are managed, and the Board of Trustees can make well-informed decisions.
3. Manage relationships with auditors, funders, banks, investment platforms (with assistance from the trustees), and other external organisations.
4. Provide support to project bids and the development of other commercial opportunities to ensure that bids/opportunities are optimised for WUF.
5. Provide input to project and programme delivery from time to time, to ensure that performance is maximised for WUF.
6. Attend trustee meetings and Finance and General Purposes Committee meetings to guide the Board of Trustees and the Senior Management Team on financial, commercial and governance issues.
7. Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Charity Commission and Companies House and, from time to time, provide guidance to members of WUF on good governance practice.
