About the role

With an income of almost £35 million, our Finance Team plays a vital role in supporting the organisation and ensuring funds are used effectively.

Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Lead, you'll prepare management accounts and reporting packs, support budgeting and forecasting, maintain reporting systems, and provide financial insights to support decision-making.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you'll help improve reporting processes and the quality of financial information. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your reporting, systems, and analytical skills within a collaborative and supportive team.

The role may be for you if:

• You're skilled in producing financial and management reports for a range of stakeholders.
• You have a recognised accounting qualification (or substantial equivalent experience) and a good understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
• You can support budget and forecasting processes and work accurately with complex financial information.
• You're comfortable working with financial systems, reporting tools and large datasets, and have strong Excel skills.
• You collaborate effectively and positively contribute to an inclusive culture.

The role 

We’re seeking a Financial Accountant to join our great Finance team! 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to showcase their leadership and analytical skills and play a key role within our Finance, People and Operations team as we grow.

You will be proficient in month end accounting and managing your time and a team of 1 to enable the Finance Business Partner to have visibility of finance performance with 5 working days post the end of the month.

You will be able to spot when things look different to expectations or the norm and be able to analyse and correct any variances. 

You will play a critical role in supporting colleagues across the organisation to understand the financial position of the charity and its activities and ensure that our controls and compliance are always upheld. 

About You 

• The ideal candidate will need to collaborate and communicate effectively to help us deliver our mission and vision. You will be used to working effectively and efficiently and provide accurate financial performance in a timely manner.  
• Have financial qualifications (ACCA/CIMA/ACA finalist).
• You will have knowledge and experience of the type of things that are required of an audit and be able to produce back up to explain any balances in the ledgers. 
• You will have strong reconciliation skills and financial intelligence to understand when things are different to what is expecting and provide explanation of variances. 
• Excellent organisational, and time management skills, including the ability to work to deadlines and reprioritise tasks when necessary.

Job role: Senior Financial Accountant
Pay rate: £28.38 per hour plus holiday pay

Are you a hands-on finance professional who thrives on bringing structure, clarity, and control to busy environments?

This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact interim role within a purpose-driven organisation, where your expertise will directly support the stabilisation and improvement of the finance function during a critical period.

Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will take ownership of strengthening core processes, improving reporting, and helping a stretched team regain control and confidence in their financial operations.

What you will be doing

• Provide hands-on support across transactional finance, including AP and AR clean-up
• Take ownership of month-end processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timeliness
• Prepare management accounts and deliver meaningful variance analysis
• Post and review accruals, prepayments, deferred income and journals
• Carry out ledger reconciliations and resolve historic discrepancies
• Work closely with budget holders to improve the quality of financial information
• Document processes and strengthen controls to improve resilience
• Support process improvements within Business Central
• Provide informal guidance and support to finance team members

What will make you successful

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
• Strong hands-on accounting experience across both transactional and core finance
• Proven experience of month-end close, reconciliations and ledger management
• Experience of cleaning up and improving finance processes
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
• A proactive, detail-focused approach with a “completer-finisher” mindset
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support non-finance colleagues
• Comfortable working in fast-paced or evolving environments
