The Director of Finance Business Partnering (Operations) is a critical role within the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance division that will lead, develop and deliver high quality finance business partnering and decision support to all the central services of the university, including providing financial planning, reporting and insight across revenue and capital funded activity. 

You will support the senior Director of the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance function in development and improvement projects. Examples include the development of a professional competencies framework to support career progression and performance at all levels, supported by learning and development opportunities, improving key processes, resource allocation and financial planning methodologies, and reporting on financial performance.

As part of the function’s senior management team, this role will lead a team of finance business partners who will provide outstanding partnering services to our central services including large functions such as Estates and Facilities, IT, Students & Education, Research Management and on other crucial ‘head office’ activities. Working closely with the corporate reporting team on the provision of management accounts, you will lead on financial performance support in-year and across our three-year financial planning framework. About the role

As Programme Finance Officer you will provide support to the full life cycle of grants: from donor concept proposals to final reports. You will maintain a close working relationship with all finance and programme teams and relevant staff across their international network and external donors. You will prepare financial information for internal reporting purposes, including the quarterly CEO report, monthly dashboards, and quarterly cash balance reports.

About the role

This role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Migrant Children’s Project but with support for the Child Law Advice Service and Coram International where required. Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for core financial functions within CCLC including legal aid billing and management and tracking of grant and other charitable funding. Through systematic and efficient financial management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial sustainability. The role will act as a key point of contact with Coram’s central finance team and a range of internal and external stakeholders on financial matters.

The role will also oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through line management of operations and administrative staff.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. Interim Head of Finance | 3 Month + | £300 - £350 per day (outside IR35) | Hybrid | Croydon

For a small but vital refugee charity, we are recruiting an Interim Head of Finance for 3 + months, starting ASAP. Reporting to the CEO, the main accountabilities will focus on providing insightful monthly management accounts and reporting to the Senior Leadership Team and Trustees / Board, and to ensure the correct allocation of expenditure to a high number of grant funds. The organisation Working with a very well-established charitable foundation, the organisation comprises of three independent schools and two state-funded academies.

Your role The Group Finance Manager will work within a small team and an extended team of around 15-20 finance staff in the schools. annual report. You will also manage the group cash treasury system, managing 20+ bank accounts.

You will manage significant investments and investment property. You will also maintain an accurate cash flow forecast for the group. About this role

The role of the Finance and Payroll Manager is to support the Development and Finance teams to manage and report on restricted income, as well as to manage monthly in-house payroll under the guidance of the Head of Finance. This involves ensuring that we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes and that staff are paid accurately and on time each month. The Finance and Payroll Manager will work within a small Finance team under the supervision of the Head of Finance. They will work closely with the Joint ED, wider Senior Management Team, Head of Development and budget holders throughout the organisation.

They will support the Head of Finance with annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting as well as with the production of the monthly management accounts. They will support the Development team in making grant applications and develop restricted grant budgets for newly secured grants for integration into the organisational budget; they will meet regularly with the Development team and budget holders to review restricted project spend. They will produce reports for funders working in conjunction with our Development Team and casework teams. The Finance and Payroll Manager will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement of the finance systems, processes and grant management tools to ensure they continue to be fit for purpose.

Contract and location

The role is a full-time, permanent position with an annual salary of £50,571 per annum less any required deductions for Income Tax and National Insurance.

As Finance & Operations Officer, you will report to the Chief Executive and help with all ‘back office’ activities for the charity.  These include: all bookkeeping activities; producing monthly and annual financial reports; managing and overseeing the use of Views, our Monitoring and Evaluation system from Substance; supporting the Chief Exec in ensuring policies and procedures are kept up to date; and supporting the team with analysis and reporting to funders.  You will also run the payroll.  The Treasurer, one of the trustees, who has been doing the accounts and performing many of the back office activities up to this point, will support you.

Summary of responsibilities

• Bookkeeping

• Bank reconciliations, posting of transactions, logging invoices and receipts 

• Allocations, e.g. of team costs based on timesheets and of justgiving donations

• Maintaining chart of accounts and tracking categories in response to new project reporting requirements

• Management reporting and cashflow planning

• Monthly management accounts and other regular programme financial reports

• Liaison with CEO and Fundraising Manager to understand / update latest project and funding status and refresh cashflow forecasts

• Financial reports for trustee meetings (4 per year)

• Financial reports for funders as required

• Budgeting

• Liaison with CEO, Programme Managers and Fundraising Manager to create and maintain programme and organisational budgets and three year financial plan

• Gift Aid

• Preparation and submission of Gift Aid claims to HMRC

• Annual Accounts

• Production of annual accounts for submission to Charity Commission

• Support for fundraising

• Updating funding status tracker with funds received / expected

• Restating budgets in formats required by funders

• Payroll & pensions

• Running the payroll monthly – using the Iris Kashflow payroll system

• Submitting monthly pension contribution schedule to NEST

• Updating records for new joiners and leavers

• Other HR admin

• Setting up timesheets for the team for the year

• Maintaining a salary and cost to employ spreadsheet and advising on budget impact of proposed salary rises

• Management of Views

• Managing users and data access

• Creating new questionnaires and application forms requested by the team

• Analysis of participant profiles and questionnaire responses (outcomes) for reporting to the team and to funders

• General housekeeping

• Over time, becoming an expert user, able to train / advise others in the system

• Mobile Device Management

• Keeping track of our stock of iPads and laptops

• Using MDM software to manage security and control configurations

• Policies and procedures

• Managing an annual review of the charity’s policies and procedures, ensuring they are up to date and, with the Chief Exec, refreshing as needed

Skills / Experience Required

Essential:

• Bookkeeping and financial management

• Strong skills with spreadsheets

• Passable understanding of IT, willing to learn new systems

• Able to work independently

• Organised

• Good attention to detail

Desirable:

• Ability to work flexibly, adjusting hours worked each week to what is required

• Experience of working in the charity sector

• Knowledge of Xero

• Knowledge of Views from Substance (we realise this is very unlikely)

• Payroll and pensions administration experience

• Interest in music and young people
