We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Director of Finance and Operations. This is a pivotal position within our organisation, offering the unique opportunity to shape and drive the financial and operational strategies that will propel our peacebuilding and partnership efforts forward over the next several years to deliver on its 2021-2031 strategy.
As the Director of Finance and Operations, you will guide the development and implementation of our financial plans and operational initiatives. Job purpose:
As a key member of Saferworld's senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will be instrumental in helping to shape the organisation's strategic direction. The role will strive to ensure financial sustainability, and the embedding of a business partnering approach to achieve Saferworld’s mission. This post-holder will provide strategic guidance and hands-on oversight of all critical financial and contractual aspects of our operations, and lead other key organisational functions, such as security and IT systems, enhancing resource management efficiency and organisational effectiveness. The Director will assess and optimise business processes and controls ensuring they are rooted in our strategy, identify and mitigate risks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability.
Key responsibilities:
· Provide strategic leadership on financial strategy and management.
· Advise and support the CEO and Board on all financial matters, including risk management
· Oversee the organisation’s finance systems (including SUN), policies, and processes.
· Oversee global operational activities, such as insurance, procurement, ICT systems and relevant policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and maintaining global impact.
· Oversee global security efforts, encompassing physical and cyber aspects, to safeguard organisational assets and data.

Person specification
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
- Accountancy qualifications, preferably CIMA, ACA and ACCA, and a clear understanding of Charity Fund accounting (SORP 2008 and the Charities Act 2003)
- Extensive experience in financial management and interdepartmental budgeting in a senior leadership position in an international organisation (preferable and international charity/non-for-profit).
- In-depth understanding of the complexity of overseeing and managing finances in an international context, particularly in contexts of conflict and/or war, including complexities of banking, tax, cash-flow management, exchange rate fluctuations and impact on budgets and forecasts, financial reporting, legal compliance, and transferring of funds to civil society and community-based organisation within different contexts, including conflict-affected areas.
- Senior leadership experience within the charity/not-for-profit sector and an understanding of costing funding bids and ensuring financial reporting systems meet funder requirements
- Experience of engaging and working with diverse funding streams including institutional donors, commercial contracts and Trust and Foundations and multiple currencies and geographic jurisdictions,
- Experience of working with a business partnering approach to achieve with others joint goals.
- An understanding and experience of project management delivery across an organisation, including an ability and willingness to undertake 'hands-on' tasks, such as preparing budgets, cash flows and other financial planning, management and control processes if required
- Operational experience in overseeing and supporting IT systems, especially in financial systems development – experience with the SUN system is especially desirable
- Experience working with a Board of Trustees and other governance levels of an organisation
- A track record in proven line and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others to deliver shared results
- Experience in communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing

The Director of Programmes and Partnerships is responsible for ensuring The Diana Award delivers quality impactful programmes and develops strong strategic partnerships that harness young people's power and potential to change the world. This role is one of four Director-level positions within the organisation, forming the Senior Leadership Team alongside the CEO.
The Programmes Directorate currently comprises four teams: Anti-Bullying, Mentoring, Social Action, and Impact and Influence, with a staff count of 25 plus a pool of associate trainers. The Diana Award’s programme strategy (2021-2026) focuses on embedding evidence-driven, youth-led approaches across our programmes, enhancing our profile as a platform for youth-led social action, and increasing our influence on policies affecting young people.
The Director of Programmes and Partnerships will work collaboratively with other members of SLT and the CEO to drive forward the organisation’s strategy and plans as set out in The Diana Award’s five-year strategy, Future Forward, and play a vital role in shaping the new strategy.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Leadership
- Drive the organisation’s strategy and vision as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, taking key decisions in the best interest of the organisation.

Programme Strategy

- Lead the design, delivery, and review of The Diana Award’s programme strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and conducting quarterly reviews to monitor progress.
- Work with the Impact and Influence team to embed evidence-based programming within the directorate, developing and rolling out appropriate systems and processes for monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
- Oversee The Diana Award’s policy function, supporting the Policy team and heads of teams to develop and embed policy objectives within programme plans, contribute to policy development, and identify opportunities to engage policymakers with our work.

About You:
To be successful as the Head of Criminal Justice Services you will need the below experience and skills:
You will be experienced of and have a proven track record of strategic leadership and management. You can demonstrate your experience of developing services at a senior level of management, ideally gained from working at a ‘Head of’ or Senior Services Management level previously. The postholder will deliver her experience of managing contracts, relationships and partnerships and knowledge of safeguarding particularly domestic abuse survivors with multiple disadvantages and needs and their children.
You will be a people person and have a breadth of experience surrounding the range of performance management and developing quality assurance systems. Highly developed in negotiating skills and ability to manage change. Lastly you will be skilled at being and creating an atmosphere of calm, proactive, solution focussed in challenging times

Strategy Development:

About us:
Established in 2021, Opportunity Green is a fast-growing not-for-profit organisation that helps to identify and unlock opportunities to tackle climate change. We build ambitious coalitions, support climate vulnerable countries in international negotiations and find innovative legal pathways to fight climate change. We are now looking for a Climate Economics & Diplomacy Senior Director to expand our work on a climate just economy.
What’s the role?
Economics is the study of the distribution of finite resources across our planet. And yet the profession often seems to forget that resources really are finite, and that distribution must be equitable. The number one argument we hear against most climate measures is economic: what about growth? What about jobs? What’s the business case? Opportunity Green’s Senior Director will develop our narrative to ward off these questions but more fundamentally, bring economics systems change – and how to influence policymakers to incorporate this change into their thinking - to the forefront of all our work. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for any economist who believes that the climate movement needs more economic expertise and can bring ideas on how to embed the necessary change in economic thinking to climate policy. You will be OG’s first economist hire (other than the CEO) and you will have the opportunity to shape our economics strategy.
Initially you will work with our established international shipping policy team, working to ensure that the shipping sector which is historically undertaxed, begins to contribute in financial terms to climate vulnerable countries. Meanwhile, many large shipping companies have large revenue which goes to shareholders in the global north. One of your first projects could be to assess the current geographical imbalance of financial flows from the shipping industry, and work alongside our international shipping team to reimagine the economics of the shipping sector to meet our climate goals.
A very similar argument can be made on the aviation side. The EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) currently only covers intra-EU flights but soon a discussion will be had on whether that should also cover international flights. Opportunity Green believes the EU ETS should cover international flights and that, very importantly, some of the ETS revenue must go to support the climate vulnerable. We are looking for someone who can support both these goals but more fundamentally, raise the profile of both sectors as potential sources of climate finance in broader international climate finance discussions.
However, we recognise that agreeing to raise revenue from aviation and shipping sectors is only the first step. The next step will be to ensure that those revenues actually reach climate vulnerable communities. The Senior Director will work with the international shipping team to expand OG’s policy on the distribution of revenues, with the explicit goal of maximising their support for climate vulnerable communities. You will follow international climate finance discussions and strategically intervene for OG when our goals can be supported.
Initially you will report to the CEO, while the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer is on parental leave. You will manage a team of three, with one direct line report initially, who are already well established in supporting climate vulnerable countries in the International Maritime Organization.

The successful candidate will be offered an annual salary of £80,000 plus 10% employer-contributed pension. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Coordination
-
Act as the first point of contact for Tour Managers, Agents and Artists, fielding initial production queries and questions about the venue, schedule etc.

Support the Director, Music Programmer and Technical team in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships and clear communication channels with artists, partners, promoters, producers and other ICA departments.

Be responsible for coordinating and communicating all pre-production and delivery requirements with in-house departments including Finance, Operations and Visitor Services, Technical, Marketing and Communications. Including, but not limited to, FOH staffing requirements, Technician requirements, Security and Cleaners.

Work with the Technical Manager on technical and staging requirements of each event to ensure that rider specifics can be achieved within agreed budgetary parameters. Meet regularly with Technical Manager to ensure good channels of comms with tech team.

Undertake planning and administration for own promotions, including booking hotels and travel in liaison with the artists and providing necessary transport as per contractual agreement.

Complete Certificates of Sponsorship or Letters of Invitation for all non-EEA artists (as required) and supply info to artists who wish to apply for FEU tax exemptions/reductions as necessary.

Order riders and booking event catering within agreed budgets, as required.

In the instance the event is live streamed, ensure that we secure the relevant rights for broadcast.

Liaise with programmers, promoters and internal departments to make the necessary arrangements for performance by high profile artists.

Create Function Sheets, used to brief other internal teams, for every event.

Coordinate and communicate event timings with the ICA Bar team, including requests for late closes and early opening.
Contracts and Budgets
-
Issue approved and signed off contracts from the Music Programmer based on deal memos agreed and provided by the Music Programmer and ensure that these are confirmed, communicated, and understood by relevant parties before events are put on sale.

Work closely with the Music Programmer to track budgets (which will be initially set by the Music Programmer) and report final figures after each event.

Annual reporting of ticket income to PRS

Reconcile budgets, manage post-concert settlements and ensure invoices are paid following all live events, feeding final budget figures back to the Music Programmer.
Ticket On-Sale Process

Monitor box office sales during pre-production and provide final settlements to the Music Programmer and external promoters as required.

Provide information and communicate arrangements for the sale of merchandise, programmes and any other ancillary commercial activity in conjunction with the Bookshop Manager.
Event Delivery

Attend and manage on-the-day event delivery for approximately 2 shows a week (a rough estimate, although may increase or decrease at different times of the year).

Work with the Executive Producer to produce monthly rotas for Event Supervisors to cover attendance of live events.

When allocated and agreed with the Music Programmer, to attend and oversee rehearsals, soundchecks and performances in the ICA Theatre, acting as the first point of contact on behalf of the ICA.

Any other appropriate duties as required by the Director and Head of Artistic Programmes. This may include occasional event management of dance and live performance projects.
PERSON REQUIREMENTS

● Has demonstrable professional experience of coordinating live arts events to the highest standards
● Is able to work well and communicate with a wide range of people, including internal and external stakeholders
● Has an interest in and professional knowledge of working in contemporary music and performance
● Has a positive approach to work and is able to work flexibly and proactively
● Collaborative approach to team working, including the ability to forge strong relationships with colleagues across the organization
● Has experience of managing event budgets
● Is well organised, with outstanding administration and project management skills and precise attention to detail
● Can manage their own time and can demonstrate they are able to work to and meet deadlines
● Has good persuasion skills, including enabling others to meet deadlines
● Has demonstrable experience of remaining calm under pressure
● Is solutions-focussed, with a can-do attitude to resolving issues as they arise
● Has a broad knowledge and understanding of the arts sector

Desirable skills and experience:
● Experience of working in event management across the performing art forms.
● Knowledge of Artifax systems or other venue management and ticketing systems.
