Role Overview

Mothers’ Union is seeking a talented and organised Communications & Publications Coordinator to support the delivery of high-quality written communications across the charity. This role will play a key part in shaping and sharing our voice through articles, press releases, media engagement, and the management of our two publications.

Working closely with the Acting Director of Communications & Marketing, the postholder will help ensure that Mothers’ Union’s mission, faith, impact, and advocacy work are clearly, professionally, and consistently communicated to members, supporters, clergy, partners, and the wider public.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career communications professional with strong writing skills and an interest in faith-based or charitable work.

Key Responsibilities

Writing & Editorial

·Researching, writing, and editing articles, features, and news stories for internal and external publications.

·Drafting press releases, media statements, briefings, and opinion pieces.

·Supporting the production and editorial coordination of Mothers’ Union newsletters, magazines, and other publications (print and digital).

·Proofreading and ensuring consistency of tone, style, and brand voice across all communications.

·Assisting with the development of case studies and impact stories.

·Maintain an up-to-date bank of FAQs, accessible to all staff members, to respond to regular queries from within and outside the membership.

·Update a PowerPoint quarterly with briefing notes for colleagues and members speaking about MU externally.

Media & Public Relations

·Supporting proactive media outreach and maintaining media contact lists.

·Responding to media enquiries in coordination with the Director of Communications & Marketing.

·Preparing briefing documents for interviews and public appearances.

·Monitoring media coverage and compiling press reports.

·Identifying opportunities for earned media coverage to raise awareness of Mothers’ Union’s work.

·Creating resources to help members connect with local media such as draft press releases and how to write engaging news stories.

Publications Management

·Coordinating content schedules and deadlines for the charity’s bi-yearly Connected Magazine and the annual Prayer Diary.

·Liaising with contributors, designers, printers, and external suppliers as required.

·Ensuring all publications meet brand and editorial standards.

·Proofreading external collateral for teams across the charity.

·Assisting with distribution planning and stakeholder communications.

Administrative & Team Support

·Managing the Communications and Marketing inboxes.

·Supporting campaign delivery through written materials and briefing documents.

·Assisting with communications for events, exhibitions, and key initiatives.

·Managing incoming communications requests and scheduling workflow.

·Attending team meetings and contributing ideas.

·Supporting cross-organisational communication projects as required.

Person Specification

Essential

·Excellent written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences including clergy.

·Strong proofreading and editing skills with high attention to detail.

·Experience writing articles, features, press releases, or similar content.

·A professional and confident approach to internal and external communications.

·Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

·A collaborative team player who can work with direction.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern

This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

This Role’s Impact:

As CRM and Systems Lead, you’ll be responsible for the design, development and ownership of TLG’s Power Platform solutions, with a focus on Dynamics 365 configuration, Power BI reporting, and Power Automate workflows. Key responsibilities

Experience we're after

• Demonstrated experience in digital engagement and communications activities—especially creating content with young people.

• Experience of using digital platforms to engage networks and communities.

• Proven track record of project coordination, event management, or logistical planning within a youth or voluntary sector setting.

As this role involves working in a regulated environment with young people, any offer will be conditional to satisfactory background checks, which include criminal record check and employment reference.

You will be building great relationships with our Corporate members and involving them with the work of the trust and inspiring them to support our range of inspiring projects. You will use your networking skills at events to proactively find new corporate supporters, and retain our existing supporters by running corporate events on our nature reserves across the county. We’re looking for a part-time Executive Assistant (20 hours per week) to support our Executive Leaders and help Samaritans continue to be there for people when it matters most.​

As an Executive Assistant, you’ll be highly organised and a great communicator. You’ll be responsible for providing highly efficient and effective support across all administrative and organisational activities. Working in a responsive team you will be one of the first points of contact for the Executive Leadership Team and will assist with administration and organisation of diaries for meetings and travel arrangements, preparing briefs and drafting a range of communications. You’ll attend key meetings in a supporting role and ensure efficiency and timely support to the Leadership team.​

​You’ll also assist with front-line reception administration services in the Ewell (Surrey) Office as required.

• Ensure the Community's financial sustainability through robust financial planning and management, including setting budgets, controlling spending, maximising occupancy, negotiating care contracts, growing day services, and spotting fundraising opportunities;

We’re looking for a Community Coordinator to take ownership of a group of WeSwim clubs, playing a central role in building and supporting a thriving, connected community around them. 

This is a role for someone who is excellent at relationship building and enjoys being at the heart of things. You’ll work closely with disabled swimmers, volunteers and our pool partners to create a welcoming, inclusive and seamless experience from first contact through to regular participation. 

You’ll coordinate sessions, support swimmers into the water, build strong local relationships, and help clubs grow through outreach and community engagement. 

Alongside keeping things running smoothly, you’ll be out in the community, getting to know people, spotting opportunities, and supporting volunteers and swimmers to take part in ways that feel meaningful to them. 

You’ll enjoy juggling multiple priorities, achieving targets, and supporting the growth of a  small, mission-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Club operations & coordination: Coordinate weekly swim sessions across your allocated clubs, making sure sessions run smoothly. Act as the main point of contact for swimmers, volunteers, committees and pool partners, building strong relationships and resolving day-to-day issues. Regularly visit clubs to get to know volunteers and swimmers, understand how sessions are running, and identify any issues or opportunities.

• Swimmer journey & membership: Manage the swimmer journey from application through to first session and ongoing participation. Monitor attendance and engagement and meet recruitment and attendance targets ensuring a balanced flow of swimmers.

• Swimmer recruitment & outreach: Build relationships with local organisations to raise awareness of WeSwim and support referrals. Deliver outreach activity to maintain a steady flow of new swimmers into clubs and waiting lists. Support the setup and launch of new WeSwim clubs by building local awareness and supporting swimmer recruitment, working closely with the wider team.

• Volunteer engagement & club presence: Build strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued and supported. Support volunteer with regular communications and work closely with the wider team to improve volunteer experience.

• Systems & administration: Maintain accurate club records including membership data and attendance logs. Monitor attendance and impact data to support reporting. Use and improve systems and processes to support efficient coordination and growth.

• Community participation & engagement: Support volunteers, swimmers and supporters to organise and lead their own activities and initiatives (e.g. events, challenges, social activities). Create simple accessible resources that support people to take part and contribute. Be the main point of contact for people who want to get more involved in WeSwim.

What the job involves

We’re seeking an Email Marketing Officer to join our Integrated Marketing and Media team. In this role, you’ll manage the day-to-day running of our email and SMS platform, making sure every message is engaging, accessible, and delivers real impact for our supporters. You'll make sure we're targeting the right supporters, with the right comms, at the right time.

You’ll work closely with teams across Prostate Cancer UK to help shape their messages for email, offering best practice advice, guidance and training where needed. Day to day, you’ll review content to identify opportunities for improvement, and write or edit copy that is clear, engaging and aligned with our tone of voice. You'll work closely with the team to help build compelling email campaigns and use analytics tools to monitor performance and suggest ways we can improve engagement, loyalty and drive actions and income.

As part of the Digital Marketing and Channels team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across web, social media and strategic communications to ensure our owned channels work seamlessly together. You’ll support teams in making the best use of email marketing, help roll out new features and capabilities within the platform, and play a key role in improving how we communicate with our warm supporter audience.

Please note internally this role is known as Digital Channels Officer – Email. 

What we want from you

We’re looking for someone with solid experience in digital marketing, particularly email and SMS marketing, either in-house or at an agency. You’ll be confident planning, writing and building campaigns that engage a specific audience and encourage meaningful action.

You’ll have experience using email marketing platforms (ideally Upland Adestra, though experience with tools such as MailChimp or DotDigital would also be valuable). A good understanding of campaign analytics, testing and optimisation is essential, along with the ability to turn performance data into clear recommendations.

You’ll be an excellent communicator and a brilliant writer, able to create clear, punchy and engaging content — from compelling emails to concise text messages. You’ll also be confident supporting colleagues across the organisation, explaining best practice and helping others feel more confident using digital channels.

In this role, you’ll need to manage priorities effectively and work well under tight deadlines.
