The For Baby’s Sake Trust seeks to appoint a Deputy Director of Operations. The Deputy Director will work with the Director of Operations to lead programme development and delivery across the Trust. As the Deputy Director, you'll manage Regional Team Managers, ensure the consistent and robust delivery of the For Baby’s Sake programme and other services across all sites, and collaborate with delivery partners. This is a full-time role, reporting to the Director of Operations. It's a permanent position with a salary of £60,000 and offers the flexibility of working from home, with occasional travel as needed.

The primary purpose of this role is to help children and young people take practical steps to become more digitally resilient and be safer online. Our freelance School Engagement Officers introduce the highly impactful Breck’s story into schools and other youth and community spaces across the country and deliver inspiring, educational talks to students, parents and guardians, teachers, and other groups in a ‘whole community’ approach.

Breck Foundation is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard children and young people online. Our organisation was founded in 2014 in response to the tragic loss of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our work aims to prevent this from ever happening again. Our work saves lives. We reach thousands of children and young people in schools and other community settings with Breck's story every year. Our talks and educational materials fill a gap in the current UK curriculum that otherwise leaves children vulnerable to online grooming and exploitation. With 98% of young people now active internet users, current and future generations grow up having to navigate new and evolving digital dangers. We are committed to making the internet a place where children can live, play, and thrive in safety. We are helping young people reclaim the internet.

Let’s Go Zero is a national campaign uniting teachers, pupils, parents and their schools as they all work together to be zero carbon by 2030. We’re also working with national government to ensure the right support is in place to help all schools reach this goal through seven policy actions.

The Let’s Go Zero campaign is seeking one Climate Action Advisor based in Cumbria or Lancashire, and one Climate Action Advisor based in North/North East Lincolnshire or Hull, as part of its new climate action advisors project. This initiative will link thousands of schools across the whole of England with advice and support from a network of 31 local climate experts.     

About the Role 

Do you have a passion for climate action? Are you confident engaging with external stakeholders? We're looking for two advisors to support school leaders, local authorities and others to carry out projects that reduce emissions and inspire students and the wider community. We know schools are eager to take climate action, but often lack the information to do so.

You will play an important role helping them develop their plans, secure funding, and work in partnership to achieve their goals. You will support future new initiatives announced by our coalition members, the Department for Education, or other organisations working in schools, to ensure a smooth flow of information, enabling schools to transition to zero carbon.

Climate action advice: 

• Advising school leaders, multi academy trust leaders, local authorities and local networks about climate action in buildings, estates and within school activities.

• Attending and speaking in person at local and online events to encourage climate action and promoting sustainability.

Communications:

About You

We’re working to deliver a five-year strategy with growth at its heart and we’re looking for an exceptional person to join our team as Head of Service Delivery and Volunteering, to be a vital part of this exciting phase of our development.

Reporting to the CEO and sitting within the senior management team, you will lead a team that brings older people and volunteers into our organisation.   Making full use of technology and building strong relationships with our volunteers, you’ll deliver volunteer-led services that help make life less lonely for thousands of older people each year.   

Key responsibilities

Leadership 

• Create a high performing team culture that’s ambitious and passionate about Re-engages vision for older people. 
• Contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction and play an active role in operational and budget planning for both the charity as a whole and the Service Delivery department.
• Identify opportunities to develop new ways to use technology to improve our systems, develop new services and enhance customer service.

Operational Delivery 

• Oversee and manage operations to provide a seamless service to volunteers and older people throughout their time with Re-engage from recruitment to departure.
• Create a culture of continuous improvement, using data and stakeholder feedback to shape our services and the support offered. 
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and lead contact for safeguarding for the board of trustees.  Ensure that safeguarding is at the heart of our work, implementing robust safeguarding principles and practices. 
• Harness technology to create high quality, efficient, consistent, person-centred experiences for older people and volunteers. 
• Ensure volunteers receive appropriate, interactive and engaging volunteer training. 
• Work with Engagement and Fundraising teams to ensure delivery of commitments to funders, setting appropriate targets for team members.
• Work with the Communications and Impact teams to develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer communication strategy, based on what volunteers want and need from Re-engage to support their volunteering.
• Work with colleagues to ensure the experience of our volunteers and older people is measured and monitored.

About you

Essential

• Experience of developing, supporting and managing volunteer led, sustainable services. 
• Passionate about, and experienced in, working across all aspects of volunteer management. 
• Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable people with proven competence of managing safeguarding systems and processes, confidentiality, and the implications of GDPR when working with volunteers and older people.
• Strong project management and data analysis capabilities. 
• Experienced in working with CRMs, automated systems, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Dynamics or equivalent systems.
• Highly motivated and engaging leader with strong people management skills. 
• Energised by change and a commitment to continuous improvement. 
• Skilled communicator and an experienced influencer. 
• This role will require an enhanced criminal record check.

Desirable

Full driving licence and own car preferred, as this post will require travel across the UK as and when required, and quarterly overnight stays.

What you'll be doing
We have a grand opportunity for someone looking to grow their charity experience - As our Fundraising Officer, you'll generate income by creating exceptional written applications and reports. To do this, you'll dive into research, keeping tabs on all fundraising opportunities, as well as crafting strong grant proposals, which is a key aspect of this role. You'll also need to bring in new corporate supporters by building new relationships/sponsorships as well as maintaining existing ones.

Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. We all share it. It drives the NSPCC's Major Giving Department to bring in the funds needed to protect children and prevent abuse. Join us at the NSPCC as a Senior Public Sector Development Manager.

The Major Giving Department at the NSPCC has an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to become part of the Statutory Team, securing significant income from national, devolved and local government, research grant-makers and commercial tenders.

The Senior Public Sector Development Manager will work with the Lead for Public Sector Development, the Associate Head of Philanthropy, another Senior Public Sector Development Manager and two Public Sector Development Managers towards a shared income target of around £5 million per annum. These funds will create ground-breaking NSPCC projects that support millions of children, and help prevent abuse across the UK.

The recruited fundraiser will work at both a national and local level to lead on securing six and seven-figure grants to help the Statutory team achieve its annual income target. Working across the charity, they will build relationships with senior stakeholders, and source and share information with funders through engaging written materials, phone conversations and face-to-face meetings. Alongside managing their own portfolio, they will think strategically and lead on maximising new public sector funding streams.

The Major Giving Department is open and supportive with an active social life. The wider Trusts & Statutory Team has grown considerably - increasing its annual income by more than £6 million since 2017/18. The successful candidate will have:

• A track record of successfully bidding for six and/or seven-figure donations

• Viva MEAL framework: You will develop and manage a robust MEAL Framework for Viva
• Network health: You will work closely with the Network Partnerships Leadership Team to review Viva’s Network Health Check process and develop a system designed to support partner networks to build strong and sustainable networks
• Reviewing project delivery: You will work closely with Network Coaches to agree the most efficient outworking of the MEAL Framework with the Viva partner networks for projects where Viva has brokered funding.
• Evaluating Viva’s work: You will lead the process of evaluating Viva’s work, including but not limited to needs assessments, baseline survey, final evaluation, data quality audits, collecting monitoring data, network satisfaction surveys, and field supervision.
• Representing Viva: You will at different times and ways represent Viva externally, for example, through speaking in churches, prayer meetings, meeting with other Christian organisations.

This role will suit you if you:

• have at least a Bachelor’s degree in impact measurement or international development with a MEAL module, or a related field
• are experienced in working in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning-related functions or related field
• have experience in project management including grant management and reporting
• are to demonstrate an active Christian faith, with an understanding of the Christian faith and church culture to be able to effectively engage with partner networks and churches

This is a part-time role for Viva, based anywhere in the world where Viva can employ you. If based in the UK, the full-time salary range is £36,000 to £40,000 per annum (pro-rata), depending on experience. If you are based outside of the UK, the reward package will be adjusted to reflect the relevant local market and terms and conditions.

The role can be remote, hybrid or office-based where Viva has an office (Hong Kong, UK, Uganda). The post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and registration with the DBS Update Service (or police check where possible outside the UK), paid for by Viva.
