Our key focus is supporting young people who face particular challenges, including: cared-for young people and care leavers, disabled and neurodiverse young people, unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC)/new arrivals, young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and young people who are not ready for work.

Founded in 2007, Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) has grown from a single volunteering project to an established and highly respected charity delivering multiple youth programmes across Greater Manchester. GMYN has supported marginalised young people, providing new opportunities and chances to progress in life.

The Head of Business Development role

We are looking for an experienced, confident, and committed Head of Business Development to join our growing charity. This senior role is part of GMYN’s leadership team and would be responsible for coming up with new business opportunities to generate income, as well as produce proposals to various funders and trusts.

It is a hugely exciting time to join GMYN and the Head of Business Development is a vital role. The charity is growing and extending our programmes and services across Greater Manchester, and we will be launching our new three year strategy in July. This role is key to support with leading the charity to achieve financial and growth targets as well as coming up with new and innovative business opportunities.

You will also have the opportunity to influence the future direction of GMYN as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic input into how we deliver our services to help transform the lives of young people.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude as well as experience in developing and growing services, ideally for young people. You will have significant experience in business development and/or income generation with a proven track record of meeting targets with strong commercial awareness.

You will be confident in managing, inspiring and engaging with both external and internal stakeholders and be a flexible and committed team player.

You will also need experience in helping lead change within an organisation, supporting our team on our journey of growth and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on all commissioning activity at GMYN directly with commissioners and through tendering activity.
• Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids to a variety of local and national funders/foundations.
• Develop a thorough understanding of GMYN’s programmes and services in order to promote and create business development opportunities to generate income.
• Identify new opportunities across Greater Manchester to identify new partnerships and collaborations based on consultation and research (e.g. housing, health, schools, commissioners, colleges, local authorities and local businesses).
• Promote and secure funding for GMYN’s existing traded services (training, consultancy) and develop new ones to create new income generation opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing stakeholders including funders, delivery partners, businesses and participants.
• Design and implement an income generation strategy alongside the CEO that supports growth, and impact of GMYN’s programmes.
• Provide strategic overview for GMYN’s design of new programmes and impact measurement, ensuring GMYN can evidence the difference we make.
• Line management of the organisation’s Fundraising and Development team.
• To form a key part of the GMYN Senior Leadership team, supporting the day to day running of the organisation.
• Contribute to helping GMYN provide a positive, ambitious and collaborative team culture.
• To deputise for the CEO as required ensuring continued organisational and service delivery.

Personal Specification

You don't have to have worked in the voluntary youth sector previously. Our aim is to find a suitable candidate that can meet the selection criteria below. This can be from a past/current income generation/business development role, or a role with transferable skills.

More importantly we are looking for someone with genuine passion for working for a youth charity. Someone who can join our fundraising team and make a big impression, helping us to achieve our income generation goals. We want to hire an enthusiastic person who can maintain positive working relationships with various supporters, delivery partners and all stakeholders.

• Proven experience in achieving new business and generating income for an organisation, with relevant experience in a similar role or a role with transferable skills.
• Experience of successful bid production and bid management – from identification of opportunity through to submission.
• Track record in successful tendering for retention of contracts and new business.
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective networks, relationships, and partnerships – internally and with external stakeholders – to support development of proposals and service design.
• Knowledge of public sector commissioning, particularly from a third sector and ability to work with local authorities and other funders.
• Knowledge of the structures of the voluntary/statutory and private sectors with regards to supporting the funding and delivery of youth programmes.
• Experience of line management of various roles with proven experience of developing, motivating and supporting staff in key roles.
• Experience in programme/project management including a through understanding of measuring outcomes and impact.
• Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop effective strategies.

About the role:

Kinship is in our third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We are looking for a new Associate Director of Peer Support and Community to build and develop our model and to take the team to the next phase of growth and impact.

Your first priority will be to oversee delivery of the Department for Education national Peer Support Service contract in England. You will lead the development of our hub and spoke model, with an enhanced offer of national resources and support together with a continued focus on on-the-ground support for kinship carers to set up and sustain a network of peer support groups. You will ensure all members of the team have clarity and are empowered to meet new targets and ways of working.

The role will also lead on the strategic development of peer support approaches in Wales (for which we are seeking funding), ensuring innovation and good practice is shared across the nations.

Kinship peer support groups are powerful levers for change in local, regional and national ecosystems. Your team will ensure that every kinship carer in England and Wales has access to a peer support group, or support to set up and create their own. The team will be purposeful about offering developmental support to all kinship peer support groups, including independent groups, ensuring they remain or become sustainable. And that they have resources, training and peer networks to support this.

Reflecting our strategic focus on developing our Kinship Community of more than 10,000 kinship carers across England and Wales, you will lead a new community strategy, co-ordinating the development of opportunities for community connection and community power. This will include taking leadership for developing the Kinship model of community engagement and integrating across all our ‘in person’ and digital services and activities.

You will ensure a collaborative approach with services, alignment with national and local campaigning activity, and work closely with marketing and communications colleagues to support kinship carer reach and engagement with our community offer.

We’re taking an integrated approach to our services, so you’ll collaborate well across teams to ensure that support groups and their leaders have easy access to high quality advice, information and training. The team will need to work closely with colleagues delivering our new training and support contract, funded by the Department for Education.

Key responsibilities include:

• Innovation of the Peer Support Service.

• Develop and rollout peer support and community strategy and operational plan. 

• Implement monitoring and evaluation and impact tools for timely and accurate reporting of activity and engagement.

• Work with the Development team to develop proposals for the community and peer support which are ready for fundraising and business development.

Essential requirements include:

• Substantial experience in scaling a national service or programme with high quality outputs. This includes overseeing delivery, strategic planning, budgeting, managing delivery, meeting KPIs, stakeholder engagement and reporting to funders.

• Experience of governance and managing risk on high profile service delivery.

• Experience of effective budget management.

• Significant experience of leading the development and delivery of peer support services.

For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. The services of the charity are delivered by an enthusiastic cohort of volunteers managed by an established and capable management team.

After steering Being There though the Pandemic and the recent economic impact on charities, our long serving CEO, Karen Mercer, is retiring. We are therefore looking to recruit a new leader for our team.

Main responsibilities for the Fundraising & Membership Officer

Fundraising

• Support the setting of the charity’s fundraising targets through the research and review of both external and internal fundraising activities.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of the charity’s fundraising activities and campaigns.
• Collate the agreed metrics (including income and expenditure) and report on a weekly basis.
• Participate fully in the generation of fundraising ideas and activity selection.
• Design, prepare and implement the agreed activities and campaigns, which are likely to be varied in nature and might include dedicated fundraising events, grant applications to support families in disadvantaged socio-economic groups, and legacy generation.
• Recommend changes and updates to the activities and campaigns based on testing and evidenced data.
• Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of fundraising activities and campaigns, including both income and impact.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with both new and existing individuals and organisations, such as member alumni and grant-making trusts and foundations.

Promoting the Charitable Aims of the Charity

• Design and coordinate an effective system to enhance the membership offer and improve membership renewal and retention.

REMAP is a unique national charity. It brings together two groups of people: volunteers skilled at making things and disabled people who need specialist equipment. Each year, around 3,000 pieces of custom-made equipment help transform the lives of disabled people.

As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. Building on what has already been done, you will work directly with the CEO and the Strategic Programme & Change Manager to help develop REMAP's operational structure and support its day-to-day operations.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and committed Business Development Manager to join our growing charity. Responsible for winning new business and retaining existing contracts to achieve financial and growth targets, this is a pivotal role at Kinship. If you are self-motivated, have experience of producing high quality, successful bids, can think strategically, and love to work collaboratively across teams, we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead on all commissioning activity at Kinship directly with commissioners and through tendering activity.

• Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids including writing technical questions and method statements.

• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Kinship, the external environment, and kinship carers and integrate this knowledge into business development activity and bid production.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience of successful bid production and bid management – from identification of opportunity through to submission. Track record in successful tendering for retention of contracts and new business.

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. Able to articulate and translate complex ideas and service delivery models into compelling, structured, and high-quality written propositions.

• Ability to analyse large volumes of information to develop clear and compelling bids and proposals.

About You:

Having worked in a third sector direct marketing role previously, you will have experience running effective national and regional campaigns using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. With your good organisational and time management skills you’ll be able to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities under pressure. 

You will have knowledge of usability testing, user research methods and conversion rate optimisation as well as an understanding of fundraising regulator guidance, gambling commission compliance and GDPR. 

About The Role

• Manage the delivery of all Retention campaigns from concept through to evaluation, using data and insight to drive creative and production, drawing up schedules, and managing the approval processes
• Work collaboratively with data teams to ensure effective use of supporter profiling for delivery across a range of Retention campaigns
• Manage relationships with external agencies including media houses, designers and printers; to negotiate costs and relevant performance reviews
• Responsibility for collation of all KPI tracking, trend analysis and activity results that feed into the team’s reporting and performance structure 
• Work alongside the Content team to research and develop strong cases for support to appeal to existing donors. To gather information, case studies and photos for use in all direct marketing campaigns. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters

• Lead on the planning and implementation of legacy and in mem fundraising portfolio, managing marketing campaigns from initial brief through to post campaign analysis. 
• Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with in mem supporters and legacy prospects in local communities, with the support of community fundraising managers and local volunteers – keeping these supporters at the heart of your work to to maintain and increase their support through excellent stewardship. 
• Prepare and administer correspondence and relevant paperwork and ensure maintenance for full and accurate database (D365/First Class) records, analysing financial and non-financial data to monitor and improve engagement and customer service performance.
• Proactively keep abreast of competitor activities, new initiatives and sector trends. 
• Effectively plan and execute legacy events around the country, with the aim of motivating supporters to consider leaving a gift in their Will.

The Ripple Pond is a charity that supports adult family members of physically and/or psychologically injured British Armed Forces personnel and veterans. Many of these individuals and family members are hard to reach and often isolated.

Your role will be to ensure that more and more of the military community, professionals and other interested parties know who we are and how to access our support.

You will also help to organise our exciting programme of online talks and activities for our Members (service-users) to help ensure they are well-informed, involved and feel part of a supportive community. Making sure that Members are always involved in generating ideas and production.

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and determined, but you also need to be invested in our mission as a charity and care about people.

This role is about;

• working with a wide range of groups and individuals to help raise awareness of the charity and to create opportunities to identify new Members (service users);

• being responsible for networking, identifying, and establishing partnerships with key individuals and organisations and nurturing existing relationships;

• developing and rolling out strategies to engage with hard-to-reach and isolated military carers and families;

• coordinating a range of activities (mainly online) to deliver information to Members, potential Members, referrers, and other stakeholders. These will include online talks from staff, Members and other “subject matter experts”; and

• helping to ensure the charity continues to understand the developing needs of its Members.

Although the role is home-based, you will not be working in isolation; you will be supported by the managers and workforce.

About CleanupUK  

We’re a small charity that brings communities together to create cleaner, connected and safer urban and rural neighbourhoods by tackling the litter problems where they live. Litter-picking brings people closer together, enables neighbours to meet one another other and helps create a greater sense of pride and community in local areas.

Historically, we have delivered litter-picking focussed community engagement projects in London and Birmingham. Our current focus is developing partnerships with community organisations across England to expand our reach and increase impact.

Main duties of the role 

• To provide a pro-active, high-quality administration and support service to the Operational Team, Chief Executive and the Corporate Partnerships team. 

Operational Team: Deals with logistics, processes and day to day functions of our work on the ground with community partners and volunteers. 

• To attend weekly team meetings 

• To assist in research into new areas of operation for the charity. 

• To oversee orders of equipment and printed resources to our partners with various suppliers around the country.

• To maintain meticulous records regarding our growing national Cleanup Hub network of community partners. 

• To collate statistics and create regular reports of programme activity, using our website and new database. 

• To provide help and advice to enquiries that come through our information email inbox. This could include; helping people access their profiles on our website or advising them as to how to get involved in community litter picking activity.

• To use Mail Chimp to send mailers to our partners and followers.

• To assist with setting up, maintaining and updating database information, Community Cleanup Hub registrations, profiles and filing systems, ensuring that data handling complies with GDPR requirements.
