The purpose of the role is to act as the principal financial officer for the Area, ensuring that all Area income and expenditure is properly managed and accounted for and is compliant with Ramblers’ policies and procedures.

The Treasurer is a key member of the Area leadership teams and contributes to decision-making across a wide range of issues relating to the Sussex Area of the Ramblers, the UK's largest and most vibrant walking community.

The main activities in the role are:

• Managing the Area Bank Account and processing expenses claims, obtaining the necessary authorisations

• Maintaining records of all transactions and producing accounts using the Ramblers’ spreadsheet-based system (Excel 97)

• Preparing Income and Expenditure Statements and Treasurer’s Reports for the Quarterly Area Executive Committee and Council Meetings and attending those meetings

• Leading the production and submission to Ramblers’ Central Office of the Area Budget and Annual Return, networking across the Group Treasurers to obtain the respective Group Budgets and Returns and resolve any issues

• Producing the Area Annual Financial Report and Accounts for approval at the AGM.

We are looking for a lively dynamic individual to promote the activities of Sussex Area Ramblers by regular communications with members and engaging with local media including producing press releases and responding to enquiries. 

The main purposes of the role are (1) to maintain regular communications with Sussex Area Ramblers’ members by producing articles for the Area Website and sending email communications to keep members up to date with Area activities, including developing a social media strategy and (2) to communicate (together where necessary with Ramblers' Central Office) with media in the Area, including by way of proactive press releases, and deal with media enquiries, to ensure that the activities and charitable role of the Sussex Area Ramblers are given a high profile

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers in the Crawley, Reigate and district area
• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

We have campaigns and projects relating to climate change mitigation, parks and green spaces, conservation and wildlife, tree planting, housing, transport, parking, clean rivers and the London Tree Ring  with a focus on bid writing and grant applications.

There are opportunities to work strategically, generating future funding for the charity as a whole, as well as rolling up your sleeves and getting involved with more specific activities and events. We are looking for volunteers who can spend time with our clients  in and around Central London.  Meetings are  regular over a period of 6 months; weekly or fortnightly.  Many volunteers stay involved for much longer but only because they enjoy what they do!

Your meetings could be in the local community, having chats in a coffee shop, visiting places of interest, or in our client’s home; all activities are risk assessed so what you do together will depend on the results of this, and / orour clients abilities and interests. Most of our clients are older 1st and 2nd generation Scots living in London who simply want to do the activities that most of us take for granted but have no-one to do them with.

ScotsCare works across London and beyond so we're looking for volunteers who live in the area or can travel to the following areas; Lambeth, Islington, Camden, central London and Broxbourne EN10. What are the key responsibilities of this role?

· Support the Chair in providing strategic leadership and overseeing Trustee meetings, stepping in as Chair when needed
