Could you use your social media, marketing and communications experience to raise the profile of a small charity? Help us to increase our social media presence and engagement, generate greatr content and help promote existing activities.

Our charity delivers a range of awareness campaigns and support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a poorly understood pain condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are looking for 2 experienced social media and communications volunteers who are able to develop posts and campaigns from design to inception, create fresh and engaging content, increase engagement and to increase awareness of the charity and of the condition we represent.

Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and would like to draw on your experience in the communications world to help the charity deliver engaging content and communications to help us spread our aims and message to all our audience.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Engagement: Help increase engagement, improve the number of followers/likes, create & execute a content calendar
• Content Creation: Produce fresh, branded and engaging content for our social media channels 
• Graphics: Prepare graphics and text for sharing across channels 
• Engage with our followers and encourage interaction 
• Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis
• Support charity campaigns, marketing, events and fundraising activities by promoting them on our social media feeds
• Use your creative skills to support strategies to engage, grow, and widen our target audiences
• Develop publicity materials and communication techniques for social media to raise awareness of our chronic condition 

You will be with a small team of volunteers who will provide an overview of our existing social media content, our brand and how we have approached our social media content to date. 

Experience
We are looking for a volunteer who has experience in:

• Different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
• Writing and editing marketing content for social media platforms including Facebook, X, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (especially TikTok, Instagram Reels & posts and YouTube)
• Building strategies to increase social media following and /or build fundraising or awareness campaigns
• Developing a coherent brand voice for social media, from content creation to community interactions
• Using and setting up tools such as Buffer, Canva etc
• Creating and executing content calendars to help plan social media activity 

Skills Required

• Excellent written communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail 
• Creative writing and design abilities
• Good computer and digital skills
• Enthusiasm for communications and marketing and willingness to learn
• Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team / organisation / users

This is a remote volunteering role, volunteering from your own home.

We are looking for someone who shares our values to join us as a Trustee and Manager of our Bursary Programme, funding music lessons for children and young people in Surrey who would not otherwise be able to afford them.

Specific Tasks

• To ensure smooth running of the bursary applications process for recipients, delivery partners and the bursary administrator
• To oversee applications where required, approving invoices and tracking budgets
• To monitor and refine the bursaries criteria and process to ensure the Trust is targeting bursaries effectively
• To work with the Bursary Administrator to assist with individual applications, refer approvals to the board where required, check and approve invoices
• To work with the Treasurer to monitor and report spend against budget
• To work with the Music Education Trustee to ensure that the criteria and process for CKTs bursaries maximises CKT’s impact
• To work with the marketing and communications manager to provide details of bursary recipients for newsletters
• To work with the CKT board and delivery partners (Surrey Arts and other music lesson providers) to identify and implement any process changes
• To work with other partner organisations (Future Talent, AYM) to agree and monitor bursaries offered
• To attend and contribute to board meetings
• To perform such other tasks and activities for CKT as skills and time allow

Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Do you have professional expertise you could use to help a good cause? Are you passionate about animal welfare? Trustees manage the affairs of our local RSPCA Branch to promote and provide animal welfare within the branch area. 

We are the Surrey East Branch of the RSPCA, and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. 

Main activities: 

• To be familiar with and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA. 

• To be familiar with our branch rules and follow them at all times. 

• To work with your fellow trustees and branch officers to jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of our branch and the RSPCA. 

• To ensure the branch meets all the minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS). Where they are not met, work with national RSPCA staff to meet the standard as soon as practicable. 

• In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch support specialist (BSS), to write, adopt, monitor and review a branch development plan setting out the short and long-term aims of our branch. 

• To actively participate in branch committee meetings and attend the branch annual general meeting, and regional conference. 

• To be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support regional initiatives. 

• To attend the trustee training course. 

• To actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers. 

• To welcome new trustees and volunteers to the branch. 

About the RSPCA

We’re proud to be the oldest welfare charity in existence

• We were the first to introduce a law to protect animals and we work hard to ensure that all animals can live a life free from pain and suffering. 

• Through our campaigns we raise standards of care and awareness of issues for the animals who have no voice. We push for laws to be changed, improving the welfare of animals on farms, in research labs, in the wild, in paddocks or in our homes. 

• Through investigations and prosecutions, we stand up to those who deliberately harm animals to send out a clear message - we will not tolerate animal abuse. 

• Our highly trained officers tackle neglect and cruelty at every level and are working hard to stamp out large-scale serious, organised and commercial animal cruelty.

What are we looking for? 

• Most people aged 18 or over are eligible to become a trustee. You will need to become a member of the RSPCA. Good interpersonal skills are important. You do not need to be an expert, although commitment, common sense and the ability to be objective is vital. 

• Specific skills such as finance, fundraising, project management, business experience, and awareness of employment and/or charity legislation can be useful, but not essential. 

• Trustees must sign a Trustee Declaration of Willingness to Act to clarify that they are not disqualified from being a trustee and that they accept the post. 

• In addition to our standard declaration of willingness, trustees also need to complete a declaration from the Charity Commission and read their guidance for individuals on who can’t be a trustee or senior manager of a charity.

Role Summary

How this role fits into the vision and objectives of Causeway

Our trustees bring strategic oversight and direction; to ensure Causeway is true to its purpose and effective in its strategic objectives, whilst ensuring all governance responsibilities are fulfilled. They champion the people we support, promote the charity and its work and bring expertise to purposefully develop Causeway and its impact.

The role of Treasurer brings to our Board Financial acumen, experience and understanding of charity finance and will be a supportive sounding Board for the Senior Executive team in relation to Strategic Financial planning.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an outstanding new Treasurer who shares our values and brings energy, expertise and a strategic mindset. We are particularly looking for our Treasurer to have:

· A relevant accounting qualification.

· Experience of charity accounting and relevant accounting standards.

· Ability to maintain overview of the financial affairs of the charity, ensuring its viability and proper financial records and procedures.

· A confident networker who will bring relevant connections and facilitate introductions for the benefit the charity.

The role of the Trustee

The Charities Act 1993 defines charity trustees as those responsible under the charity’s governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity.

Our board of trustees have shared responsibility for the overall governance, financial health and strategic direction of the charity, developing its organisational aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

In addition to the statutory duties, each Trustee uses their specific skills, knowledge and experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions and support the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team in delivering the charity’s mission.

Job Description

Role Title: Treasurer and Chair of Finance, Audit and Risk Committee

Responsibilities

The role of the Board of Trustees is to receive assets from our partners and donors, safeguard them and apply them to the charitable purposes of Causeway. The trustee board must always act in the best interests of the charity, exercising the same standard of duty of care that a prudent person would apply if looking after the affairs of someone for whom they have responsibility.

Specific responsibilities as Treasurer and Chair of FAR

· To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document and its own financial rules, charity law, company law, and other relevant legislation or regulations.

· To ensure that adequate financial procedures and controls are in place and that the organisation operates within a sound financial framework.

· To advise the Trustees on the financial implications of their strategy and policy objectives, and ensure appropriate financial risk management and reserves policies are in place.

· To lead the creation and chairing of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee on behalf of the Board of Trustees, and to attend the Remuneration Committee.

· In association with the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Finance, to ensure that all financial dealings are properly accounted for, including grants and restricted funds.

· To lead the production of an annual budget, propose its adoption to the Board, and monitor performance against the budget with support from the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Finance.

· To liaise with the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Finance to ensure timely, comprehensive and accurate financial information is provided to the Trustees (e.g. balance sheet, cash flow, bank balances, fundraising performance, reserves reporting).

· To discuss the auditor's report and annual accounts with Trustees at the Annual General Meeting and manage the process of appointing auditors.

To be involved in closely managing the organisation’s investments, and provide tax and investment advice where necessary, with attention to pensions provision.

The legal responsibilities of a trustee are to: 

· Ensure that Causeway complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

· Ensure that Causeway pursues its objects as defined in its governing document

· Ensure Causeway applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects

· Contribute actively to the board of trustees by providing strategic direction, setting overall policy, and defining goals and targets

· Ensure the financial stability of Causeway

· Safeguard the good name of Causeway, scrutinise board papers and other key communications

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee will use their specialist skills, knowledge and experience to identify key issues, provide advice and guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership team, and help improve the decision making of the Board.

· Our trustees will seek to promote Causeway, drawing upon their strategic contacts and networks and supporting fundraising efforts in order to maximise the charity’s impact and brand.

Trustee Criteria (skills and expertise)

Each trustee must be:

· Support and provide advice on Causeway’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.

· Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

· Oversee Causeway’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.

· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

· Ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and controlled effectively.

· Review and approve Causeway’s financial statements.

· Provide support and challenge to the CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.

· Keep abreast of changes in the landscape that Causeway operates in

· Contribute to regular reviews of Causeway’s governance.

· Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.

· Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Causeway’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.

· Contribute to the broader promotion of Causeway’s objectives, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and networks.
 

Person Specification

· Enthusiasm for Causeway’s vision and mission.

· A recognised financial and/or accounting qualification would be highly beneficial but is not a prerequisite.

Minimum Time Commitment

Location

Causeway board meetings are held in person and online.

Hours/time-commitment

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

The overall time commitment for the Treasurer is expected to be around 1-2 days per month.

There are four full board meetings a year that last approx. 2 hours, outside regular office hours.

There will be a quarterly commitment to the FAR committee once established.

Papers for meetings are distributed 10 working days (plus a weekend) in advance of meetings.

As part of induction, trustees are expected to read relevant policies and complete induction training, which includes an introduction to our services, safeguarding, information governance, and EDI.

We're a not for profit Community Energy organisation operating in Southwark and Lambeth and has been established by members of the South London community to relieve fuel poverty by providing renewable energy locally. We have been set up as a Community Benefit Society, which means we are a business managed for the benefit of the community. It’s is run by its shareholders, and shareholding is open to everyone.

We were established in 2023 and received grants from four funds (Government, Mayor of London, Southwark Council, Centrica Energy for Tomorrow) and a fuel poverty alleviation contract from Uk Power Networks (Leaving No One Behind) in 2024 to set up our pilot projects. We have two part time paid managers running the fuel poverty activity and the overall programme.

Our pilot projects include a fuel poverty service delivering energy advice and support for those in need and we currently have five trained energy champions who work with us part-time. We are also running feasibility studies for four solar arrays on housing estates and we’re exploring different possible business models. If we can make this work then we will be setting a precedent for a model for renewables on mixed tenure estates and long term financial sustainable fuel poverty alleviation.

At this exciting and pivotal time at the beginning of our journey we are looking for a Treasurer to support our organisation by overseeing the financial affairs.

The Role

The Treasurer will be overseeing the work of Martin, our dedicated Lead Finance Volunteer, who is an accountant working in Government and has been supporting our work for several months. We estimate that the treasurer role will require an average of less than one day a month, including attendance at six board meetings a year and weekly half hour meetings as necessary to be a mentor to Martin. We hold board meetings every other month on Tuesdays 1-2.30pm. The majority of these are held online with occasional in person meetings in Southwark. The Treasurer will also be responsible for holding a general oversight of financial activities and ensuring that we are keeping in line with our financial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial matters to ensure that the organisation is compliant with regulations and good practice
• Support the finance team and other members of the board to ensure that effective financial procedures are in place
• Support the team in maintaining accurate financial records and oversee the year-end and funders financial reporting processes
• Advise on finance related initiatives that could benefit the society and input to strategy
• Support the creation of financial prospectuses for community share offers

Essential Qualities, Skills and Experience

• Chartered accountant with at least three years experience
• Understanding of financial management in organisations
• Ability to communicate financial information in a clear and effective manner
• Interest in renewables, sustainability and Community Energy
• Willingness and ability to work as part of a team and build good relationships
• Willingness to mentor our Lead Finance Volunteer

Desirable Qualities, Skills and Experience

• Experience of Community Energy and/or the renewable energy sector
• Knowledge of social enterprise structures
• Experience of being on the board of a not for profit organisation
• Being a resident of or having a connection to South London

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our Medway and Swale Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.

We are seeking an experienced Events & Community Fundraising Officer (Volunteer) to join our Fundraising team on an unpaid, volunteer basis. This will be remote support, unpaid volunteering on average 8 hours or 1 day per week to drive funding for our International WASH projects.

EQUAL AQUA is an award-winning NGO providing equal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Uganda. Equal Aqua is managed by an international team of 30+ volunteers, based mainly in the UK and Uganda, but spanning over 10 countries.We are looking to expand and diversify our team of volunteers – seeking candidates with knowledge and skills in various fields, and a deep passion for our cause. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Join our team as a Volunteer Events & Community Fundraising Officer, working alongside the Fundraising Manager to develop and expand our community engagement and events portfolio. Play a pivotal role in creating innovative fundraising products, fostering relationships within our local communities, and supporting key fundraising initiatives to drive income growth and supporter engagement. 

ROLE & RESPONSBILITIES  

• Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to design and implement community and events strategies, including the development of new fundraising products and campaigns. 

• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, corporate partners, and individual fundraisers to generate new income streams. 

• Develop engaging supporter journeys to inspire memorable experiences, encourage repeat contributions, and deepen supporter loyalty. 

• Support the team in planning and delivering special events, including the annual fundraiser concert, Water Wheel, and other high-profile fundraising activities. 

• Secure new corporate partnerships through sponsorships, Charity of the Year and other award programs, and collaborative fundraising initiatives. 

• Lead and coordinate supporter-led fundraising activities, fostering volunteer involvement and building a vibrant, diverse supporter community aligned with our mission. 

• Assist with planning, promotion, and execution of both EA-organized and third-party fundraising events. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

ESSENTIAL 

Experience: 

• Demonstrated success in achieving or surpassing fundraising or sales targets within the charity, nonprofit, or commercial sectors. 

• Proven experience working in supporter-focused environments. 

• Solid project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. 

• Experience working within high-performing teams, including remote working arrangements. 

Skills: 

• Excellent networking and relationship management capabilities. 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. 

• Proficiency in IT tools such as Windows, MS Office, and fundraising databases, particularly Raiser’s Edge (or similar). 

• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills.
