Coempowered is a small but rapidly developing non-profit working to empower indiviuals and help build community capacity among for young people, women, and marginalised communities in the UK and internationally through workshops, classes, semiar, projects and research. In addition to a charity Trustee’s statutory duties, the Finance Trustee (or Treasurer) plays a vital role in overseeing the financial affairs of the charity, ensuring its financial viability during a potential growth period, and making sure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The Treasurer provides strategic financial guidance to the board and ensures compliance with relevant financial legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Oversight and Reporting:

• Oversee the charity’s financial activities, ensuring they align with its mission and objectives.
• Provide regular financial reports to the board of trustees, highlighting key issues, trends, and risks. These include monthly management accounts and updated forecasts.
• Manage the cash flow of the charity by ensuring that receipts and payments are collected and paid in a timely manner.
• Monitor the financial performance and position of the charity, ensuring sustainability and sound management of resources

2. Budgeting and Strategic Planning:

• Lead the finance committee and provide regular updates.
• Manage the development of the annual budget in conjunction with the finance committee.

• Ensure that financial resources are aligned with the charity's strategic priorities.

3. Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including the Charity Commission requirements and UK financial legislation.
• Ensure that proper accounting records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place.
• Liaise with external auditors, managing the annual audit process and ensuring timely submission of annual accounts and reports.

4. Risk Management:

• Identify and manage financial risks, providing the board with clear advice on risk mitigation strategies.
• Oversee the charity’s investments and reserves policy, ensuring prudent management of funds.

5. Supporting the Board:

• Act as the main point of contact for financial matters, providing guidance and support to fellow trustees.
• Work closely with other trustees to ensure that the board is fully informed of the charity’s financial status and has the necessary information to make sound decisions.
• Contribute to the board’s overall decision-making process, offering a financial perspective on strategic matters.

6. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Liaise with key stakeholders, including funders, regulatory bodies, trustees and volunteers on financial matters.

• Provide input to fundraisers for fundraising tenders.
• Represent the charity in financial negotiations and discussions as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:

• A recognised financial qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.

Experience:

• Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the charity sector.
• Experience of charity finance, fundraising, and pension schemes is advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge:

TIME COMMITMENT

• Standard terms of Board Trustees are a period of three (3) years. Board members can usually be re-elected for a period of another three (3) years thereafter, for one (1) further term
• ADHD Aware Board Trustees will regularly attend Board meetings and/or send apologies with sufficient warning (no less than two days ahead of meeting)
• All Board members are also expected to respond within two (2) weeks to a request for review of information and comment by any other member of the Board
• If a Board member misses more than three (3) consecutive meetings, it may be appropriate to ask that Board member to resign or take a leave of absence
• Trustees will provide a minimum three (3) month notice period if they choose to step down LOCATION Please note: this role can be carried out largely remotely (via Teams or Zoom). Very occasionally, the Board may gather or take meetings at its main headquarters location in Brighton, East Sussex.

About The Role 

The Safeguarding Officer will work with the People Team Lead and the Trustee Board in ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place for keeping students, volunteers and team members safe at Roots Academy.

You will promote the safety and welfare of young people involved in Roots Academy’s activities at all times.

Key tasks

• Support with developing, reviewing and implementing Roots Academy’s safeguarding policies and procedures: ensuring all safeguarding issues concerning students and volunteers who take part in Roots Academy’s activities are responded to appropriately.
• Make sure that everyone working or volunteering at Roots Academy, including the board of trustees, understands the safeguarding policy and procedures and knows what to do if they have concerns about a student or volunteer’s welfare.
• Develop and deliver safeguarding training.
• Make sure students and young people who are involved in activities at Roots Academy know who they can talk to if they have a welfare concern and understand what action the organisation will take in response.
• Receive and record information from anyone who has concerns about a student or volunteer who takes part in Roots Academy’s activities.
• Responding to information that may constitute a safeguarding concern, including a concern that an adult involved with Roots Academy may present a risk to children or young people. This includes:

a. assessing and clarifying the information

b. making referrals to statutory organisations as appropriate

c. consulting with and informing the relevant members of the organisation’s management

d. following the organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

• Liaise with, pass on information to and receive information from statutory agencies such as the police. This includes making formal referrals to agencies when necessary.
• Store and retain safeguarding records according to legal requirements and the organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
• Work closely with the board of trustees the People Team Lead to ensure they are kept up to date with safeguarding issues and are fully informed of any concerns about organisational safeguarding practice.
• Report regularly to the board of trustees on issues relating to safeguarding, to ensure that safeguarding is seen as an ongoing priority issue and that safeguarding requirements are being followed at all levels of the organisation.

• The Safeguarding Officer must have received relevant safeguarding training
• Experience as a qualified social worker or safeguarding lead desirable

Jumble Sales Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to raise funds, have fun and join a super team of volunteers who together make our Jumble Sales in Thatcham a great success?  As Jumble Sales Organiser you would be helping to make everything run smoothly for the team.

Time Expectations:  1 Saturday every other month (plus preparations)

This could be a shared role and tasks may include:

· Booking the hall for future Jumbles

· Contacting the Jumble team before events to check availability

· Set up stalls, running a stall and packing away at the end

· Collecting any items/resources needed from the centre the day before

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Governance 

Our Board is the ultimate governance body for the charity, serving as stewards of its resources, and ultimately responsible for our strategy, operations and financial management. Our board ensures we comply with our governing document, charity law and pursue our objectives. They are responsible for providing support, guidance and decisions to the CWB team, ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation. 

Trustees are elected for a 2-year term but with the opportunity to be re-elected. 

Trustee Responsibilities 

Strategy and Governance 

• Actively contribute to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the charity, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets 
• Supporting high standards of governance and risk management 
• Ensuring the organisation is accountable and transparent in its activities 
• Ensuring compliance with relevant charitable and company legislation 
• Safeguarding the interests of Clowns Without Borders’s beneficiaries 

Advocacy 

• Acting as an ambassador for Clowns Without Borders
• Overseeing, and presenting budgets, accounts, and financial statements to the board 

Treasurer’s Responsibilities 

Overseeing the financial matters of the charity 

Ensuring proper accounts and records are kept 

Develop and/or review and implement financial and reserves policies 

• Be a point of contact and lead on issues relating to financial matters of the charity 

o Implementing and monitoring financial controls and ensuring relevant systems are in place 

o Liaising with charity’s director to ensure annual accounts are compliant with Charity Commission guidelines when necessary 

o Liaising with the charity’s independent examiner where appropriate. 

• Drive financial strategy and planning 

o Lead financial discussions with the board team 

o Present strategic options for future financial planning 

o Set up models to help other directors/trustees evaluate financial position and planning 

Expertise 

• Qualified UK Chartered Accountant 
• Knowledge and experience of current financial practices relevant to small charities 
• Strong financial management and strategic experience 
• Good financial analysis skills. 
• Ability to communicate clearly

Remuneration 

The position of Trustee is unpaid. However, all reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred will be reimbursed in line with our Expenses Policy. 

ROLDA UK is a registerd charity that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes stray dogs and cats in both Romania and the Ukraine.

As a Champion for ROLDA, you will play a crucial role in driving our online and in-person fundraising efforts. This position is ideal for a passionate individual dedicated to animal welfare who wants to help make a tangible difference towards our rescue efforts. In tandem with the ROLDA team, you will lead initiatives, develop strategies, and inspire supporters to contribute to ROLDA’s mission, amplifying our impact.

Key Responsibilities:
● Fundraising Strategy Development: Collaborate with ROLDA’s leadership to create and implement innovative online         and in-person fundraising campaigns.
● Campaign Management: Coordinate and execute engaging, high-impact fundraising campaigns, such as peer-to-peer       fundraisers, social media drives, and seasonal events.
● Event Leadership: Organise and attend fundraising events, representing ROLDA in the community. Recruit and manage     a team of event volunteers when necessary.
● Donor Engagement: Foster relationships with existing and potential donors, recognise and thank contributors, and               cultivate new support channels.
● Social Media Outreach: Collaborate with the social media team to create content that promotes fundraising efforts and       highlights donor stories and campaign updates.
● Reporting and Goal Setting: Set and track fundraising goals, prepare reports to measure progress, and share                     outcomes with the team to enhance future initiatives.

Requirements:
● Previous experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or community engagement (experience in nonprofit organisations is a plus)
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to connect with a diverse audience
● Self-motivated and able to work independently, managing multiple projects and deadlines
● Availability to attend periodic in-person events
● Passionate about animal welfare and committed to ROLDA’s mission
● Ability to pass a background check

Time Commitment:
● Flexible hours, with a minimum commitment of 5 hours per week
● Availability for occasional in-person events in your area
