About The Role

We’re WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife. We’re on a mission to restore wetlands because they are a wondrous solution to our world's problems. Together we will unlock their power – and help nature burst back to life. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish. We lead the way, bring life and inspire connection. 

Volunteers are integral to the running of our Welney centre and without their help we wouldn’t be able to welcome our visitors to this amazing wetland. Your role will be helping to bring people of all ages and backgrounds closer to wetland wildlife, by providing assistance to visitors and encouraging them to explore the site and learn about WWT’s pioneering wetland conservation work, to save wetlands for wildlife and people. You’ll support the delivery of excellent customer service for the retail and membership team, inspiring people to support us as members of the WWT, and be a warm and welcoming face for our cause.

We are looking for volunteers who can ideally give one day a week, exact hours to be agreed. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

This role will suit you if you have a positive, friendly, can-do attitude, and are committed to delivering excellent customer service. Having, or being happy to develop, the confidence to engage our visitors of all ages simply and effectively around their needs is also an essential part of this role, being a good communicator in English (other languages are also useful!).

You’ll have a real interest in and enthusiasm for WWT’s work, nature and the outdoors and will be happy to develop this to share with others in a variety of ways: promoting membership; attending briefing sessions and familiarising yourself with events, activities, sightings and developments at the centre; and on a day-to-day basis, answering visitor questions, helping them to navigate what’s on offer. Welney has a close-working team, and much of the time you will be working in a group, however, the ability to work under your own initiative and being self-motivated at other times is also needed.

Time commitment? We are looking for volunteers who can ideally commit to one day across the week. Shifts are negotiable, with suitable breaks. After completing training and an induction for this role, we ask volunteers to spend a minimum of 6 months volunteering with WWT Welney. 

You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and other information you need. This will include risk assessments based on your role and any particular support you need. Volunteers receive access to our sites, and discounts in our shops and cafes. Some roles include a uniform or require the use of equipment or protective clothing. If you are based at a particular site or office location, you’ll need to be able to get yourself there and back. Information on locations can be found on our website. We will keep you up to date with what’s happening across WWT and the difference you will be helping to make happen.

Join our amazing volunteer team in this flexible opportunity that puts you at the heart of our work supporting blind and partially sighted people. You’ll make taking part in events and carrying out volunteering easier and more enjoyable for our customers and volunteers with sight loss.
You’ll take some of the stress and anxiety out of getting around and taking part in activities as a blind or partially sighted person. The help you give will encourage people to do more.

What you’ll be doing
• Sighted guiding / giving practical help to individuals in and around venues, so they can take part in events.
• Supporting volunteers with sight loss with their volunteering activities which range from facilitating a regular community group to delivering a talk about sight loss to a local business. Your role would involve things like guiding; Meeting and greeting at group activities or creating a welcoming and interesting display stand at events.

In this role you will only be helping individuals in places open to the public, often in a group setting. We will provide training in sighted guiding techniques and understanding sight loss.

The VP's role is to aid the president with all of their responsibilities in overseeing the chapter. VP might help run the chapter and become responsible for some activities. Helping to coordinate their committee to ensure that all of the needs of the charity are met and the law, constitution and handbook are not broken.

Expedition medical teams are devised for each of our expeditions on a thorough assessment of medical requirements, considering a range of factors including but not limited to the environment, client group and access to local facilities/services. Our medical teams consist of fully qualified medical professionals and may include doctors and other healthcare professionals, such as nurses or paramedic, with appropriate specialist experience. Our expeditions include both Senior and standard medics.

The IWI Conference Planner will be responsible for the full lifecycle of an event, from strategic planning and budgeting to on-site logistics and post-event evaluation, ensuring the event aligns with The IWI's mission and goals. Key duties include venue and vendor selection, budget management, marketing and attendee registration, speaker and sponsor coordination, managing event staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and reporting on event success to leadership. This role requires strong project management, budget management, communication, and negotiation skills to deliver a high-quality experience within financial constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Strategy & Planning:

Collaborate with stakeholders to define event goals, themes, and target audiences, and develop comprehensive plans and timelines.

Budget Management:

Create and manage event budgets, identifying cost-effective solutions, securing sponsorships, and tracking expenditures to meet financial objectives.

Logistics & Operations:

Oversee all logistical aspects, including venue selection, vendor management (catering, AV, decor), and event setup and breakdown.

Role Description: We are seeking a passionate and creative Volunteer Marketer to help promote our initiatives, increase visibility, and engage our target audience. As a remote marketer, you will play a vital role in developing and executing marketing strategies that strengthen our presence online and offline. Every day, neurodivergent people in the legal profession face misunderstanding, outdated assumptions, and well-meaning but misguided "support." We're building something different - a charity that gets the science right, speaks with authority, and creates change based on evidence rather than good intentions.

We need someone who understands what neurodiversity really is - professionally, academically, maybe personally, to be our compass and our credibility.

What we're looking for

We need a neurodiversity specialist who can be our knowledge foundation - someone whose expertise ensures everything we do is grounded in current understanding and best practice.

Your background might include:

• Professional expertise in neurodivergence through psychology, neuroscience, education, occupational therapy, or related fields

• Deep knowledge of current research and evidence base around neurodivergence

• Understanding of the real challenges neurodivergent people face in professional environments

• The ability to translate complex concepts into language that lawyers (and everyone else) can understand

• Genuine commitment to making the legal profession work better for neurodivergent people

What would be brilliant (but not essential):

• Hands-on experience working with or advocating for neurodivergent individuals

• Academic qualifications or research experience in relevant areas

• Knowledge of workplace adjustments and inclusive employment practices

• Understanding of career progression challenges in professional settings

• Experience in education, training, or public awareness work

• Personal lived experience of neurodivergence (valued but not required)

The need-to-know

Time commitment: Around 4-8 hours per month - one monthly trustee meeting plus the specialist input that makes the difference, and the occasional extra task that crops up.

When we meet: We will be setting our meeting dates at the start of the organisation's year (October 2025) so everyone can plan ahead.
