This role provides proactive administrative support to the Bishop of Ripon. The Bishop's PA represents the Bishop's Office and is often the first point of contact.
The postholder will manage the Bishop's Office and ensure that work for the Bishop of Ripon is completed to a high standard. Much of the work is highly confidential, so the postholder must be able to deal with this discreetly and sensitively. The PA is a vital part of the local Ripon Area team but must be able to work independently and use initiative as necessary. Commitment to supporting the Bishop's ministry is essential, and a good understanding of the Christian Faith and Anglican worship is helpful.
Daily tasks will include prioritising mail and messages, organising the Bishop's diary, drafting replies and/or briefing papers as appropriate, producing communication and paperwork around the Bishop's appointments (including church visits and clergy meetings) promptly, attending and arranging events and meetings and in general ensuring that the Bishop is properly resourced and supported in his/her work. As well as overseeing the Ripon Episcopal Area, the Bishop has some diocesan responsibilities, which necessitate travel around the Diocese, and national responsibilities which include travel to London and elsewhere in the country. The planning of the Bishop's diary will reflect the travel involved.
The PA will have key working relationships with other senior staff in the Diocese and particularly those in the Ripon Area. The PA will work closely with the Archdeacon of Richmond and Craven and their PA. The postholder will also be in frequent contact with the Area and Assistant Area Deans and other Area Officers. As the Bishop is often out of the office, the post-holder should be a self-starter and capable of using their initiative with regard to planning and managing their workload.
There may be the possibility of some home-working - details to be discussed with the post holder.
Principal Duties
- Manage the Bishop's diary, appointments, travel and event logistics
- Plan the annual meeting cycle for various committees and individuals
- Manage the approval system for Lay Eucharistic Ministers, including the renewals every five years.
- Anticipate and act proactively on information that comes into the office (via email, phone or letter) particularly where this relates to diary and deadline matters.
- Ensure that appropriate matters are brought to the attention of the Bishop
- Arrange Confirmations, Licensings and other church services and handle related administration.
- Manage annual review appointments (MDRs) for clergy, ensuring that the necessary paperwork is issued and received within appropriate timeframes.
- Manage the 'New in Post' system alongside the Archdeacon's PA
- Administer the clergy appointments process within the Ripon Area, working closely with the Archdeacon, the Archdeacon's PA, Patrons and parish representatives. Ensure that all legal requirements are met.
- Managing meetings for PTO applications.
- Prepare materials for meetings; to occasionally attend and take minutes.
- Oversee the Bishop's expenses and local budget, ensuring that accurate records are kept and returned to the Bishop of Leeds Financial Officer monthly.
- Organise and maintain general and confidential filing systems, including clergy files.
- Manage the Bishop's Office, including ordering stationery, dealing with phone systems, etc
Other duties
- Represent the Bishop's Office with professionalism, discretion and pastoral sensitivity.
- Welcome visitors to the Bishop's Office, ensuring that they are dealt with in a polite and courteous manner.
- Assist in providing refreshments when necessary
- Attend meetings and other events (outside the office) as agreed with the Bishop
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times, ensuring that all confidential material is properly managed and stored.
- Undertake any training as required and be willing to understand GDPR and Safeguarding practices.
- To support the Bishop in developing a social media presence
Essential
Experience, knowledge and skills:
- Experience of working in an administrative capacity in an office environment
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including good telephone skills
- Excellent organisational skills and good attention to detail.
- Proficient IT skills, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Outlook) and the ability to use databases to search and record work

We are looking for 3 people to join the St Mungo’s Rough Sleeping Service as Housing Led Workers on fixed term contracts until March 2027. (2x Full Time, and 1 Part time).
The team will work in partnership with the Oxford Rough Sleeping Service, and in partnership with local partner agencies to provide long term tenancy sustainment support to clients experiencing homelessness. Our aim is to support people to access suitable accommodation; and move-on with the right support in place.
In the role of Housing Led Worker you will work as part of a team to oversee the day-to-day delivery of the service. Managing a caseload of around 15-20 clients you will:
- Provide personalised, flexible support that helps clients access the right services for their mental and physical health, substance use, community engagement, learning, training, and employment.
- Deliver intensive, ongoing support to help clients establish their home, sustain their tenancy, and work towards their personal goals and aspirations.
- Work in partnership with clients, using a creative and strengths-based approach to help people manage tenancy, build independence, and rebuild their lives in the community.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
- We will provide support and supervision to help you work independently and comfortably as a lone worker to support clients and effectively manage your own caseload.

The Active Ageing Coordinator will run BIAS’s very popular twice-weekly active ageing lunch clubs in Dollis Hill and Cricklewood, which attract over 50 attendees per session, working with a team of volunteers to coordinate activities including Irish music, dancing and bingo. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic person who is happy to take a hands-on approach to the development and delivery of our active ageing project. You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to proactively build positive relationships with volunteers and service users, along with excellent organisational abilities.
The project (funded by the Irish Government’s Emigrant Support Programme) will also involve delivering occasional special events for club members, such as St Patrick’s Day and Christmas celebrations and health and wellbeing days. You will need a strong capacity to build relationships and partnerships with other organisations and community groups in the borough, and a willingness to work with the leadership team on the marketing and development of the clubs, including via social media.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take the lead on the day-to-day running of BIAS’s two active ageing clubs in Brent, ensuring that they are welcoming, accessible and available to all.
- Carry out administrative tasks necessary for the successful running of the clubs, including shopping for club supplies, preparing refreshments, setting up music, organising entertainment and banking attendance fees, working within agreed budgets.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all club members during club sessions, and manage communication and additional engagement with members outside of club sessions.
- Record and maintain member and attendance information in BIAS’s client management system.
- Where needed and possible, provide support to BIAS’s Active Ageing Coordinator in Haringey borough, and cooperate on joint club initiatives.
- Working in close cooperation with BIAS’s Volunteer Manager, encourage volunteer recruitment and retention and supervise volunteers during club sessions, ensuring that they have a safe working environment and a positive, fulfilling volunteering experience.
- Contribute to the promotion of the active ageing clubs in the local community, help create content and manage community interactions on BIAS’s social media accounts, and represent BIAS at occasional community events.
- Organise an annual summer outing for club members, and work closely with the leadership team on the organisation of a Christmas event for the wider BIAS community.
- Plan annual Health and Wellbeing Days in cooperation with local health networks, and work with the management team to identify other possible initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of active ageing club members.
- Develop and maintain good relations with other cultural organisations and community groups in Brent, with the aim of promoting cooperation and cross-cultural exchanges.
- Work with the management team to identify opportunities for expansion of the active ageing project and ways to increase community engagement with BIAS.
- Attend regular supervision sessions with the Head of Operations, and be willing to undertake training and professional development as needed.
These are the basic duties required of the Active Ageing Coordinator. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and you may be required from time to time to perform other reasonable duties which are required for the efficient running of the organisation. We will also offer training opportunities to support your career development.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. This post will require travel to club venues and transport of club supplies, so access to a car is required.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Start Network has an exciting opening for an Events Support Officer. This a great opportunity for a motivated person who has experience in event organisation and wishes to further their career in a friendly and dynamic environment. The successful candidate must be available to start in March 2026.
Working with different teams in Start Network, the successful candidate will have a key role in helping to deliver flagship events such as the Annual Assembly which will take place overseas in October. The Events Support Officer will provide administrative and logistical support to events teams for their respective events and be comfortable working in a matrix management arrangement.
This job is varied and fast-paced a lot of the time and will include duties ranging from dealing with venues to booking flights and arranging catering. In addition, the Events Support Officer will, from time to time, undertake administrative duties related to staff travel and other needs that may arise within the Operations team.
The Events Support Officer may have to work evenings and weekends on occasion and must be prepared to travel within the UK and abroad at required times.
