Fundraising Assistant

Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT) is looking for an organised, enthusiastic Fundraising Assistant to join our friendly team. This is an entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience across trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, individual giving and major giving. You do not need previous professional fundraising experience: we’re looking for strong organisation and communication skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

GCT is the only UK registered charity focused exclusively on the conservation and sustainable development of the Galapagos Islands. For more than 30 years, we have worked with local communities, NGOs, authorities and researchers to protect the Islands’ unique wildlife and support sustainable livelihoods. Our 2026–2028 strategy focuses on ocean protection and restoring islands.

About the role

You will provide practical support across our Fundraising team, helping colleagues raise the money needed to protect Galapagos and ensuring our supporters receive thoughtful, timely communications.

Your work will include:

• Maintaining accurate supporter and donation records on our database and helping improve our fundraising systems.

• Processing and acknowledging donations, preparing thank-you communications and responding to supporter enquiries.

• Researching potential funders and supporting the preparation of applications, proposals and donor reports.

• Helping deliver fundraising campaigns, mailings and corporate partnership activity.

• Preparing meeting materials, briefing notes and supporter communications.

• Supporting fundraising events through invitations, attendee lists, materials and follow-up.

You will report to our Trusts and Grants Manager and work with colleagues across all four income streams.

About you

You will be comfortable organising tasks, keeping track of details and meeting deadlines. You will bring good written and verbal communication skills, confidence using Microsoft Office or similar software, and a careful approach to working with information and numbers.

We welcome experience gained through employment, education, volunteering or other activities. Above all, you will be a helpful, proactive team player who is keen to learn and interested in our conservation mission.

Experience with databases, charities, customer service or events would be useful, as would Spanish language skills, but none is essential.

Key details

• Salary: £28,000 per annum.

• Contract: Fixed term for 12 months.

• Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with occasional evening events.

• Location: Central London office, with hybrid working and a minimum of two days per week in the office.
