Job description

We're pushing for better, right here, right now. Every one of us has a crucial role to play as both drivers and enablers of change.

Parkinson’s UK is the UK’s leading charity for people with Parkinson’s. We're a growing organisation with 605 employees, 4000 volunteers and a projected income of £50m+. Our proud history dates back nearly 60 years, but now we’re on a mission to be fit for the future, ensuring we have the infrastructure, culture, and operating model to drive even more impact for people with Parkinson’s, both now and in the future.

The Operations team plays a key role in driving that mission. Over the coming years we’ll be modernising our systems and processes to ensure they’re fit for now, as well as in the future. Much of this work is already underway, and we’re now ready to start our exciting new chapter.

We’ve been working to get ourselves in the best shape to deliver that progress over the next few years, and we’re now looking for ambitious, driven, and purpose-led people to join our team of ‘relentless doers’. To hear more about these exciting new changes and how you can play your part in our story, click on the Apply button to hear from Ben Clarkson, Chief Finance and Operating Officer.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Business Support Officer to support the Chief Finance and Operating Officer in the overall management of the function. You’ll have ownership of regular Operations Leadership Team (OLT) meetings and support our leaders in reporting to OLT, the Senior Leadership and Executive Teams, and Trustees.

A key part of the role will be support for effective and efficient governance, working closely with colleagues across Operations to optimise and support.

What you'll do

  • Support the CFOO in the overall management of the Operations directorate, including administrative support for the CFOO.

  • Understanding the business calendar, reporting and meeting structures and developing and maintaining excellent systems to ensure the Operations team meet and support all organisational deadlines.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the charity including strategy, key projects, initiatives, clients and stakeholders.

  • Support the CFOO in the preparation of formal papers for SLT and ELT meetings, and for trustee board and subcommittee meetings.

  • Overseeing the collection and reporting of departmental performance indicators.

What you'll bring

The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach and a desire to learn new things, who finds the challenge of transformation exciting. We’re on a mission to be fit for the future, and this role will work across the entire Operations team to ensure we remain on track.

  • Experience of providing senior stakeholder support to an excellent standard

  • Proven experience of liaising at a senior level, working across teams

  • A track record of writing documents for senior stakeholders in various formats. Experience of taking formal minutes is desirable

  • Proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision, with a team approach

  • Ability to provide timely and accurate briefings to senior leaders to maximise their efficiency

If this opportunity sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

To apply, please submit a CV and a supporting statement that demonstrates how you meet the essential criteria (marked with an 'A') in the 'what you'll bring' section of the job description.

The in person/office attendance expectation for this role will be a minimum of 2-3 days per week.

Interviews for this role will be held on Friday 25 July
