District Secretary for Administration and Compliance

This is a senior leadership position in a merged organisation.
- Collaboration with the District Chair and the District Secretary for Ministries & Vocations in the leadership of the District, and promoting the values of the District in all work practice.
- Collaboration with the Mission Area Leads to facilitate support of the circuits in relation to the responsibilities of administration and compliance issues.
- Responsibility for compliance with all relevant legal, financial, and governance matters, including compliance with the relevant parts of The Constitutional Practice and Disicipline of the Methodist Church, including:
- budget and accounting, in partnership with the District Treasurer;
- data protection;
- lay employment processes;
- safeguarding.
- Working with the District Safeguarding Officers, the District Safeguarding Group and others to ensure safeguarding processes for the District are robust and effective.
- Responsibility, together with relevant District officers and bodies, for strategy for property and finance across the District, and for its implementation.
- Enabling the District Property Consents group to fulfil their responsibilities regarding property matters within the District.
- Coordinating the District Grants Policy and its implementation through the District Grants Committee.
- Ensuring that the District’s responsibilities for Reconciliation and Complaints are fulfilled, including liaising with the other District Leaders and ensuring the appointment and functioning of the District Local Complaints Officer and District Reconciliation and Complaints Support Group(s).
- Collaboration with the District Chair and others to ensure good practice in internal and external communication, including through the District Communications Officer.

Administration
- Be responsible for securing contracts by confirming booking information and working with the Head of Budgets, Contracts & Policy to ensure freelance trainer contracts and Service Agreements are in place

- Ensure all finance and operations processes and procedures are rigorously implemented in collaboration with the Finance & Operations team
- Produce budget forecasts for APD and provide monthly updates on current financial position to the Deputy CEO and Head of Budgets, Contracts & Policy
- Chase debtors and regularly report any overdue payments to the Finance team
Strategy
- Contribute to the APD growth strategy through ideas and practical solutions

Churches Conservation Trust works with communities to look after 357 historic churches, over two million visitors annually and hundreds of events both private and public. These ancient, listed sites are among the most beautiful locations in England.

Due to the rapid expansion of Day One Trauma Support over the last three years, the charity’s infrastructure has needed to respond quickly to meet its changing demands. This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To work within the UK Programmes by providing support to Masjid Benchmarking, organising online Seminars, Support to Icare, Masjid Benchmarking, Education (Madaris) oversee and monitor Masjid Connect and Islamophobia monitoring, Publicity, supporting other areas of work of UKIM central team that may be delegated e.g. Imam CPD, Dawah, Tarbiyah.
Essentially the role is to support the Head of UK programmes to implement a varied and diverse programme of engagement to support improvement of the different programmes, masjids, branches, and departments in UKIM that require the support from UK Programmes Team.
The post is varied and ever changing depending on the needs of the members and programmes within UKIM.
Key Duties:
• To support Masjid and Branch Improvement through enabling them to undertake the self-assessment audit and then to deliver a development day based on the self-audit.
• To organise training both face to face and online that will enable masjids and branches to develop and move forward in their work programme.
• To bring on board speakers that will enable mosques to develop.
• To engage with the Dawah programme and to develop a robust programme of support to meet the needs of the department and different stakeholders. Based on your capacity and availability of resources to outsource where appropriate.

About the Role
Humanists International has another separate entity based in the US. This role will be a part of the UK operations team but will collaborate with the US finance team occasionally when it’s required, for example, during the audit period. Both UK and US finance teams are managed by the same Director of Finance and Operations who is based in London.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can provide excellent finance and administrative support to the small, predominantly home-based team. We’re seeking someone who is personable, highly organised, has attention to detail and is keen to take initiative and learn new skills. Onboarding training will be provided, but we would like you to demonstrate transferable skills.
You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, being the first point of contact for the organisation, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.
This is a full-time or part-time with a minimum of 4 days/week (0.8 FTE), permanent position, which is predominantly home-based but does require the attendance of in-person events such as the General Assembly and Team Building. Key Responsibilities

Taking charge of the day-to-day financial activities and office administration of the organisation.

Ensuring high-accuracy bookkeeping and bank reconciliation are completed to deadlines.

Preparing invoices and receipts to stakeholders as required.

Generating month-end Budget vs. Actual Report from accounting software on time, for the Director of Finance and Operations to review.
