Background

Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) delivers a free advice and support service for vulnerable migrants who have immigration, housing, welfare and health problems. We support visitors to secure their immigration status and move out of homelessness and destitution in the long-term, as well as assisting to address immediate issues, such as access to healthcare. HMC’s work is informed by a vision of a UK where no one is forced into destitution, exploitation or vulnerability as a result of their immigration status.

We have secured funding from Trust for London to employ an Immigration Advisor. The Immigration Advisor will provide immigration advice and assist visitors to make immigration and asylum applications. The postholder will work alongside external advisors to provide initial immigration advice on matters including human rights based applications, asylum, trafficking and family reunion. Advisors will work alongside Immigration Caseworkers and volunteers to coordinate and oversee the next steps for visitors after the initial immigration advice has been provided.

This role sits within the Immigration team, consisting of an Immigration Team Manager (part time), an Immigration Caseworker and a Long Residence Immigration Caseworker. HMC also benefits from two Housing & Destitution Caseworkers and the support of a Fundraising Officer and Volunteer & Participation Manager who are managed by the Operations Manager and CEO. HMC is supported by over 50 dedicated volunteers who work across the organisation. In addition, HMC works closely with a number of partner organisations to ensure visitors can access specialist legal advice and long-term support with immigration, housing, destitution, health and wellbeing. These include, Together with Migrant Children and Islington Law Centre.

We are keen to hear from applicants who have OISC Level 3 accreditation, the equivalent IAAS or a valid exemption. We will consider applicants with OISC Level 2 accreditation who can demonstrate experience of skills required below.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Advice and casework

- Provide high quality advice and representation for visitors with complex or urgent cases, specific vulnerabilities or those who would otherwise face particular difficulty in accessing representation from legal aid providers. For advisors with Level 3 OISC accreditation, this will be up to and including appeal-stage casework.

- Assist in the supervising of the work of the Immigration Caseworkers and volunteers.

- Provide training to HMC’s volunteers on immigration issues and maintain up to date resources.

- Provide immigration advice and support to the Housing staff team where available housing options and routes out of destitution are dependent on future immigration applications.

2. Collaborative working

- Work with HMC’s existing external advice partners to ensure effective, co-ordination of advocacy and casework support on a wide range of issues.

- Develop links and partnerships with other organisations to enable effective joint working.

- Provide information, statistics and case studies to external and internal stakeholders to support campaigning, advocacy and research relevant to HMC’s visitor group.

- Work closely with partner organisations to identify legal issues affecting HMC’s visitor group and, where appropriate, contribute to litigation and strategic policy work undertaken by external stakeholders to address these matters.

3. Compliance and Regulation

- Ensure HMC is meeting the standards required to maintain OISC accreditation.

- Keep up to date with legislation and guidance required to provide immigration advice at OISC L3 or OISC L2 dependent on accreditation level and meet the relevant OISC competence requirements, including maintaining a Personal Competence record of personal objectives regarding training and development.

- Ensure accurate record keeping using HMC’s case management system.

- Work with the Immigration Team Manager to ensure an effective monitoring system for the work and outcomes of the Immigration Team for funding and reporting purposes.

- Administrative tasks relevant to the post.

4. OTHER DUTIES

The post holder will be expected to:

- Implement sensitively HMC’s policies and procedures, especially with regards to confidentiality and equal opportunities

- Work collaboratively with other HMC staff, volunteers and professional advisors

- Participate actively in staff meetings, and other meetings as may reasonably be required

- Attend HMC Trustees’ meetings as required

- Support HMC's fundamental aim of providing a safe and caring environment for our visitors.

We are a small, highly experienced team who share a passion to support the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people across Surrey.  This is a key new role in the Major Relationships unit to support the CEO and Major Relationships Lead in major donor fundraising, an area which has grown in recent years.  This locally based post will enhance the prospect pipeline and facilitate the cultivation of major donor prospects, which will help towards meeting the objectives and financial targets for major donor fundraising. The role will cover three main areas of responsibility: Research, Events (organisation/co-ordination) and Admin. This position requires discretion, confidentiality and administrative judgment.

The Major Relationships unit works alongside Grants, Corporates & Community as well as Individual Giving, as part of the wider Engagement (fundraising/marketing) team at Eikon. 

Responsibilities   

1. Research   

• Identify and prioritise potential major donor prospects in Surrey and beyond, who would be capable of making significant contributions and seem likely to have the propensity to donate i.e. to become major donors. 

• Produce high quality, tailored and insightful research on major donors.  

• Look at current supporters (all different types/levels) with good contacts/connections/networks and conduct research in order to suggest ways to reach new high net worth individuals across Surrey. 

2. Event organisation/co-ordination 

• Organise/coordinate internal and externally run events such as dinners, drinks receptions, sporting events. 

• Attend key events - approx. 5 each year and sometimes evenings/weekends – welcoming guests and ensuring a positive experience. 

• Join the CEO and/or the Major Relationships Lead at specific meetings with MDs/MDPs, occasionally evenings/weekends. 

 3. Admin 

• Day-to-day support for MDs, MDPs and key influencers (KIs) which could include:  

• General stewardship including thanking and processing information on Sharepoint and Donorfy (Eikon’s database). 

• Regular communication including calls, meetings and sharing reports, presentations and other updates. 

• Database admin, including checking opportunity pipelines and reporting requirements. 

• Supporting individuals or small groups who are fundraising for us e.g. how to set up and promote a JustGiving page. 

4. Marketing, Communications and relationships  

• Support and liaise with the Marketing and Communications team to deliver relevant and effective content and materials, as well as maximising social media opportunities. 

• Co-ordinate communications (including distribution) to all MDs/MDPs/KIs eg CEO Update plus Infographic. 

• Support the CEO and Major Relationships Lead to further develop good relationships with Eikon’s MDs/MDPs/KIs. 

5. Strategy  

• Contribute to Engagement Team strategies, annual plans and budgets.

The Gender & Development Network (GADN) brings together expert NGOs, consultants, academics and individuals committed to working on gender equality, development and women’s rights issues. Our vision is of a world where social justice and gender equality prevail and where all women and girls are able to realise their rights free from discrimination. Our goal is to ensure that international development policy and practice promote gender equality and women's and girls’ rights. Our role is to support our members by sharing information and expertise, to undertake and disseminate research, and to provide expert advice and comment on government policies and projects.

Overall role of the Network Coordinator

The Network Coordinator is part of a small team comprising of the Director, Head of Policy, Network Coordinator, Communications and Policy Assistant and volunteers.

The Network Coordinator role lies at the heart of the network ensuring it functions efficiently while leading our activities to support our members in their work on gender equality and women’s rights.  They work alongside women’s rights advocates and practitioners across a range of issues within the international development sector, while ensuring that the organisation runs smoothly.

Specifically, the role is to:

• Manage the network’s finances and funding processes
• Manage the administration of the Secretariat
• Coordinate support to the network’s members
• Coordinate support for the different branches of the network

Specific Tasks

1. Manage the network’s finances and funding processes

• Manage the finances and accounts including invoices, receipts, payments, book-keeping and quarterly budget updates and liaising with GADN’s accountants and payroll providers
• Complete all required financial reports and file tax returns
• Manage annual membership subscriptions
• Work with the Director in identifying and securing core grant funding
• Manage the administration of grant funding including invoices, activity monitoring, donor reports and relations with any sub-grantees

2. Manage the administration of the Secretariat

• Produce GADN’s Annual Review
• Respond to external enquiries in the ‘Coordinator’ and ‘Recruitment’ inboxes
• Manage GADN volunteers
• Keep all HR and other files and records in order
• Maintain internal communications systems (email, calendars, document sharing, team meetings) 
• Manage the monitoring and evaluation processes of the network
• Ensure all legal reporting requirements are met

3. Coordinate support to the network’s members

• Act as a friendly, supportive and approachable face of the network
• Provide support to the network’s Working Groups, liaising closely with their Chairs
• Organise four Members’ Meetings per year, working with others in the team

Hybrid working

The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) is the national charity for people affected by cleft lip and palate in the United Kingdom.

We are seeking a Head of Finance to lead on the charity's finances and accounts.

The Head of Finance has lead responsibility for overseeing the finance function of the organisation.  The role reports directly to the Chief Executive, is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and works closely with the Board of Trustees and in particular with the Treasurer.  The post holder also has responsibility for the line management of the Finance Officer and the Feeding Service Administrator (Finance Team).

Working with SMT colleagues, this role leads on all financial reporting and analysis to the team and to the Trustee Board and Finance Committee, the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.

The Head of Finance leads the annual audit and preparation of the annual report and accounts working closely with the Chief Executive, Treasurer and Chair of Trustees. In addition, the role supports the wider team in compliance with financial policies and procedures and acts as Finance Business Partner by providing support and guidance to budget holders.

Main Responsibilities:

• Oversee and supervise diary management for the Chair and CEO, ensuring no conflicts and prioritising key meetings.
• Support key internal meetings by liaising with stakeholders, setting agendas, collating and distributing documentation, and producing accurate written summaries.
• Assist with drafting documentation for committees and correspondence as needed.
• Handle email, telephone, and postal enquiries and requests for information.
• Manage correspondence and documentation, including drafting documents where appropriate.
• Administer and record expenses, manage day-to-day resources against the budget, process credit card statements, and collate receipts for the Finance team.
• Develop and implement induction processes for the Chair of the Bar and Bar Council Officers.

The Mentoring Assistant is a key part of this growth, ensuring that the service is delivered to a high standard through undertaking administrative responsibilities such as data management, service user engagement and impact measurement.

A.  Role:

Be the first point of contact for DPG and perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.

B. Duties and Responsibilities:

Together with our Practice Manager and Admin Assistants, you will ensure the smooth running of the office.  Your duties will include:
