Background

Congenital Heart Disease affects 1 in 125 newborn babies, it is the most common condition at birth. Around 17,000 babies, children and adults are treated by the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit (LCHU) every year. The LCHU is the specialist heart centre for all of Yorkshire, The Humber, North East Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire.

Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) provide tailored emotional, financial and practical support and essential resources to heart patients and their families. When families need us most, CHSF provide parent accommodation close to the hospital and a dedicated family support service during a child’s treatment. CHSF also provide vital medical equipment and resources to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit and 19 regional clinics, including start-up NHS staff roles and specialist training across the network.

CHSF is a completely self-funded charity. Together, we are able to nurture a wonderful community of children, young people, adults and their families affected by congenital heart disease to live empowered lives.

Job Summary

As Fundraising Researcher you'll be responsible for proactively researching potential funders including corporate foundations and community funds, charitable trusts and other organisations to support our ambitious fundraising team. Working closely with the Trusts & Foundations Manager and Corporate Partnership Managers you'll ensure fundraising activity is supported across the organisation with robust research.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Research and identify charitable trusts and foundations, corporate, government and other funding opportunities that align with CHSF’s mission, vision and values.

2. Use prospect research tools and techniques to collate detailed prospect information e.g. business insider bulletins, directories, websites, AI etc.

3. Compile key information about each funding opportunity, including deadlines, eligibility criteria, application questions, and funder priorities, in a structured format.

4. Assist in reviewing and prioritising potential funding opportunities based on suitability for CHSF.

5. Support with impact monitoring and reporting to funders and corporate partners, including liaising with staff at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit to collect information.

6. Organise and archive past grant applications, ensuring a structured and accessible digital filing system.

7. Support the team by keeping funding research up to date and easy to access for future applications.

8. Collaborate with finance/fundraising teams to ensure grant research aligns with fundraising priorities.

9. Work with the Marketing Team to promote funding received to meet the requirements of the funder.

10. Strong understanding of due diligence, data protection and fundraising regulations.

As Fundraising Manager – Trusts and Foundations, you will:

• Take on a well-established portfolio of trusts and foundations with a combined value of c.£850K, delivering a mix of templated and bespoke applications
• Collaborate closely with a peer Trusts Manager, sharing responsibility for monthly submissions and stewardship
• Maintain and build relationships with existing funders, ensuring excellent reporting and donor care

Purpose of the post

The Engagement and Involvement Lead will engage with young people, families, schools and other interest-holders in the process of designing, delivering and ensuring the best outputs from the Adolescent Health Study, and is critical for the success of the project.  We are at the early stages of laying the foundations for this and in this new role we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to co-ordinate and lead AHS’s cross-UK participant and public involvement and engagement activities.

This is a role that requires high levels of confidence, autonomy, enthusiasm and skill. The postholder will be responsible for delivering the project’s new Engagement and Involvement Strategy, including:  establishing and coordinating a Young Persons’ Advisory Group for AHS; developing and delivering AHS public engagement and involvement activities; outsourcing and supervising engagement and involvement activities that are better provided by external partners; scoping and advising on which routes for involvement and engagement activities are best suited to different tasks. 

Main responsibilities

Planning & strategy delivery

· Ensuring the study delivers the values and approaches set out in the AHS engagement and involvement strategy

· Planning, delivering and reporting on an ongoing, regular and important programme of engagement events and activities

· Reviewing/revising/adding to existing policies, processes and procedures to support effective working together with people and communities (such as reimbursement, compensation, making reasonable adjustments)

· Developing and implementing appropriate evaluation, monitoring and reporting of Community Engagement & Involvement

· Keeping up to date with good practice & sector advances and sharing these with the AHS team.

Practical engagement and involvement

· Developing methods to enhance engagement and involvement, and helping to build positive relationships with young people and stakeholder groups, including charities, third sector & advocacy groups

· Overseeing day-to-day planning & delivery of a high-quality engagement and involvement programme.  To include, for example:

o Managing and supporting Youth Advisors

o Recruiting and running a standing Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG)

o Organising & delivering other ad hoc engagement activities as necessary

· Securing external partners where necessary, and managing contracts and delivery of their work across the UK

· Ensuring that any external parties (e.g. organisations, freelancers, consultants) supporting AHS’s involvement and engagement work have clear roles, responsibilities & goals

· Working with the Head of Communications to develop and manage provision of relevant information to members of the public, teachers, young people & researchers

· Keep clear records of involvement and engagement activities, ensuring results are used to inform the study and the wider research community.

Team support

• Checking for and capitalising on possible opportunities for engagement and involvement to be embedded in the work of the wider team
• Ensuring appropriate induction, training, mentoring and support is organised for the research team and communities involved
• Sharing examples of emerging good practice and CEI (Community Engagement & Involvement) impact across the research team.

Wider

• Contributing to shared learning and future sustainability as part of wider CEI communities of practice
• Acting as a key point of contact for community members and partners involved in the research
• Representing and presenting the AHS study’s engagement and involvement work to the wider research community at a senior level, including in national engagement & involvement networks as necessary.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential criteria

· Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field

· Experience developing and delivering engagement and involvement activities with young people and other relevant interest-holders (such as parents, families, teachers and schools)

· A proven track record or professional background in working with young people – such as in youth work, counselling, mentoring, education, or a related setting

· Understanding and experience of good practice in youth engagement and involvement,  including the principles and implementation of safeguarding, data protection, and inclusive practice

· Awareness of culturally sensitive approaches and methods to be inclusive of all relevant perspectives, including  marginalised and vulnerable groups

· Experience of successful project management and ability to deliver, working independently.

· Ability to design and deliver workshops, focus groups or meetings that encourage open dialogue and collaboration

· Ability to manage a budget and report on financial activity accurately

· Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, with experience of working alongside and influencing senior level professionals

· Research literacy, with a clear understanding of large UK-wide research initiatives and the various competing demands and pressures the study will face

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to communicate effectively and confidently with a range of stakeholders and to summarise and report key information clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing

· Demonstrated commitment to youth participation and the meaningful inclusion of young people’s perspectives.

· Confident using online tools (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom), and collaborative platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Microsoft 365)

Desirable criteria

· Relevant qualification in engagement and involvement

· Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience

· Understanding of key concepts and challenges in young people’s health and wellbeing and the transition to adulthood

· Familiarity with health research and data governance frameworks

· Understanding and knowledge of key potential partners across the UK for delivering youth engagement in the sector.

· Experience using digital engagement and facilitation tools for online workshops (e.g. Miro, Mural, Mentimeter, Canva, PowerPoint)

Dimensions

· This has been designed as a full-time role, although part-time work could be considered for the right candidate.

· Flexible working across several geographical locations in the UK.  Travel may be required to AHS locations and partner organisations.

About the role

The Home Ownership Officer will play a key role in managing the relationship between Hastoe and its leaseholders, shared owners and freeholders. The role ensures compliance with leases, legislation and internal policies, while supporting residents with advice and managing a range of property and legal matters.

The role will also support the Home Ownership Manager in delivering a high-quality service to homeowners, ensuring compliance with leases, legislative requirements, and Hastoe policies.

Duties will include:

• Acting as the main point of contact for leaseholders and shared owners, dealing with queries related to leases, service charges and home ownership policies.
• Managing statutory and voluntary lease extensions, collective enfranchisement applications as well as staircasing, liaising with legal teams and valuers as needed.
• Investigating and resolving breaches of lease conditions, working with internal and external partners to achieve timely resolution.
• Carrying out administration aspects relating to resales, disposals, consultations and Ground Rent.
• Working with our solicitors to prepare cases for legal action including injunctions, money judgments, and forfeiture where necessary, and representing the organization at court or tribunal hearings.
• Liaising with finance teams to answer any service charge queries and to assist with the service charge estimates and actuals.
• Delivering excellent customer service, ensuring all queries are handled effectively and professionally.

About you

You will need to have proven experience in housing management, particularly in dealing with leaseholders and shared ownership leases, including the legal frameworks surrounding them. The role requires you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to delivering high standards.

Purpose of the job

Main Activities

Income Generation:

• Build multi-year corporate relationships that generate income and gifts in-kind by creating and maintaining an active pipeline
• Identify and cultivate opportunities for new partnerships and funding streams
• Manage a portfolio of partners and fundraisers, ensuring effective communication and stewardship
• Prepare and submit funding applications and reports in a timely manner
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project delivery and reporting
• Ensure the CRM system is updated regularly to reflect activities and report to KPIs set by the Head of Income and Engagement

Marketing and Communications:

• Contribute to the creation and delivery of key marketing materials across multiple channels and audiences
• Maintain accurate records of activity and performance, generating regular performance reports
• Work collaboratively cross team to ensure delivery of all elements relating to projects and campaigns across the charity
• Develop audience approach content for social media and disseminate in a timely manner, supporting all teams marketing needs
• Responsibility for development and updates to websites across Fresh Futures
• Explore new marketing channels and build external marketing partnerships offering in-kind support
• Write press releases and deliver media interviews representing the charity, as directed by the Head of Income and Engagement

Line Management:

• Manage an officer working within the income and engagement team to effectively deliver all aspects of their role
• Work closely with Managers to ensure they are receiving the support they need from the Income and Engagement team
• Plan team delivery alongside the other Income and Engagement Manager to manage work allocation and delivery effectively within the team

Budgets:

• Assist the Head of Income and Engagement with the preparation of budgets
• Responsible for the management of specific project or campaign budgets,
• ensuring costs are always monitored and income targets are met (where appropriate)

Internal and external event delivery:

• Support delivery of internal events, to budget and in a timely manner, including
• liaison with suppliers, and attendees
• Build partnerships and attend external events to represent Fresh Futures and raise awareness of the charity

Volunteer delivery:

• Design and deliver presentations to third-sector organisations, businesses, and universities to showcase and promote Fresh Futures
• Work with the leadership team in supporting Fresh Futures’ vision for the future and create appropriate volunteering opportunities to support the vision and strategy moving forward

Discrete project and campaign delivery:

• Manage key fundraising projects or campaigns in a timely manner
• Oversee budgets and meet income targets, where appropriate
• Manage junior staff members or temp workers to deliver projects or campaigns effectively and within the designated timescale
• Develop and deliver fundraising campaigns or projects using appropriate project management tools, including but not limited to the CRM system

Strategy:

• Support the Head of Income and Engagement and the SLT in developing the
• strategic direction for the Income and Engagement team
• Work within the team to delivery the Income and Engagement Strategy
• Manage junior members of the team to deliver key aspects of the strategy as identified to sit within their remit

Knowledge, training and experience required

• Experience working within the voluntary sector generating income and running fundraising campaigns

Main Responsibilities:

Leadership

1. As a member of the Operational Leadership Team and wider Senior Leadership Team, work collaboratively and take collective responsibility for the strategic management and leadership of the organisation.

2. Work closely with the CEO, Treasurer and Board of Trustees to facilitate good governance and risk management.

3. Manage, maintain and develop all financial systems and control; increasing their impact and quality, and implementing best practices in financial management.

4. To supervise finance assistants and ensure that they are adhering to financial code of practices.

Financial Management

1. Lead and manage all aspects of the financial cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset management, reserves & designated fund management and financial reporting.

2. Work with HR & Payroll Officer to manage and retain oversight of the day to day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger maintenance, including the reconciliation of petty cash, credit cards and all bank accounts on a monthly basis reviewing and approving payment runs and payroll.

3. Work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to prepare the annual budgets and forecasts.

4. Lead and manage the provision of regular budget monitoring and reports to budget holders.

5. Assist with the budget preparation for funding bids. Manage, monitor and keep track of any grants, funding or commissioned income, working with relevant managers to provide relevant financial information for inclusion in monitoring reports.

6. Lead and manage the provision of quarterly financial reports to the Board and advise them on financial issues as appropriate

7. Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to inform and support organisational management, development and decision[1]making, and funding applications across the organisation.

8. Work with the CEO to prepare medium term financial forecasts for the organisation to support strategic decision-making and delivery of strategic priorities.

9. Lead on the audit process and the preparation of year end accounts to trial balance including preparation of the audit file and the closing down of the accounts on our accounting management system to ensure that the organisation is compliant with legal requirements and good practice.

10. To work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and designated Trustees to advise, review and cost the annual pay award.

11. To provide back-up and holiday cover for the processing of monthly payroll.

12. To work with and support the HR & Payroll Officer in providing payroll information and reconciling payroll monthly.

Governance and compliance

1. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements (e.g. Companies House, HMRC and the Charity Commission).

2. Attend Trustee Board meetings to report on financial matters, including the identification and management of financial risk, and provide any relevant reports.

3. To support the Trustees, SLT and line managers in managing our finances carefully and within our financial means, through provision of advice, guidance, support and training.

4. To be the main point of contact with external auditors.

5. To ensure that robust financial controls are in place, underpinned by appropriate financial policies and procedures and to ensure that they are adhered to and that the organisation is protected from fraud and error.

Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is the national charity caring for historic churches at risk. As the operator of the third largest heritage estate in charitable ownership in the UK, our 356 historic churches include examples of irreplaceable architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of English history.

CCT has an international award-winning reputation in heritage conservation and regeneration. All churches in our care are listed, mostly Grade I and II*, and some are Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

Overall job purpose

In recent years, CCT has experienced great success in applying to grant funders, including Trust and Foundations, Landfill Communities Fund, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. 

CCT’s 2025 -30 strategy focuses on delivering conservation projects across our estate and securing income from grant funders will be crucial.  We will also work with local communities to address smaller conservation projects via the Community Initiative Framework.

The Grants Officer will research and identify relevant funding opportunities, build a healthy pipeline, and submit applications for project funding to meet fundraising targets during an exciting period of growth.

There will be requirement for occasional travel for project visits and team meetings.

About The Role

The overall remit of this role is to:

1. Lead prospect research and funding trends analysis, identifying strategic opportunities and informing fundraising strategy

Strategic stakeholder relationship management, engagement and mapping (70%)

• Strategically identify, research, and qualify high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate prospects, developing robust pipelines for major gifts.

• Identify, cultivate, and steward significant donor relationships, focusing on securing major gifts and sustained funding.

• Support good governance in Climate Catalyst - by developing the board workplan, organising meetings, securing inputs to these meetings, minute-taking, and ensure follow up on agreed actions (all with direction from the CEO)

• Drive and support pro-active engagement between Climate Catalyst senior staff and individual members of the Strategic Council, with direction from the CEO
